  • Marcelo Mayer 3B | BOS

Red Sox's Marcelo Mayer: 2025 return uncertain

Manager Alex Cora said Friday that Mayer (wrist) has begun taking dry swings, but it's unclear if he will return this season, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Mayer's recovery from right wrist soreness has been slow, even after undergoing an anti-inflammatory injection at the start of August. The 22-year-old began playing catch this week and has now begun swinging a bat. While it didn't initially seem like the injury would threaten to sideline Mayer for the rest of 2025, Cora was non-committal when asked about the rookie's return this season.

  • Mariners' Miles Mastrobuoni: Sent to Tacoma

Seattle optioned Mastrobuoni to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

Mastrobuoni will yield his spot n the 26-man roster to Luke Raley, who was activated off the injured list in a corresponding move. Mastrobuoni went hitless in two at-bats during his 16-day MLB stint.

  • Brady House 3B | WAS

Nationals' Brady House: Taking seat Friday

House is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies.

House will yield to the red-hot Paul DeJong at third base for the third time in five games. House has been struggling at the plate recently, notching five hits and a 37.5 percent K rate in his last 30 at-bats.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

    Mets' Brett Baty: Sitting Friday

Baty is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners.

Baty will get a breather after making four consecutive starts, three at third base and one at second. Ronny Mauricio will bat ninth and handle the hot corner instead. Baty has a .712 OPS in 310 plate appearances this season.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Scores three times in win

Ramirez went 3-for-4 with an RBI, three runs scored and two steals in Thursday's 9-4 win over the Marlins.

Ramirez has been on a run-scoring binge, crossing home plate 15 times over the last 14 contests. He's tied for 10th in MLB and leads the Guardians with 79 runs scored this season, giving him a shot to score 100 runs for a second straight season.

  • Paul DeJong 3B | WAS

    Nationals' Paul DeJong: Keeps raking

DeJong went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's 3-2 win over the Phillies.

DeJong's power surge persisted Thursday, lifting his fourth home run of the last eight games. The veteran infielder had just one homer in 95 plate appearances before the streak. DeJong's long ball also extended his hit streak to five games, a stretch in which he's gone 9-for-21 (.429) with seven RBI and five runs scored.

  • Vidal Brujan SS | ATL

Braves' Vidal Brujan: Another start in right field

Brujan will start in right field and bat seventh in Thursday's contest versus the Mets.

A recent waiver claim, Brujan might have passed Eli White in the pecking order in right field, as he's now started three of the last five games overall and three of the last four against right-handed pitching. However, it could be a moot point, as Ronald Acuna (calf) is due back any day now from the injured list. Brujan is 1-for-4 with a 1:4 K:BB in his first two games with Atlanta.

  • Rays' Junior Caminero: Plates three runs in victory

Caminero went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, two total runs and three total RBI in Wednesday's 8-2 win against the Athletics.

Caminero began his day with a first-inning, run-scoring double and added a two-run blast to left field in the ninth frame. The All-Star third baseman has been swinging a hot and powerful stick of late, notching multiple hits in five of his past seven games and clubbing six homers during that span while batting .414 (12-for-29). Caminero is third in the American League with 34 homers on the season after entering the campaign with just seven big-league homers across 50 career contests.

  • Kyle Karros 3B | COL

Rockies' Kyle Karros: Scores three runs

Karros went 2-for-3 a double, a walk and three runs scored Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Karros made his sixth straight start since being called up Friday and has at least one hit in five of those contests, including two multi-hit performances. He contributed to two key rallies for Rockies on Wednesday, doubling to lead off the seventh inning and walking to lead off the final frame while coming around to score on both occasions. Karros doesn't have one standout tool, but he should be a source of decent counting stats and batting average.

  • Graham Pauley 3B | MIA

Marlins' Graham Pauley: Perfect at plate in rout

Pauley went 4-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 13-4 win over the Guardians.

Pauley reached base in all five plate appearances, highlighted by a 403-foot homer in the sixth inning. The 24-year-old has been productive in August, going 8-for-24 with three homers and a stolen base. For the year, he's slashing .239/.318/.388 with four long balls, 11 RBI, 15 runs scored and two steals across 152 plate appearances. He should continue to see regular at-bats while Connor Norby (wrist) remains sidelined.
