Jace Peterson SS | ARI
Brewers' Jace Peterson: On bench against left-hander
Peterson isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Orioles.
Peterson has gone 0-for-9 with a walk, a steal and a strikeout to begin the season, and he'll take a seat for the second time in the last three games with lefty John Means on the mound for Baltimore. Mike Brosseau will start at third base and bat eighth.

Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN
Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Four knocks in win
Hayes went 4-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs in Wednesday's win over the Cubs.
Hayes most notably drove in teammate Hoy Park with a single in the fourth inning, his third knock of the game. After signing a long-term extension with the Pirates earlier this month, the 25-year-old has started off the 2022 campaign red-hot, going 9-for-18 from the plate in the first five contests. If Hayes can keep swinging a hot bat to go with his elite defensive ability, he has the tools to become one of the top third basemen in MLB.

Jean Segura 3B | CLE
Phillies' Jean Segura: Leaves game after HBP
Segura was removed from Wednesday's game against the Mets in the bottom of the sixth inning after being hit by a pitch on his left arm, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Segura went 1-for-2 with a strikeout to begin Wednesday's matchup, but he was replaced by a pinch runner after being hit by a pitch. If the 32-year-old is forced to miss additional time, Johan Camargo and Alec Bohm should see an uptick in at-bats.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Hammers homer in win
Arenado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Royals.
Arenado opened the scoring in the first inning with his third long ball of the season. The third baseman has been locked in at the plate from the jump -- he's batting .438 with nine RBI and five runs scored while also lacing three doubles. He slashed .255/.312/.494 in 157 games last season, and it's reasonable to think he can match or improve on those numbers in 2022.

Max Muncy 3B | LAD
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Draws three walks
Muncy went 0-for-2 with three walks and a run scored in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Twins.
Muncy has recorded only one hit in the Dodgers' first four games, but at least in Tuesday's game, he displayed the sort of plate discipline that aided him to a .368 on-base average in 2021. The 31-year-old should continue to see more plate appearances with runners on base with the likes of Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Trea Turner batting ahead of him, though it's fair to wonder if Muncy will be able to replicate last season's power production after suffering a UCL tear in his left elbow last fall. Muncy returned to action early in spring training, but he went 5-for-27 in Cactus League play and produced only two extra-base hits (both doubles).

Nick Madrigal 2B | LAA
Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Gets first day off
Madrigal is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.
He'll bow out of the starting nine for the first time all season after going 1-for-15 with a walk through four games. Jonathan Villar steps in for Madrigal at second base.

Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA
Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Strikeouts mounting
Wisdom will start at third base and bat seventh Wednesday against the Pirates.
After batting third in Tuesday's 2-1 win, Wisdom will drop back down to a bottom-third spot in the order, where he's resided in both of his other two starts this season. Wisdom entered 2022 with one of the more volatile profiles, as he slugged 28 home runs in 106 games last season but struck out in 40.9 percent of his plate appearances. He's been more bust than boom thus far, whiffing in seven of his 15 plate appearances while providing no extra-base hits.
-
Austin Riley 3B | ATL
Braves' Austin Riley: Reaches base three times
Riley went 1-for-4 with a double, two walks, two runs and two RBI in Tuesday's 16-4 win over the Nationals.
Atlanta's offense had struggled heading into Tuesday, but Riley was one of several hitters that woke up from their season-long slumber. He'll start at third base and bat third in Wednesday's series finale, taking a .286/.444/.524 slash line into the contest.

Nick Senzel 3B | LAD
Reds' Nick Senzel: Sitting after outfield collision
Senzel is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.
Senzel will take a seat for the series finale, one day after he and Tommy Pham were involved in a collision in the outfield during Tuesday's 10-5 loss. Pham ended up exiting the game early with a left hand injury, but Senzel stayed in and played all nine innings and finished 0-for-3 at the dish. The Reds haven't indicated that Senzel is feeling any lingering effects of the collision a day later, so his absence from the lineup Wednesday may just be precautionary due to the quick turnaround for the game, which begins at 12:35 p.m. ET.

Nick Senzel 3B | LAD
Reds' Nick Senzel: Stays in game after collision
Senzel went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Tuesday's loss to the Guardians. He stayed in the game after colliding with Tommy Pham in the outfield in the third inning.
Pham was forced to leave the game as a result of the collision, though fortunately Pham's X-rays were negative. Senzel has been spectacular in center field in the early going this season, but he's batting .118 with a .294 OPS after Tuesday's 0-for-3. If there's any lingering soreness following the collision, manager David Bell could use it as an excuse to give Senzel a day off.
