  • Connor Norby 2B | MIA

Marlins' Connor Norby: Back in lineup Wednesday

Norby (foot) will start at third base and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh.

Norby was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with lingering left foot soreness as a result of a foul ball off the foot in Monday's game. He checked out fine and is back in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Goes deep again Tuesday

Muncy went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs.

Muncy took Shota Imanaga deep in the fifth for his second home run over the last three game. He nearly had a two-run homer in the ninth with the Dodgers down three runs, but Pete Crow-Armstrong reached over the wall and made a web gem catch to rob Muncy and end the game. Muncy has now reached base six times over the last four games while posting a 3:2 BB:K. For the year, he's hitting .228/.339/.497 with 13 homers, 38 RBI, 35 runs and a 32:66 BB:K in 230 plate appearances.

Marlins' Connor Norby: Nursing sore foot

Norby was scratched from Tuesday's lineup versus the Pirates due to left foot soreness, MLB.com reports.

Norby fouled a pitch off the foot during Monday's game and has some lingering discomfort. He was set to undergo further testing, but Marlins manager Skip Schumaker believes Norby will be OK. Consider him day-to-day for the time being.

Marlins' Connor Norby: Scratched from Miami lineup

Norby (undisclosed) was scratched from Tuesday's lineup in Pittsburgh.

Norby had been slated to play third base and bat second, but he's been scratched for an unspecified reason. The Marlins should offer more on his status soon. David Hensley will enter the lineup at first base, while Jake Burger will shift across the diamond to third base.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Yet to resume baseball activities

Pirates manager Derek Shelton said Tuesday that Hayes (back) has yet to resume baseball activities, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Hayes landed on the 10-day injured list more than three weeks ago with a back injury that has nagged at him for much of the season. Shelton also noted Tuesday that, as of now, offseason surgery for Hayes is not under consideration. However, the third baseman is clearly not close to returning, and at this point it's fair to wonder whether he will make it back at all this season. Jared Triolo has been operating as the Pirates' everyday third baseman since Hayes went down and will continue to hold down that spot.

  • Reds' Santiago Espinal: Slides to second base

Espinal started at second base and went 0-for-4 in Monday's 1-0 win over Atlanta.

Espinal, who has been seeing regular duty at third base, moved over to second to cover for the injured Jonathan India (elbow), who was removed from Sunday's contest and absent from Monday's lineup. Espinal is 4-for-21 over the last six games, but his second-half body of work remains strong -- he's batting .358/.402/.514 over 33 games since the All-Star break.

  • Cam Smith 3B | HOU

Cubs' Cam Smith: Receives another promotion

The Cubs promoted Smith from High-A South Bend to Double-A Tennessee on Monday, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

South Bend's season came to an end Sunday, but Smith will get the opportunity to play on for at least another two weeks while he links up with Tennessee. The No. 14 overall pick of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft has gotten off to a stellar start to his professional career with a combined .323/.412/.635 slash line and a 14:21 BB:K over 114 plate appearances between South Bend and Single-A Myrtle Beach.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

Cubs' Isaac Paredes: Lifts offense in return

Paredes went 1-for-3 with two RBI in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Yankees.

After getting a breather Saturday, Paredes returned on Sunday and keyed the offense with a two-RBI single in the first inning, which was enough for the win in the pitchers' duel. Paredes is still scuffling a bit, however, as he's batting just .207 over his last 10 games and is hitting .167 in 35 games overall with the Cubs since coming over in a trade. Despite the struggles, the 25-year-old should remain locked into an everyday role.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Homers as part of four-hit day

Suarez went 4-for-5 with a solo homer and four runs scored in Sunday's win over the Astros.

Suarez tallied his second four-hit game over the last two weeks and his seventh multi-hit effort in 16 games since Aug. 23. His turnaround at the dish this season has been remarkable. Through June 30, he was slashing just .196/.279/.312 with six homers and a .591 OPS. Since July 1, he leads the majors in RBI (58), is tied for first in home runs (20) and is third in runs (53). For the year, he's slashing .250/.318/.467 with 26 homers, 90 RBI, 80 runs, two steals and a 46:151 BB:K in 566 plate appearances.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: Homers, swipes bag in win

Chapman went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Padres.

Chapman took Joe Musgrove deep in the fourth to get the Giants on the board for his 23rd of the season. He now has at least a hit in 11 of his last 12 starts and is slashing .357/.386/.643 with a 1.029 OPS over that span. Chapman also swiped his 15th base of the year and is 15-for-17 on stolen base attempts this season after coming into the year just 11-for-23 in that category for his career. A 20-20 campaign is not out of reach for the 31-year-old, who is now slashing .251/.334/.451 with 58 extra-base hits, 71 RBI, 92 runs and a 61:145 BB:K in 595 plate appearances.
