Jace Peterson SS | ARI
Brewers' Jace Peterson: Not starting Monday
Peterson isn't starting Monday's game against the Cubs.
Peterson had started each of the last two games and went hitless with one walk and three strikeouts in eight plate appearances. Keston Hiura will shift to second base Monday while Daniel Vogelbach starts at first base.

Kevin Newman 3B | LAA
Pirates' Kevin Newman: Slow start at plate
Newman went 1-for-5 with a run in Sunday's 7-1 win against the Cubs.
Since going 2-for-5 on Opening Day, Newman has collected only four hits in 27 at-bats. He's totaled one extra-base hit (a double) and no stolen base attempts. The team has batted him in various spots of the lineup without success. As a result, he could lose some playing time to Erik Gonzalez at shortstop until he regains his batting stroke.

Evan Longoria 3B | ARI
Giants' Evan Longoria: Knocks in pair
Longoria went 2-for-4 while knocking in two during Sunday's win over the Rockies.
The 35-year-old has seemingly found the fountain of youth in 2021, as he knocked in two off Carlos Estevez in the seventh inning. Longoria is currently slashing .333/.394/.667 and has been a crucial element to the Giants' hot start.

Eduardo Escobar 3B | TOR
Diamondbacks' Eduardo Escobar: Swats two-run homer
Escobar went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's victory over the Reds.
Escobar cracked a two-run shot in the fifth inning off Jose De Leon. The 32-year-old is slashing .216/.256/.595 in a Diamondbacks lineup that is in desperate need of bats to heat up.

J.D. Davis 1B | LAA
Mets' J.D. Davis: Making progress
Davis (hand) said Sunday that he's been able to field ground balls without issue in recent days, leaving him optimistic that he'll avoid an extended stay on the 10-day injured list, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.
Though Davis received multiple X-rays that returned negative after he was struck on the left hand by a pitch Tuesday, the Mets still elected to place him on the IL on Saturday to give him some time to recover from the bruise. Davis noted that while he doesn't feel affected by the injury in the field, he'll still need the swelling on his hand to subside before he's completely comfortable swinging a bat. Luis Guillorme filled in for Davis at third base in Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Manny Machado 3B | SD
Padres' Manny Machado: Tossed from contest Saturday
Machado was ejected from Saturday's win against Texas in the eighth inning. He went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and an RBI prior to his departure.
Machado came up to bat with the bases loaded and two outs in the eighth, working a 3-0 count before ultimately whiffing on a called third strike. His displeasure with the call led to his ejection, but it didn't affect the outcome of the game. Machado is unlikely to face further discipline, so the only impact for fantasy managers who roster him is the missed opportunity on the bases-loaded strikeout.

Max Muncy 3B | LAD
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Reaches base four times
Muncy went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and scored two runs in a victory over the Nationals on Saturday.
Muncy has been an on-base machine in the early going, racking up 11 hits, nine walks and a HBP across 39 plate appearances for a superb .538 OBP -- second best in the National League. At the heart of his success this season is a 10.3 percent strikeout rate that is a vast improvement over the 24.2 percent mark he posted in 2020.

Eduardo Escobar 3B | TOR
Diamondbacks' Eduardo Escobar: Dials in after slow start
Escobar went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a second RBI and a second run scored in Saturday's 8-3 win over the Reds.
Escobar was one of several Arizona regulars who slumped to begin the season, going 1-for-21 over the first five games, but he's turned that around in a big way. His seventh-inning home run was his third in as many contests, and the infielder is 5-for-11 with six RBI and five runs scored during that stretch.
-
Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Blasts another homer
McMahon went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run during Saturday's 4-3 loss at San Francisco.
The 26-year-old was 1-for-11 in the previous three games since launching three homers Tuesday against Arizona, but he returned to the home-run column Saturday. McMahon is 11-for-33 with five home runs, two doubles, seven runs and eight RBI through nine games this season.

Kevin Newman 3B | LAA
Pirates' Kevin Newman: Not starting Saturday
Newman isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs.
Newman was named the team's primary shortstop and has gone 5-for-27 with a double and one RBI in seven games to begin the year. However, Erik Gonzalez will take over at shortstop Saturday, batting fifth.
