Castano will serve as the 29th man for Friday's doubleheader against the Nationals and is expected to start Game 2, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

The 26-year-old will rejoin the active roster with Miami set to play it's final twin bill of the season. Castano has a 3.32 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 9:9 K:BB through 19 innings this season and may return to the alternate site after the outing.

Hudson is undergoing more tests on his forearm Friday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Hudson left Thursday's game against the Pirates due to an issue that was originally referred to as right elbow tightness. While an X-ray came back negative, the Cardinals are worried about a potential flexor tendon issue or some other forearm injury. Whether or not he can pitch again this season should become clear following the tests.

Ponce de Leon was recalled from the alternate training site for Friday's doubleheader and is set to start Game 2 against the Pirates.

The 28-year-old allowed two runs over six innings during Monday's twin bill and will rejoin the club to start Friday on three days rest. Ponce de Leon has a 6.23 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 30:16 K:BB through 21.2 innings this season, though he's coming off his best outing of the season.

White, who was previously thought to be a candidate to start Friday's game against Colorado, will instead remain on the taxi squad while Alex Wood gets the starting nod, per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register.

White pitched a four-inning simulated game Sunday in what some thought to be a warmup for a Friday start, but the Dodgers are instead opting to have Wood kick things off in the team's third bullpen game over the last six days. White is traveling with the Dodgers as part of their taxi squad but won't be eligible to pitch unless he is first placed on the active roster.

Kelly retired the only batter he faced in Thursday's win over Colorado.

After being held out of action for over five weeks due to a shoulder injury and the serving of a five-game suspension, Kelly was asked to face only one batter -- pinch hitter Ryan McMahon -- in the seventh inning Thursday. McMahon made Kelly work in the eight-pitch at-bat, but the reliever ultimately proved successful by inducing a groundout. Kelly has hurled only 6.2 innings overall this season and figures to be eased back into action as the Dodgers prepare for the postseason.

Crowe will be recalled to start Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader against the Marlins, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

The 26-year-old has made two spot starts for the Nationals this season and will make another one as the 29th man for Friday's twin bill. Crowe has allowed five runs on 10 hits with a 5:6 K:BB over six innings across his first two big-league outings.

Gallegos (groin) is expected to throw a bullpen session soon, the Associated Press reports.

Gallegos has been on the injured list since Friday after straining his groin the night prior against the Tigers. If the right-hander is able to throw his bullpen soon and do so without setbacks, he could remain on target to return when first eligible Monday.

Ponce de Leon will be recalled from the Cardinals' alternate training site to toe the rubber Friday night on just three days of rest, per Jones. The right-hander put together a solid outing in his last start Monday against the Brewers, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while fanning nine over six innings of work.

Young (2-4) gave up six runs on eight hits and a walk over 2.2 innings on Thursday, as the Diamondbacks fell to the Angels 7-3.

Making his sixth start of the season, Young lost his third straight and buoyed his season ERA to 5.44. Young's role is liable to change given his struggles of late.

Hudson's X-rays came back negative after he exited Thursday night's game against the Pirates due to right elbow soreness, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Hudson has received good news so far, though he'll likely be re-evaluated within the next few days to determine his status moving forward. His absence would be a big blow to the Cardinals, as he owns a 2.77 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 31 strikeouts over 37 frames so far this year.
