Mets' Brett Baty: Exits game with knee injury
Baty was removed from Wednesday's game against the Marlins due to an apparent knee injury.
Baty appeared to tweak his knee on an RBI single in the second inning. He was removed from the game and replaced by Christopher Morel at first base, and the Mets should have an update on Baty's status during or shortly after Wednesday's contest once he's evaluated further.

Mets' Brett Baty: Dealing with left knee pain
Baty was diagnosed with left knee pain following his removal from Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
Baty sustained the injury on an RBI single in the second inning, prompting his removal from the game after being briefly evaluated by a trainer. The Mets are off Thursday, and follow-up tests will determine whether Baty will be cleared to play in Friday's series opener against the Yankees.

Mets' Brett Baty: Drives in two runs Tuesday
Baty went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly and a solo home run during the Mets' 7-5 win over the Marlins on Tuesday.
Baty was responsible for two of the seven runs the Mets scored against Sandy Alcantara, with Baty smacking a solo homer in the third inning before bringing Jacob Young home on a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Baty has driven in at least one run in four of his last five games, going 5-for-13 with three doubles, two home runs, nine RBI and three runs scored in that span.

Mets' Brett Baty: On bench against lefty
Baty is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
The left-handed-hitting Baty will retreat to the bench for the second time in the series while the Giants send a southpaw (Cesar Perdomo) to the hill. For the season, Baty is slashing just .171/.275/.229 (49 wRC+) in 80 plate appearances against lefties.

Mets' Brett Baty: Bases-clearing double in Wednesday's win
Baty went 1-for-2 with a three-run double during the Mets' 10-4 win over the Rays on Wednesday.
Baty doubled the Mets' 3-0 lead in the third inning with a bases-clearing double off Griffin Jax. It was Baty's fifth game of at least three RBI this season and second since Aug. 1. Since the All-Star break, he is slashing .229/.281/.434 with four home runs and 12 RBI across 89 plate appearances.

Mets' Brett Baty: Taking seat Monday
Baty is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.
Baty will take a seat for the second day in a row, after he had started in each of the Mets' prior four contests. With the Orioles picking up Luis Robert via a waiver claim Monday and with Juan Soto likely to be limited to the designated-hitter spot following his recent return from the injured list, Baty could end up getting fairly steady playing time versus right-handed pitching in a corner-outfield spot.

Mets' Brett Baty: Taking seat Sunday
Baty is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Baty will hit the bench after starting the last three games at three different positions. Though he doesn't have a defensive home, Baty should play fairly regularly against right-handed pitching while Juan Soto (calf) remains sidelined.

Mets' Brett Baty: Hitting bench against righty
Baty is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.
Though he'll take a seat against righty Walker Buehler in the series opener, Baty has maintained a strong-side platoon role for much of August. Baty doesn't have a home at any one position, but his ability to play multiple spots on the diamond and in the outfield had helped him pick up starts in each of the Mets' previous eight matchups with righties.

Mets' Brett Baty: Launches grand slam in win
Baty went 1-for-3 with a grand slam and a walk in Monday's 8-5 win over Atlanta.
Baty broke things open in the first inning with his first career grand slam off Bryce Elder. The 26-year-old Baty has gone just 4-for-27 over his past 10 games, but two of those hits have left the yard. On the season, he's slashing .215/.286/.330 with eight homers, 38 RBI, 42 runs scored and five steals across 379 plate appearances.

Mets' Brett Baty: Goes deep Wednesday
Baty went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Guardians.
Baty, who was making his first start in four games, opened the scoring in the third inning with an opposite-field shot off Tanner Bibee, his seventh homer of the year. Baty had gone just 3-for-22 (.136) in eight games prior to Wednesday as he'd seen his playing time diminish with the returns of Luis Robert and Jorge Polanco. Overall, Baty's slashing .219/.290/.330 across 362 plate appearances this season with 41 runs scored, 32 RBI and five stolen bases.

Mets' Brett Baty: Heading to bench Sunday
Baty is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.
Baty will hit the bench Sunday after he made starts at three different infield positions in the previous three games. The 26-year-old doesn't have a clear path to steady playing time at any one position, but his ability to play all over the infield as well as both corner outfield spots should allow him to continue seeing semi-regular at-bats versus right-handed pitching.

Mets' Brett Baty: Starts Wednesday, but could lose PT
Baty will start in right field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Brewers.
With Juan Soto and Luis Robert resting for the series finale in Milwaukee, Baty will pick up a start in the outfield alongside A.J. Ewing and Carson Benge. Robert's return from the IL earlier this week looks like it could result in Baty fading into more of a part-time role, as the Mets already sent the 26-year-old to the bench against right-hander Brandon Sproat during Tuesday's 4-0 win. Baty has produced a palatable .273/.293/.436 slash line thus far in July, but he's still holding down an underwhelming .614 OPS over 340 plate appearances on the season.

Mets' Brett Baty: Hits late homer vs. Boston
Baty went 3-for-4 with a steal, a solo home run and an additional run scored during the Mets' 6-2 loss to the Red Sox on Friday.
Baty made Friday's score look a little more respectable for the Mets by belting a solo home run in the ninth inning, his fourth long ball of the season and first since May 18 against the Nationals. His three hits were a season high and his most in a game since Sept. 17, 2025. Baty's hitting streak is up to 10 games, during which he has gone 13-for-38 (.342) with two steals, five RBI, five extra-base hits and eight runs scored.

Mets' Brett Baty: On bench versus lefty
Baty is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.
Baty will head to the bench along with fellow left-handed batters MJ Melendez and Jared Young while the Cubs send southpaw Shota Imanaga to the bump for the series opener. With Baty taking a seat, Bo Bichette will shift over to third base and Zack Short will enter the lineup at shortstop.

Mets' Brett Baty: Idle against southpaw
Baty is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
The left-handed hitter will retreat to the bench in the series finale, ceding his spot to the newly acquired Zack Short, with Bo Bichette shifting back to third base from shortstop while the Reds send lefty Nick Lodolo to the bump. While starting each of the Mets' last three games, Baty was able to get on base seven times, but he's still slashing an underwhelming .226/.303/.318 on the season. He could fade into a part-time role once the Mets get Francisco Lindor (calf) back from the injured list.

Mets' Brett Baty: Mired in slump
Baty went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Monday's loss to the Reds.
The 26-year-old continues to get regular starts at third base while the Mets cover for the absence of Francisco Lindor (calf) and other infielders, but Baty has done little with the opportunity. He hasn't homered in 24 straight games, slashing just .211/.277/.237 over that stretch with two doubles, five runs, six RBI and a 28.9 percent strikeout rate that would be a career-worst mark. Lindor is ramping up his activity level and is expected back before the end of the month, and his return should bump Bo Bichette back to third base and send Baty back to the bench, or potentially even Triple-A Syracuse.

Mets' Brett Baty: Extends hit streak with homer
Baty went 2-for-6 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Monday's extra-innings win over the Nationals.
The 26-year-old launched a solo shot off Jake Irvin in the fourth inning before getting in on the fun during the Mets' 10-run eruption in the top of the 12th with a two-run single. Baty's long ball was just his third of the season, but two of them have come during his current seven-game hitting streak, a stretch that has seen him hit .345 (10-for-29) with a double, four runs and seven RBI.
