  • Joseph Ortiz SS | MIL

Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Departs with apparent injury

Ortiz exited Thursday's game against the Cubs in the bottom of the fifth inning with an apparent left leg injury, Sophia Minnaert of FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin reports.

Ortiz grounded out to third in the top of the fifth and was grabbing at his left leg. He fouled a pitch off his left knee Tuesday, but it's unclear if the two issues are related. Andruw Monasterio has replaced Ortiz at shortstop for Milwaukee.

  • Emil Morales SS | LAD

Dodgers' Emil Morales: Mashing for Quakes

Morales is slashing .338/.417/.622 with five home runs, four steals and a 23.8 percent strikeout rate in 18 games since getting promoted to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on July 25.

Morales has gotten better as his age-18 season has gone on, as he had a 28.3 percent strikeout rate and 127 wRC+ in 59 Arizona Complex League games and has cut his strikeout rate while upping his production (177 wRC+) in his first tour of the Cal League. Morales has played the majority of his games at shortstop this season, but as he continues filling out his large 6-foot-3 frame, he will likely slide down the defensive spectrum. Still, he's shown enough offensive upside at Single-A to potentially profile at any position.

  • Maximo Acosta SS | MIA

Marlins' Maximo Acosta: Records first MLB hit with homer

Acosta went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Cardinals.

The 22-year-old infielder collected his first career MLB hit and home run, launching a 418-foot shot off Andre Pallante in the sixth inning that chased the right-hander from the contest. The milestone blast came in Acosta's third major-league game. He showed flashes of his upside in the minors this season, tallying 13 homers and 28 steals over 106 games in Jacksonville. While his role with Miami remains limited for now, his power-speed profile could offer intriguing fantasy value if he earns consistent playing time.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: Fills box score in win

Turner went 5-for-6 with a triple, two stolen bases, three runs scored and a pair of RBI in Wednesday's 11-2 win over the Mariners.

Turner extended his hit streak to 10 games with another multi-hit effort -- he's gone an incredible 24-for-46 (.522) with five extra-base hits and 12 runs scored in that span. The 32-year-old Turner boosted his slash line to .303/.357/.451 with 13 homers, 87 runs scored, 59 RBI and 31 stolen bases across 568 plate appearances this year.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Sitting Wednesday

Bogaerts is not in the Padres' starting lineup against the Giants on Wednesday.

Bogaerts will get a rare day off Wednesday, with Jose Iglesias starting at shortstop and batting seventh. In 30 games since the All-Star break, Bogaerts has a .761 OPS with four steals, 19 runs, five home runs and 12 RBI over 129 plate appearances.

  • Mookie Betts SS | LAD

Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Taking seat Wednesday

Betts is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Betts started the previous 21 games and has an .865 OPS in his past 54 at-bats, but he will receive Wednesday off in Colorado, Miguel Rojas will step in at shortstop and bat eighth versus Rockies righty Tanner Gordon.

  • Joseph Ortiz SS | MIL

Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Playing Wednesday after all

Ortiz (knee) is starting at shortstop and batting ninth against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Ortiz was originally slated to miss Wednesday's contest after fouling a pitch off his knee during Tuesday's game against the Cubs, but the issue is apparently minor given his presence in the lineup. Ortiz has logged at least two hits in five of his last 10 games, going 13-for-35 (.371) with one steal, two doubles and six RBI over that span.

  • Otto Lopez SS | MIA

Marlins' Otto Lopez: Exiting starting nine

Lopez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's tilt versus the Cardinals.

It appears to be a routine day off for Lopez, who had started each of the previous 10 contests. Maximo Acosta will handle shortstop and bat ninth as the Marlins try to avoid being swept by St. Louis.

  • Masyn Winn SS | STL

Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Rare day off Wednesday

Winn is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Miami.

Winn will get his first day off of August while he's in the midst of a 1-for-14 slump at the plate. Thomas Saggese will receive a start at shortstop as the Cardinals go for the series sweep.

  • Pirates' Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Getting breather

Kiner-Falefa is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Blue Jays.

Kiner-Falefa will receive a day of rest after starting each of the previous eight games. The Pirates will shift Jared Triolo over to third base and install Liover Peguero at shortstop in Wednesday's series finale.
