Nelson will pitch behind opener Joe Mantiply against the Dodgers on Tuesday, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Nelson surrendered six runs over 3.2 frames his last time out versus Minnesota, and he'll work behind an opener Tuesday for the second time this season. The right-hander has a 5.69 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 46:18 K:BB across 68 innings this year.

Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Tuesday that the club will wait to send Gray (elbow) for an MRI until around the All-Star break, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

The right-hander experienced elbow discomfort and more fatigue than normal during his rehab start with Triple-A Rochester on Sunday, and it appears he'll be shut down from throwing for at least the next couple weeks. Gray was in the latter stages of the rehab assignment and was soon expected to rejoin the Nationals, so it's a big blow for both him and the rotation. Depending on when he's actually sent for imaging, Gray shouldn't be expected back until at least sometime in August.

Weathers (finger) will be re-evaluated in 1-to-2 weeks in hopes of being cleared to begin a throwing program at that time, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Weathers has already been shut down for nearly a month with a left index finger strain and still isn't ready to throw yet. Given how much time he's missed, it's going to take him a while to get sufficiently built back up before rejoining the Marlins' rotation. A return would appear to be several weeks away.

Cabrera (shoulder) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Cabrera is slated to throw 80-to-85 pitches in what will likely be his final rehab start before returning from the 60-day injured list and taking back a spot in Miami's rotation. The right-hander has posted a 4.50 ERA and 15:4 K:BB over 10 innings in his first three rehab outings. Cabrera has been out since early May with a right shoulder impingement.

Gray experienced elbow discomfort and felt more fatigued than normal during Sunday's rehab start at Triple-A Rochester, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. Gray will undergo testing in the coming days.

Gray compared the discomfort to what he felt in April when he sustained the right flexor strain, a concerning sign for the 26-year-old, who was close to activation before the setback. Gray surrendered seven runs across three innings Sunday before reporting the pain. He'll continue to be evaluated over the coming days as the severity of the setback is determined.

The Mets recalled Butto from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

All seven of Butto's 2024 appearances with the Mets to this point have come as a starting pitcher, but he will be used in relief this time around in order to provide some length for an overused bullpen. The right-hander has collected a 3.08 ERA and 38:21 K:BB over 38 innings in the majors this season.

Anderson (elbow) threw three scoreless innings in a rehab start for Single-A Augusta on Sunday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one.

After two rehab starts in the Florida Complex League in which he posted a 7:0 K:BB over five innings while giving up just one run, Anderson got bumped up to Single-A and delivered another strong performance as he nears the finish line on his recovery from Tommy John surgery. The right-hander built up to 46 pitches (29 strikes) on Sunday, and he's expected to make at least two more rehab appearances before becoming an option for Atlanta's rotation after the All-Star break.

Gomber did not factor into the decision in Monday's 8-7 win over Milwaukee, allowing four runs on nine hits and no walks over six innings. He struck out three.

The Colorado southpaw faced only 10 batters over three scoreless innings to open this outing before falling apart in a five-hit, three-run fourth. Gomber has now allowed four or more runs in five consecutive starts, churning out an unpleasant 8.65 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB across 26 innings. Overall, the 30-year-old sports a 4.72 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 59:24 K:BB in 87.2 innings. He is tentatively scheduled to make his next start against the Royals at home.

Peterson did not factor into the decision in Monday's 9-7 win versus Washington, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk over 6.1 innings. He struck out two.

The New York southpaw scattered seven singles en route to his third quality start of 2024. After issuing eight free passes across 10.1 innings in his previous two outings, Peterson was much sharper in this appearance, walking fewer than two for just the second time this season in six starts. The 28-year-old now sports a 3.51 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 22:14 K:BB in 33.1 overall innings. He is currently slated to make his next start against the Pirates in Pittsburgh this weekend.

Gore did not factor into the decision in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Mets, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.

The Washington southpaw created an incredible 21 whiffs to collect his eight punchouts, and he left the game with the Nationals ahead 2-0 only to watch Derek Law immediately cough up the lead. This was a bounce-back performance for Gore as he struggled in five June starts with a 5.13 ERA across 26.1 innings. The 25-year-old's season ERA now stands at 3.47 with 107:29 K:BB over 90.2 innings. He is tentatively scheduled to make his next outing against the Cardinals at home this weekend.
