Nationals' Kyle Finnegan: Collects fifth save

Finnegan recorded his fifth save of the season in Monday's 5-4 victory over the Cubs, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

The right-hander breezed through the Cubs' 9-1-2 hitters on just nine pitches (seven strikes). Finnegan has two wins, four saves and a hold in eight appearances since the All-Star break, posting a 1.80 ERA and 0.80 WHIP over his last 10 innings despite a poor 4:2 K:BB. While he's not dominant, he does appear to be the Nationals' top high-leverage option.

  • Tanner Scott RP | LAD

Marlins' Tanner Scott: Picks up save

Scott allowed one hit and a walk in a scoreless inning and earned a save over the Padres on Monday.

One day after being tagged with three runs in a loss, Scott was thrust right back into a save situation Monday. He found himself in a two-out jam but escaped with his 17th save of the year. Over his last four outings, Scott has given up seven hits and five walks across just 4.1 frames but he's converted three out of those four save chances.

  • Phillies' Seranthony Dominguez: Collects ninth save

Dominguez picked up the save after striking out one in a scoreless inning Monday against the Reds.

Dominguez entered the contest with a one-run lead and only needed eight total pitches to slam the door. The right-hander continued his scoreless inning streak, as he's now appeared in 11 straight contests without surrendering a run (10.1 frames). Dominguez has fanned 12 and walked five over that stretch.

  • Padres' Steven Wilson: Back with big club

Wilson was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Monday.

Wilson was optioned to El Paso earlier this month, but he will rejoin the big club and take the place of Tanner Scott (finger), who landed on the injured list in the corresponding move.

  • Tayler Scott RP | ATL

Padres' Tayler Scott: Placed on injured list

Scott was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday retroactive to Aug. 13 with a right third finger laceration.

The extent of Scott's injury is unclear, but he will miss at least a couple weeks of action. Steven Wilson was added to the Padres' bullpen in the corresponding move.

  • Andrew Vasquez RP | DET

Phillies' Andrew Vasquez: Scrubbed from 40-man roster

Vasquez was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Monday.

Vasquez was claimed off waivers by the Phillies on Aug. 2 after he was DFA'd by the Blue Jays, but he will now either remain with Lehigh Valley, get claimed by another team or get released outright. Although he's struggled in limited major-league action this year, the left-hander has produced a 2.40 ERA over 15 innings in 14 appearances at Triple-A this season.

  • Sam Coonrod RP | NYM

Phillies' Sam Coonrod: Reinstated from IL

Coonrod (shoulder) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Coonrod will return to the Phillies' bullpen after suffering a shoulder strain in March and missing the entirety of the season to this point. The right-hander produced a 4.04 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with 48 strikeouts over 42.1 innings in 42 appearances with Philadelphia last year. He will replace Corey Knebel (lat) on the active roster after Knebel was placed on the 15-day IL Monday.

  • Tyler Matzek RP | NYY

Braves' Tyler Matzek: Collects third win

Matzek (3-2) picked up the win Sunday over the Marlins, allowing one hit and striking out one in a scoreless eighth inning.

Atlanta was in a 1-0 hole when Matzek took the mound, but he kept the deficit from getting worse and was rewarded when his team rallied in the top of the ninth. The southpaw has two wins and a save in his last three appearances, and in 17 innings since the beginning of July he sports a 2.65 ERA and 1.12 WHIP, albeit with a lackluster 13:8 K:BB.

  • Alexis Diaz RP | TEX

Reds' Alexis Diaz: Notches five-out save

Diaz allowed one hit and struck out four batters over 1.2 innings while earning a save over the Cubs on Sunday.

Diaz took the mound with the bases jammed in the eighth inning and promptly struck out the next two batters to escape the jam. He then worked out of another one-out threat in the ninth to pick up his fifth save of the year. The right-handed rookie lowered his season ERA to 1.83 with a 60:22 K:BB through 44.1 innings. Diaz has given up just one run over his last 16 appearances.

  • Derek Law RP | ARI

Reds' Derek Law: Signs minor-league deal with Reds

Law signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on Sunday.

Law was designated for assignment by the Tigers in early August and elected free agency after clearing waivers. He'll settle for a minor-league deal with the Reds and will report to Triple-A Louisville to begin his time with the organization. Over 33 appearances at Triple-A Toledo this year, the 31-year-old has posted a 3.23 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 39 innings.
