Machado went 5-for-6 with a home run, four runs, two RBI and two stolen bases in Thursday's 12-1 rout of Atlanta.

Machado entered Thursday with six hits in 26 at-bats, and he almost matched that hit total in just six trips to the plate Thursday. The veteran third baseman recorded a base knock in each of his first five trips to the plate before flying out in his final at-bat in the eighth inning. It was just the second time in his career that Machado has managed five hits in one game, and he sweetened his stat line with a pair of steals and a seventh-inning two-run homer. With the huge performance, Machado upped his season batting average over 100 points from .231 to .344.

Senzel's absence from the lineup Thursday is not related to injury, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Senzel collided with Tommy Pham in the outfield and has been out the lineup the last two games. However, the Reds have not announced an injury and manager David Bell confirmed that Senzel's absence is not related to a health issue. Jake Fraley will draw the start in center field Thursday in Senzel's absence, while Colin Moran will enter the lineup as the designated hitter.

Senzel isn't starting Thursday's game against the Dodgers.

The Reds haven't indicated that Senzel is hurt after he was involved in a collision Tuesday, but he'll be out of the lineup for a second consecutive day. Jake Fraley will start in center field while Colin Moran serves as the designated hitter Thursday.

Anderson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Phillies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Anderson was included in the lineup in each of the Marlins' previous four games, going a collective 2-for-14 at the plate while drawing three starts in right field and one at third base. Avisail Garcia missed the past two games with a back issue has returned to the lineup Thursday, meaning Anderson's run as an everyday player is likely over. Anderson should still play regularly against left-handed pitching and make an occasional start against right-handed pitching when manager Don Mattingly wants to extend rest to one of the team's regulars.

McMahon (calf) will start at third base and bat sixth Thursday against the Cubs, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

McMahon was absent from Tuesday's win over the Rangers due to calf soreness, but he'll be back in action for Thursday's series opener against the Cubs. He's gone 3-for-14 with two doubles, three runs, an RBI and six strikeouts in his first four games of the season.

Segura (hand) will sit Thursday against the Marlins.

Segura left Wednesday's game against the Mets after getting hit by a pitch in his hand. While he said after the game that he hoped to play Thursday, the Phillies evidently feel he'd be better served by a day off. He's unlikely to be available off the bench but is considered day-to-day, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Bryson Stott will get the start at second base.

Newman went 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk and two RBI on Wednesday against the Cubs.

Newman delivered a two-RBI triple in the third inning to put the Pirates up 5-1. Though he has a .097 ISO across 1,371 career plate appearacnes, Newman has quietly started the 2022 campaign with some pop in his bat. Across 21 plate appearances, he has delivered two doubles and a triple, and he has also tallied one hit in four of his five starts.

Muncy went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks Wednesday against the Twins.

Muncy capped off a strong offensive day for the Dodgers by taking Griffin Jax yard in the ninth inning. It was only his second hit of the campaign -- and his first home run -- though he has also walked five times in only five games. Muncy has occupied the cleanup role in four of his five starts, so he should provide plentiful counting stats once his bat heats up.

Segura experienced some numbness in his hand after being hit by a pitch Wednesday against the Mets, but he felt better after leaving the game and believes he could play Thursday versus the Marlins, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The fact Segura briefly dealt with some numbness isn't a great sign, but it doesn't appear he's much the worse for wear. Still, the Phillies could hold him out of the lineup Thursday as a precaution, and the 32-year-old should be considered day-to-day.

Riley went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Nationals.

The third baseman ruined Washington's shutout bid in the sixth inning by taking Kyle Finnegan deep, but it was the only offense Atlanta could muster on the afternoon. Riley is batting .333 (8-for-24) through seven games to begin the season with two homers, five RBI and five runs scored.
