  • Astros' Enyel De Los Santos: Stuck with loss

De Los Santos (0-1) took the loss Tuesday against the Guardians, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk in one-third of an inning. Tasked with protecting a two-run lead in the eighth inning, De Los Santos allowed three of the four batters he faced to reach safely, opening the door for Cleveland's six-run frame. Prior to Tuesday, De Los Santos had given up just one run across 7.2 innings in his first seven appearances this season while seeing closing opportunities in the absence of Josh Hader (biceps).

  • Astros' Enyel De Los Santos: Another save for Houston

De Los Santos earned the save with a perfect ninth inning in a 3-1 victory over the Rockies on Wednesday. He struck out two. The 30-year-old right-hander has now earned saves on consecutive days for Houston, career saves No. 4 and 5, as De Los Santos appears to be entering the closer mix in the absence of Josh Hader (biceps) and in light of Bryan Abreu's struggles this season. Abreu pitched 1.1 scoreless innings in Wednesday's victory, setting up the save chance for De Los Santos after Bryan King did as much Tuesday. De Los Santos' fastball velocity is down a couple ticks to around 94 mph this season, but it seems to be by design since he's cut his walk rate by more than half in the early going, an improvement that has helped fuel a 1.35 ERA and 0.75 WHIP through six appearances and 6.2 innings so far in 2026.

  • Astros' Enyel De Los Santos: Grabs rare save

De Los Santos earned the save Tuesday against the Rockies, striking out the only batter he faced. De Los Santos was called on in the ninth with two outs and runners at the corners after Bryan King allowed back-to-back singles, and he quickly shut the door. The right-hander needed just five pitches to sit down Jordan Beck and secure the win. The save was his first since 2024 and only his fourth in an eight-year career. Since returning from the injured list April 6, De Los Santos has been a reliable bullpen arm, allowing one run while striking out four over 5.2 innings.

  • Astros' Enyel De Los Santos: Returns from IL

The Astros activated De Los Santos (knee) from the 15-day injured list Monday. De Los Santos got a late start to the season due to a right knee strain, but he's ready to go after making four scoreless rehab appearances. The right-hander will operate in a middle relief role for Houston.

  • Astros' Enyel De Los Santos: Breezes through two rehab outings

De Los Santos (knee) has tossed 2.1 scoreless innings while striking out one and allowing no hits or walks in two appearances for Triple-A Sugar Land since starting a rehab assignment Friday. Through two appearances, the only blemish on De Los Santos' ledger has been a hit batsman, which came during his most recent outing Sunday. The right-hander opened the season on the shelf after he was out for most of spring training while recovering from a right knee strain, but he looks like he could soon be ready to rejoin the Houston bullpen. De Los Santos will be eligible for reinstatement from the injured list next week.

  • Astros' Enyel De Los Santos: Hits injured list with knee strain

The Astros placed Santos (knee) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday. Santos first injured his knee at the start of camp. He was able to return to make his spring training debut last week, but the reliever either had a setback or the Astros simply weren't convinced he was ready.

  • Astros' Enyel De Los Santos: Making spring debut next week

De Los Santos (knee) will make his Grapefruit League debut next week, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. The right-handed reliever has been shelved by a right knee strain since the start of camp, but he will progress to mound work Saturday before being slotted into game action. Barring setbacks, De Los Santos is expected to have enough time to prep for Opening Day.

  • Astros' Enyel De Los Santos: Cleared for mound work

De Los Santos (knee) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. It will be his first time throwing off the mound since he suffered a right knee strain at the start of Astros camp. De Los Santos should have enough time to prepare for Opening Day if all goes well from here on out. He's slated for a middle-relief role in Houston.

  • Astros' Enyel De Los Santos: Nearing mound work

De Los Santos (knee) is expected to begin throwing bullpen sessions sometime next week, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. De Los Santos has been shut down from throwing since he suffered a right knee strain at the start of camp. It remains unknown how far away he is from pitching in Grapefruit League games, though the Astros will likely also have the 30-year-old reliever face live hitters before using him in a competitive setting.

  • Astros' Enyel De Los Santos: Shut down with knee strain

Astros manager Joe Espada said Wednesday that De Los Santos has been shut down due to a right knee strain, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. It's unclear when De Los Santos might be cleared to throw again. The right-hander posted a 4.36 ERA and 62:24 K:BB over 66 innings between Atlanta and Houston in 2025. If healthy, De Los Santos is pegged for a middle relief role in the Astros' bullpen.

  • Astros' Enyel De Los Santos: Signs MLB deal with Houston

De Los Santos signed a one-year, major-league contract with the Astros on Thursday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. De Los Santos elected free agency after being DFA'd by Atlanta on July 30, and he'll now find a new home in the Astros' bullpen. The 29-year-old owns a 4.53 ERA and 1.31 WHIP through 43.2 innings this season and is likely ticketed for a middle-relief role in Houston. In order to clear roster space, the Astros optioned Nick Hernandez to Triple-A Sugar Land and designated Luis Contreras for assignment.

  • Braves' Enyel De Los Santos: Sent outright to Triple-A

Atlanta outrighted De Los Santos to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday. De Los Santos passed through waivers unclaimed after being booted off Atlanta's 40-man roster. Having been outrighted previously, De Los Santos has the ability to elect free agency, but it's not clear what his intentions are.

  • Braves' Enyel De Los Santos: Collects win Friday

De Los Santos (3-2) picked up the win Friday over the Cardinals, striking out one batter over two scoreless, hitless relief innings. Grant Holmes lasted only three innings as the starter, and De Los Santos took over for the fourth inning to protect a 6-5 lead. Masyn Winn, the first batter he faced, reached base on an error, but the right-hander retired to the next six Cardinals to kick off an impressive effort from the Atlanta bullpen, which delivered six shutout frames in total to preserve the victory. De Los Santos has been effective this season in a lower-leverage role, posting a 3.46 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 36:14 K:BB through 39 innings with two holds in 38 appearances.

  • Braves' Enyel De Los Santos: Nabs win Friday

De Los Santos (1-0) picked up the win Friday over the Twins, tossing 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. The journeyman right-hander entered the game with Atlanta down 4-1, and he got rewarded for his strong effort when his offense erupted for five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. De Los Santos has looked good in middle relief to begin the season, posting a 3.24 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 11:1 K:BB through 8.1 innings, but he has yet to record a save or a hold.

  • Braves' Enyel De Los Santos: Added to roster

Atlanta selected De Los Santos' contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday. De Los Santos earned a spot in Atlanta's Opening Day bullpen by permitting only two runs with a 7:1 K:BB over 6.2 Grapefruit League innings. The 29-year-old right-hander is likely to operation in low-leverage situations initially.

  • Yankees' Enyel De Los Santos: Departs 40-man roster

The Yankees designated De Los Santos for assignment Wednesday. The move comes two days after De Los Santos was bludgeoned for seven runs over a 1.2-inning relief appearance versus the White Sox. While his brief tenure with the Yankees has gone poorly, De Los Santos has a career 25.6 percent strikeout rate as a reliever and is under team control through 2026, so he could draw interest via trade or waivers.

  • Padres' Enyel De Los Santos: Picks up fifth hold

De Los Santos registered a hold against Atlanta on Friday, striking out one batter over a perfect two-thirds of an inning. De Los Santos entered in the seventh frame with the tying run at the plate and struck out Zack Short before getting Ronald Acuna to fly out to escape the danger. The hold was the first this month for the right-hander hurler, who had given up a homer in three of his previous four outings prior to Friday. The long ball has been an issue for De Los Santos this season -- of the six earned runs he's allowed, five have come on solo homers -- but he's otherwise been solid, posting a 3.12 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 23:4 K:BB while collecting five holds across 17.1 innings.

  • Padres' Enyel De Los Santos: Dealt to San Diego

San Diego acquired De Los Santos from the Guardians on Friday in exchange for Scott Barlow. De Los Santos, 27, registered a sharp 3.18 ERA with 123 strikeouts over 119 innings during his two-year run in Cleveland. The right-hander logged 70 relief appearances in 2023 and could be a bullpen workhorse for the Padres next season.

  • Guardians' Enyel De Los Santos: Emerges as reliable reliever

De Los Santos finished the season tied for 18th in the majors with 70 appearances. De Los Santos was a trusted part of the Guardians' bullpen throughout the year, though he wavered with a 5.59 ERA in September. He tossed a scoreless inning in Sunday's season-ending 5-2 loss to the Tigers. Overall, De Los Santos posted a 3.29 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 62:25 K:BB over 65.2 innings while adding 16 holds, a 5-2 record and three blown saves. With Emmanuel Clase in place as closer, De Los Santos is unlikely to see ninth-inning assignments often as long as he remains with Cleveland.

  • Guardians' Enyel De Los Santos: Picks up win in nightcap

De Los Santos (5-2) struck out the only batter he faced and earned the win in Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader versus the Tigers. De Los Santos got the last out in the top of the eighth inning, and the Guardians' offense rallied ahead in their half of the frame. He's allowed four runs over 6.2 innings in August, but he still has a solid 8:1 K:BB for the month, suggesting he's had a little bad luck. The right-hander is at a 2.84 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 46:19 K:BB while adding 13 holds over 50.2 innings this year as part of the bridge to closer Emmanuel Clase.
