Andrew Chafin RP | CIN
Cubs' Andrew Chafin: Close to return
Chafin (finger) will throw a bullpen session Friday and could return to game action soon, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Chafin threw a 20-pitch simulated game Wednesday, and he'll throw again just two days later. Assuming his finger responds well to Friday's bullpen session, manager David Ross said that he's "extremely close" to rejoining the team.

Wandy Peralta RP | SD
Giants' Wandy Peralta: Dropped from roster
Peralta was optioned to the Giants' alternate training site Friday.
Peralta had been on the big-league roster all season and performed well enough, posting a 3.91 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP in 23 innings of relief work. Whether or not he'll get another opportunity down the stretch remains to be seen. Andrew Suarez was recalled in a corresponding move.

Mitch White RP | MIL
Dodgers' Mitch White: Recalled by Dodgers
White was recalled by the Dodgers on Friday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
White should have a good chance to pitch at some point Friday against the Rockies in what is expected to be a bullpen game. The 25-year-old made his big-league debut back in late August, throwing a single scoreless inning of relief. Josh Sborz was optioned in a corresponding move.

Dakota Hudson SP | LAA
Cardinals' Dakota Hudson: Placed on injured list
Hudson landed on the 10-day injured list with a strained right forearm Saturday.
Hudson left Thursday's game with the injury, which was originally called right elbow soreness but has since been diagnosed as a forearm strain following an MRI. With just 10 days left in the season, all injured list placements at this point are season-ending. Hudson will wrap up the year having posted a 2.77 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP in eight starts. Nabil Crismatt was recalled in a corresponding move.

Daniel Castano RP | MIA
Marlins' Daniel Castano: May not start
Castano is listed as the Marlins' starter for the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Nationals, but manager Don Mattingly indicated he could pitch in relief in the afternoon game, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Castano should feature at some point in one of Friday's games, though exactly when remains to be seen. If Castano is used in Game 1, expect Robert Dugger to get the call to start Game 2.

Garrett Cleavinger RP | TB
Phillies' Garrett Cleavinger: Dropped from roster
Cleavinger was optioned off the Phillies' roster Friday.
Cleavinger made his big-league debut Thursday but did little more than contribute to the Phillies' ongoing bullpen struggles, allowing a run on two hits while recording just two outs. It's possible he gets another opportunity down the stretch if the Phillies need another lefty in the pen.

Johan Quezada RP | MIA
Marlins' Johan Quezada: Sent to alternate training site
Quezada was optioned to the alternate training site Friday.
The 26-year-old had his contract selected by Miami last week and will return to the alternate site after his first taste of major-league action. Quezada threw two scoreless frames in his first two outings, but in his third appearance he gave up three runs on four hits.
