Suarez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Phillies. Suarez accounted for Cincinnati's only offense Tuesday, taking Zack Wheeler deep in the seventh inning for his ninth home run of the season. Since his two-homer performance against the Mets on June 15, the veteran slugger has cooled off, batting .167 with a 39.7 percent strikeout rate. On the year, Suarez is slashing .207/.280/.374 with 10 doubles, 32 RBI and 21 runs scored across 246 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Good to go Tuesday

Suarez (wrist) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Tuesday against the Brewers. The veteran slugger sat out Monday's contest due to left wrist inflammation after being hit by a pitch Sunday, but he'll end up missing just one game. Through 22 contests in June, Suarez has struggled to a .185/.241/.383 slash line with four homers, 14 RBI and five runs.

  • Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Held out of lineup Monday

Suarez (wrist) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers. Suarez went 0-for-2 before exiting Sunday's 9-4 loss to the Pirates after being hit in the left wrist by a pitch in the sixth inning. According to Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer, Suarez said that X-rays and a CT scan on his wrist both returned negative, leaving him optimistic that he'll be "ready to go" for the Reds' four-game set in Milwaukee. The Reds will keep him on the bench for the series opener, however, as Elly De La Cruz gets a night off from playing shortstop while he manages a sprained ankle but sticks in the starting nine at Suarez's usual spot at designated hitter.

  • Reds' Eugenio Suarez: X-rays inconclusive

Suarez (hand/wrist) underwent X-rays, which were inconclusive, after his departure from Sunday's 9-4 loss to the Pirates, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports. Suarez left Sunday's contest in the eighth inning after taking a 92.4 mph four-seam fastball from Mitch Keller off his left hand/wrist in the top of the sixth. The veteran slugger is expected to undergo additional imaging Monday morning, and his status moving forward will likely be updated then. The Reds are set to host the Brewers for a four-game set beginning Monday, and Suarez can be considered day-to-day for the time being.

The veteran third baseman did all of his damage in the game's first two frames, finishing with a season-high six RBI and recording his first multi-homer game of the year. • Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Rehab assignment coming

Suarez (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports. Suarez's recovery from a left oblique strain has come along more slowly than anticipated, but he's finally progressed to the point of being cleared to play in games. The veteran slugger has been sidelined for nearly a month, so he will likely need a handful of rehab contests before returning from the 10-day injured list.

  • Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Takes batting practice on field

Suarez (oblique) took batting practice on the field Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports. Suarez underwent an MRI on Thursday that showed the healing he and the team were hoping to see, per Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. He was cleared to do all the normal pre-game on-field work with teammates. This was the first time he's taken BP on the field since suffering a left oblique strain in late April. It's likely the veteran slugger will need some rehab games before returning to the Reds' roster, but manager Terry Francona noted that it was still too early to schedule or set a target date for a rehab assignment.

  • Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Resuming hitting Tuesday

Suarez (oblique) will resume hitting Tuesday and is set for an MRI on Thursday to check the progress of his healing, Charlie Clifford of NBC 5 Cincinnati reports. If the Reds like what they see with Suarez's imaging later this week, he will travel with the team on its upcoming road trip and continue to ramp up his activities. A rehab assignment should come shortly after that if all goes well. Suarez has been sidelined since late April with a left oblique strain, but he should be able to make it back before the end of May if he remains free of setbacks.

  • Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Oblique still sore

Reds manager Terry Francona said Wednesday that Suarez's left oblique remains tender, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports. The hope is that Suarez will improve enough in the coming days before getting re-imaged during the Reds' May 1-7 road trip. He would then be able to ramp up baseball activities if the scans yield favorable results. Suarez is eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list Saturday, but it's looking like he won't return until at least mid-May. Nathaniel Lowe will continue to serve as the Reds' primary designated hitter while Suarez is sidelined.

  • Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Officially lands on IL

The Reds placed Suarez (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to April 24. Suarez is dealing with a "mild" left oblique strain and will miss at least 10 days, though it's not clear at this point if his absence will extend longer. Suarez has spent most of his time this season at DH, and Cincinnati could deploy different hitters in that spot while the veteran slugger is out. Nathaniel Lowe got the start at DH on Friday and could be the biggest beneficiary in terms of playing time.

  • Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Bound for injured list

The Reds will place Suarez on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a low-grade oblique strain, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports. The Reds initially announced that Suarez was dealing with mid-back pain when they scratched him from the lineup ahead of Friday's game. Further evaluation revealed that the 34-year-old infielder suffered an oblique injury and will have to spend time on the injured list because of it. The team hasn't yet provided a return timeline for him, but because his injury is labeled as "low-grade," he may not need to spend much more than the minimum 10 days on the shelf. In the meantime, Nathaniel Lowe figures to step in as Cincinnati's primary designated hitter against right-handers.
