  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Lands on IL with finger injury

Atlanta placed Kim on the 10-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to Wednesday, due to right middle finger inflammation. Kim has gone 0-for-24 with four walks and eight strikeouts over his last 13 games and has not recorded a hit since June 3 against the Blue Jays. The 30-year-old infielder is eligible to return from the IL prior to the All-Star break, though it's unclear whether he'll need a longer stint on the shelf. Kyle Farmer (forearm) was reinstated from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: On bench again Thursday

Kim is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Cardinals. After handing Kim four straight starts, Atlanta has now had him on the bench for three consecutive contests. Jim Jarvis was promoted earlier Thursday and will draw the start at shortstop in the series finale.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Struggles continue Friday

Kim went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Friday's win over the Giants. Making his second straight start at shortstop while batting ninth in the order, Kim saw his hitless streak extend to 25 plate appearances -- his last base knock was a single back on June 3. His struggles, both at the plate and in the field, since returning from finger surgery in mid-May have cost him his starting job at shortstop and allowed Jorge Mateo to get consistent playing time, but Atlanta hasn't completely given up on Kim. If he doesn't turn things around soon, however, the team could have a tough decision to make about his future once Ronald Acuna (hamstring) returns from the IL in July and frees Mauricio Dubon up for regular shortstop duty again. Over 76 PAs in 2026, Kim is slashing a woeful .072/.158/.072 with a career-worst 26.3 percent strikeout rate.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: On bench for third straight

Kim isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Cincinnati. Kim will grab a seat on the bench for a third consecutive game after going just 4-for-42 (.095) in 12 games since his return from the injured list. Jorge Mateo will start at shortstop for the third game in a row, and he could continue to get extra playing time while Atlanta waits for Kim to get on track after making his season debut a few weeks ago.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Riding pine Saturday

Kim isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Washington. Kim has notched a base hit and scored a run in each of his last three games, but he'll take a seat on the bench Saturday while Mauricio Dubon starts at shortstop, batting seventh.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Taking seat Sunday

Kim is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox. Kim started the past four games after being reinstated from the injured list Monday, and he'll receive a break after collecting just one hit in his first 18 plate appearances of the season. Jorge Mateo will take over at shortstop in the series finale versus Boston.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Poised to return Tuesday

Kim (finger) will be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game against the Cubs, Lindsay Crosby of BravesToday.com reports. Kim has completed his rehab assignment as he works his way back from surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right middle finger. The 30-year-old slashed .286/.412/.321 with no home runs, one stolen base and a 6:4 BB:K over nine rehab contests between Double-A Columbus and Triple-A Gwinnett. Kim will take over as Atlanta's primary shortstop.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Moving rehab to Triple-A

Kim (finger) is moving his rehab assignment from Double-A Columbus to Triple-A Gwinnett this week, Lindsay Crosby of BravesToday.com reports. Kim began his rehab assignment last week and seems to be making good progress in his recovery from the surgery he underwent in January to repair a torn tendon in his right middle finger. He went 3-for-9 with four walks, one steal and three runs scored across four games with Double-A and will likely stick with Gwinnett for a few more contests before being cleared to return to the majors. Mauricio Dubon should continue to hold down the fort at shortstop until Kim is back with Atlanta.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Cleared for rehab games

Kim (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Columbus this week, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports. Kim has finally been cleared to play in games following surgery in January to address a torn tendon in his right middle finger. He's basically at the start of spring training, so Kim's rehab assignment should be a lengthy one. Kim will be in line for the bulk of the playing time at shortstop when he returns, though Mauricio Dubon has played well as a fill-in and will still see action at shortstop as part of a utility role.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Taking batting practice

Manager Walt Weiss said Saturday that Kim (finger) has resumed taking batting practice, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Kim has been on the shelf since the beginning of the season as he finishes up his rehab from offseason finger surgery. Atlanta's skipper said that the team plans to have the 30-year-old shortstop begin playing in sim games Thursday, and he'll likely be sent out on a minor-league rehab assignment shortly afterward.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Remaining in Atlanta

Kim signed a one-year, $20 million contract with Atlanta on Monday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Kim finished out the 2025 campaign with Atlanta after being claimed off waivers, and he did enough to earn himself another look with the club in 2026. He slashed .253/.316/.368 with three home runs, 12 RBI and 14 runs scored in 24 games down the stretch of the 2025 season after being dumped by the Rays. Kim figures to see the bulk of his playing time at shortstop heading into the upcoming season, though he can also manage at the keystone if necessary. Mauricio Dubon is expected to be deployed as a true utility man following the addition of Kim.

  • Ha-Seong Kim: Becomes free agent after opting out

Kim became a free agent Monday after exercising the opt-out clause in his contract, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. After Kim slashed just .234/.304/.345 in 48 games for Tampa Bay and Atlanta in 2025, it was not a given that he would opt out of the $16 million he was owed in 2026. However, the 30-year-old ultimately has decided to test out the free-agent market. Atlanta has a hole at shortstop, so it will likely make an effort to re-sign Kim, but he'll now be free to negotiate with all teams.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Extends hit streak with fifth homer

Kim went 1-for-3 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Tigers. The shortstop took Casey Mize deep in the fourth inning for a solo shot, extending his hit streak to nine games in the process. During that stretch, Kim is batting .394 (13-for-33) with two of his five homers on the season, along with eight RBI and 10 runs. It's been a tough, injury-plagued campaign for Kim, but a strong finish to 2025 could make it more likely he declines his $16 million player option for 2026 and hits the open market this winter in search of a long-term contract.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Belts game-winning homer

Kim went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's win over the Cubs. The 29-year-old clubbed the first pitch he saw from Drew Pomeranz in the seventh inning over the left-field fence, erasing a 1-0 deficit in an eventual 5-1 win. Incredibly, it was the first home run by an Atlanta shortstop this season, as the team has gotten a league-low .535 OPS at the position in 2025. The long ball was the third of the year in 26 games for Kim, who should handle starting duties the rest of September after making his Atlanta debut Tuesday.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Activated from injured list

Atlanta activated Kim (back) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Kim was scooped up from the Rays via waivers Monday and now joins the active roster with his new club. The 29-year-old has been limited to only 24 games this season due to injury and has slashed an uninspiring .214/.290/.321 when on the field. However, Kim should operate as Atlanta's everyday shortstop down the stretch, and with a $16 million player option for 2026, he could be the team's regular at the position next season, as well.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Could return upon roster expansion

Kim (back) isn't expected to return from the 10-day injured list until at least Monday when team rosters expand to 28 players, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports. Kim has played just 29 major-league games this season due to multiple injuries, most recently lower-back inflammation that landed him on the 10-day IL on Aug. 21. He's eligible to return from the IL on Sunday, but the Rays will wait to bring back the 29-year-old shortstop until at least Monday. Carson Williams has played well since making his major-league debut Aug. 22, but it's unclear what his role will be once Kim has returned.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Progressing well

Kim (back) fielded grounders Wednesday, and Rays manager Kevin Cash said the team is "happy with the progression" the infielder has made, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports. Kim has been receiving treatment for lower-back inflammation and appears to be trending in the right direction. He's eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list Saturday, and the infielder may be ready to return by then. Carson Williams is off to a hot start while filling in for Kim at shortstop, but he could be pushed aside soon if the Rays elect to reinstall Kim as their primary option at the position.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Scratched from Wednesday's lineup

Kim was scratched from the Rays' lineup against the Yankees on Wednesday due to an undisclosed reason. Expect the team to provide an explanation for Kim's late removal from the lineup following Wednesday's contest. As a result of Kim being scratched, Tristan Gray will start at shortstop and bat ninth. Kim has logged at least one hit in four of his last five games, going 6-for-20 with a double and two steals over that span.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Nabs steal in win

Kim went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Giants. Kim has logged a steal in two of his last three games, going 4-for-11 in that span. The 29-year-old has regained a starting job at shortstop since returning from a stint on the injured list due to lower-back tightness at the start of August. Kim should be able to keep the job a while longer while Taylor Walls (groin) is out. For the season, Kim has a poor .213/.298/.333 slash line with two home runs, six steals, five RBI and five runs scored over 84 plate appearances, though he's been bothered by a handful of injuries throughout the campaign.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Notches second homer of season

Kim went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an RBI double during Sunday's 6-3 loss to Seattle. Kim has struggled since coming off the injured list Aug. 1, going 3-for-21 (.143) with eight strikeouts before Sunday's outburst. He swatted a solo home run in the fourth inning off Bryan Woo, marking the shortstop's second in 63 plate appearances in 2025. He has a .681 OPS on the year.
