Longoria retreated to the bench for Friday's series opener against the Rockies due to some mild side effects after he received the COVID-19 vaccine. However, he'll return to third base and bat fifth against Colorado on Saturday.

Davis has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left hand contusion, retroactive to April 7.
Davis was hit by a pitch on his left hand Tuesday, and his X-rays were negative. However, he'll still require additional time on the shelf to fully recover. Jonathan Villar and Luis Guillorme should fill in at third base in his absence. Jose Peraza's contract was selected by the Mets in a corresponding move.

Brewers' Jace Peterson: Starting against Cardinals
Peterson is starting Saturday's game against the Cardinals.
Peterson's contract was selected by the Brewers on Saturday after Kolten Wong (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list. While Daniel Robertson should see most of the playing time at second base in Wong's absence, Peterson will make his season debut at the keystone Saturday, batting seventh.

Peterson's contract was selected by the Brewers on Saturday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Peterson served as a non-roster invitee this spring but aggravated a thumb injury late in camp. While he spent the start of the regular season recovering, he'll join the major-league roster after Kolten Wong (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday. Peterson slashed .200/.393/.356 with two home runs and five RBI in 30 games with the Brewers in 2020.

Davis (wrist) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Davis will miss a third straight game after he was hit in the hand by a pitch Tuesday against the Phillies. Jonathan Villar will start at third base Saturday, batting eighth.

Escobar went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double and an additional run scored Friday in a loss to the Reds.
Escobar was the the only Arizona batter with multiple hits in the contest, and he came through with a two-run shot to right field in the eighth inning to tie the game 5-5. After struggling through a 1-for-21 start to the season, the veteran infielder has gone 3-for-7 with a pair of homers and four RBI over his past two games.

Reds' Nick Senzel: Day off Friday
Senzel is not in the lineup Friday against the Diamondbacks.
Senzel is 5-for-14 with one triple, one double, nine runs, two RBI and five walks through six games, but he'll take a seat Friday in Arizona. Tyler Naquin will receive the start in center field, batting sixth.

Nationals' Carter Kieboom: Optioned to alternate site
Kieboom was optioned to the alternate training site Friday.
The 23-year-old joined the big-league club for the first three games of the season due to the team's COVID-19 outbreak, and he'll head to the alternate site after going 0-for-1 with a walk in two games. Kieboom figures to head to Triple-A when the minor-league season begins unless the Nats have another emergency situation in the infield.

The 35-year-old will head to the bench for the first time after going 7-for-22 with three homers to begin the season. Wilmer Flores will start at third base Friday in Longoria's absence.

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Goes deep in home opener
Arenado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in the 3-1 win over the Brewers on Thursday.
Arenado's home run in the eighth inning off Drew Rasmussen gave the Cardinals the lead. It was fitting that Arenado won the game for the Cardinals in their home opener after they traded for him to be the centerpiece of their offense. The 29-year-old has at least one hit in all seven games this season along with two home runs and five RBI.
