  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Tosses 6.1 scoreless frames Friday

Gore (4-4) earned the win Friday against the Royals after tossing 6.1 scoreless innings. He allowed four hits and a walk while striking out three. Gore's strikeout numbers are trending in the wrong direction, as he's fanned three or fewer in four of his last six starts, but he has the stuff to improve in that regard as the season goes on. Gore has been putting up good results of late despite the modest swing and miss, giving up one run or fewer while pitching at least six frames in three of his last four outings, with the exception being an abbreviated one-inning outing due to lat tightness. In six May appearances, Gore owns a 3.56 ERA and 1.06 WHIP across 30.1 innings. He should make his next start against the Cardinals on the road.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Fans seven in no-decision

Gore did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one run on a hit and two walks over six innings against the Angels. He struck out seven. Gore was stellar on the mound, allowing just three Angels to reach base as part of a superb pitcher's duel with Reid Detmers. It was an incredibly encouraging outing for Gore, particularly considering he was pulled after just one inning in his previous start due to left lat tightness. It has been an up-and-down start to the 27-year-old's first season with the Rangers, as he owns a 4.42 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 62:26 K:BB across 55 innings (11 starts). Gore is tentatively slated to make his next start Friday against the Royals.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Ready to start Sunday

Gore (lat) will start Sunday's series finale versus the Angels in Anaheim, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. Gore looked to be at risk of landing on the injured list after he lasted just one inning in Monday's 7-6 loss to the Rockies before leaving due to left lat tightness, but an MRI cleared him of any major damage. The southpaw was able to play catch a few days later and appears to have checked out fine, setting the stage for him to return to the hill on five days' rest. The Rangers may look to keep Gore's workload in check Sunday as a matter of caution, though manager Skip Schumaker hasn't explicitly said that the 27-year-old will be on a limited pitch count.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: On track to make next start

An MRI on Gore's left lat came back negative, and he is on track to make his next scheduled start Sunday versus the Angels, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. Gore was removed from his start Monday against the Rockies after his lat tightened up on him, but he has managed to avoid a major injury and is trending toward not missing a turn in the rotation. The left-hander has had an up-and-down first 10 starts for the Rangers, collecting a 4.78 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 55:24 K:BB over 49 innings.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Headed for imaging Tuesday

Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said that Gore will most likely undergo an MRI on Tuesday after exiting Monday's 7-6 loss to the Rockies after one inning due to left lat tightness, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. After the game, Gore described his early exit as precautionary, noting that he felt a cramp behind his shoulder blade that had been presenting some discomfort. Gore was charged with two runs on three hits and two walks during the 28-pitch inning, and both his fastball and sinker velocities were down just over a mile per hour from their season averages. The upcoming imaging should shed more light on the severity of Gore's injury, but the Rangers aren't yet ruling the southpaw out from making his next turn through the rotation, which would fall Sunday in Anaheim.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Exits with lat tightness

Gore was removed from his start Monday against the Rockies due to left lat tightness, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. He allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two over one inning before departing. Gore dove for a slow grounder to the third-base side in his lone inning and appeared to be shaken up on the play, though it's unclear if he suffered the injury while pursuing the grounder or had already been pitching through the issue. He can be considered day-to-day until the Rangers have more information to share on his availability moving forward.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Shines with eight strong innings

Gore (3-3) earned the win over Arizona on Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out five batters over eight innings. Gore served up a solo homer in the second inning, but that was the only run the Diamondbacks put on board against him. The lefty's eight frames were a season high -- he previously hadn't gone more than six innings -- and he needed just 95 pitches to go that deep. Gore had pitched to a poor 7.58 ERA over his previous four starts coming into Tuesday, so this was a much-needed turnaround. He's slated for a road matchup in the thin Colorado air his next time out.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Can't shake control issues in loss

Gore (2-3) took the loss Thursday against the Yankees, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out three. The 27-year-old left-hander struggled with hard contact Thursday, giving up four extra-base hits (two triples). Gore also continued to have major problems with his control, issuing at least three free passes for the fifth time this year. The results to begin his Rangers career have been disappointing with a 5.18 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 48:21 K:BB across 40 innings. Gore will be looking to right the ship in his next scheduled outing versus Arizona.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Mixed results in no-decision

Gore did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Athletics, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks with seven strikeouts over five innings. Gore allowed three runs across the second and third innings, throwing 72 of a season-high 106 pitches for strikes with 14 whiffs. The 27-year-old has now yielded 10 earned runs across his past three starts, and he's failed to exceed five frames in four straight outings. He owns a 4.35 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 42:15 K:BB across 31 innings and lines up for a road matchup against the Tigers next weekend.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Yields three homers in loss

Gore (2-2) allowed five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Mariners. Gore's control issues from his previous outing didn't return in this one, as he threw 61 of 90 pitches for strikes. However, the Mariners were able to tee off against him, beginning with Rob Refsnyder's solo shot to open the bottom of the first. J.P. Crawford and Randy Arozarena also had two-run blasts in the game, making it Gore's worst outing of the season in terms of runs allowed. The southpaw has been passable to open his Rangers tenure, posting a 4.15 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 35:12 K:BB over 26 innings across his first five starts with his new team. The strikeout upside is there, but Gore's also carried a high walk rate often in his career, and this season's 4.2 BB/9 is an extension of that trend. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Athletics.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Battles control in loss

Gore (2-1) took the loss against the Athletics on Tuesday, allowing two runs on three hits and six walks while striking out five batters over 4.2 innings. It's somewhat impressive that Gore was able to emerge with just two runs allowed on his stat line given the six walks. The Rangers left six of the batters who reached against the lefty on base, but the two runs they scored against him were enough to get the victory. Gore hadn't previously had control problems this season -- he allowed a tolerable five walks over 16.1 innings across his first three starts -- but he did struggle with walks during the second half of last year, so it's something to keep an eye on. His overall 3.00 ERA and 30:11 K:BB through 21 frames to begin the campaign remain promising.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Earns win in Rangers debut

Gore (1-0) earned the win Sunday over the Phillies, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks across 5.1 innings. He struck out seven. It was an impressive debut for Gore, who held the Phillies hitless through his first five innings before he was charged with a pair of runs in the sixth after allowing two singles and a walk. Despite the rocky finish, it was an encouraging showing from the left-hander, who posted a 4.17 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP and 185:64 K:BB across 30 starts (159.2 innings) in an up-and-down 2025 campaign with the Nationals. Gore is tentatively lined up to face the Reds at home in his next outing.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Pitches into fifth inning

Gore allowed two hits and three walks while striking out three over 4.1 scoreless innings Monday in a 3-2 win over the White Sox in Cactus League play. He also hit a batter. Gore followed up his worst Cactus League start with his best one Monday. After allowing seven runs, six hits and three walks over 1.2 innings in his previous outing, the left-hander was sharper the fourth time out. The southpaw is ramping up for his first season for Texas since being acquired from the Nationals in January.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Better in second start

Gore allowed three hits and struck out one over three scoreless innings in Friday's spring start against the White Sox. After allowing two runs and three hits over 1.2 innings in his Cactus League debut, Gore was better his second time out, throwing 38 pitches (27 strikes). The lefty also took a comebacker off his leg but gathered the ball and got the out. Texas trainers paid him a visit, but Gore stayed in the game, per Matt Postins of SI.com. Gore is expected to serve as the third or fourth starter in the Rangers' rotation.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Sent to Rangers

The Nationals traded Gore to the Rangers on Thursday in exchange for Gavin Fien, Alejandro Rosario (elbow), Abimelec Ortiz, Devin Fitz-Gerald (shoulder) and Yeremy Cabrera, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. Gore was seemingly on his way to enjoying a breakout campaign in 2025, but he collapsed after the All-Star break, turning in a 6.75 ERA and 1.70 WHIP over 49.1 innings across his final 11 starts. The 26-year-old lefty still has plenty to offer fantasy managers, however, as he's tallied at least 180 strikeouts in each of the last two seasons while starting 30 games in both years. Moving from Washington to Texas should also raise his ceiling for wins.

  • Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Settles with Nats at $5.6 million

The Nationals and Gore avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $5.6 million contract Thursday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. Gore concluded the 2025 campaign with a 4.17 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 185:64 K:BB over 159.2 innings covering 30 starts. The left-hander's name has come up often in trade rumors this offseason, and he will be eligible for salary arbitration for a final time next winter.

  • Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Short outing in 15th loss

Gore (5-15) took the loss Monday, allowing four runs on four hits and four walks over two-plus innings against Atlanta. He struck out three. Gore didn't make it out of the third inning Monday, giving up two early runs before being lifted after allowing two baserunners to start the frame. It's been a tale of two halves for the southpaw, who carried a 3.02 ERA and 1.20 WHIP through 19 starts and 110.1 innings before the All-Star break but has struggled since, now sitting with a 4.17 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over 30 starts and 159.2 innings. The 26-year-old is currently lined up to pitch the Nationals' season finale Sunday, though the club could decide to shut him down early.

  • Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Dazzles in pitchers' duel Tuesday

Gore came away with a no-decision in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against Atlanta, allowing two hits and three walks over 5.1 scoreless innings. He struck out five. Matched up against fellow left-handed ace Chris Sale, Gore rose to the occasion, tossing 56 of 92 pitches for strikes before leaving the mound in a 0-0 tie that wasn't decided until the 10th inning. Gore hasn't seemed overly affected by the bout of shoulder inflammation that sidelined him briefly in early September, and through two outings since coming off the IL he's given up two runs in 10.1 innings with a 9:5 K:BB. He'll look for his first win since Aug. 10 in his final start of 2025, a rematch with Atlanta on the road early next week.

  • Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Takes loss in return

Gore (5-14) took the loss against the Marlins on Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four across five innings. Gore was cleared to return from the 15-day injured list Thursday after recovering from left shoulder inflammation. He got off to a rocky start by yielding two runs in the first inning, but the 26-year-old southpaw kept the Marlins off the board over the next four frames and finished with 11 whiffs on 78 pitches (50 strikes). Gore has given up three earned runs or less in each of his last five starts, and while his 177 strikeouts (across 152.1 innings) is 10th best in the National League, his 14 losses is tied with Zac Gallen and Mitch Keller for fourth worst in the NL. Gore is slated to face Atlanta at home next week.

  • Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Coming off injured list Thursday

Gore (shoulder) is scheduled to be activated off the 15-day injured list to pitch Thursday against the Marlins, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports. The left-hander landed on the shelf in late August due to shoulder inflammation and will rejoin the Nationals after spending the 15-day minumum on the injured list. In his last two starts before heading to the IL, Gore allowed six earned runs with eight strikeouts and six walks across 9.1 innings.
