  • Giants' Bryce Eldridge: Called up, serving as DH

The Giants selected Eldridge's contract from Triple-A Sacramento, and he will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth against the Diamondbacks on Monday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The move paves the way for Eldridge to make his major-league debut in Monday's series opener. The 21-year-old was promoted to Triple-A in early June and has since slashed .249/.322/.514 with one steal, 31 runs, 13 doubles, 18 home runs and 63 RBI across 286 plate appearances. He'll serve as the DH in his debut, but Eldridge should also work on the strong side of the platoon at first base with Wilmer Flores across the final two weeks of the regular season.

  • Emmet Sheehan SP | LAD

Dodgers' Emmet Sheehan: Slated for bulk relief Monday

Sheehan is slated to work in a bulk relief role in Monday's game against the Phillies, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Left-hander Anthony Banda will serve as the Dodgers' opener before handing things off to the right-handed Sheehan. Each of Sheehan's last six appearances have been traditional starts, and he's coming off one of his best outings of the season, having held the Rockies to one run while fanning nine over seven frames.

  • Anthony Banda RP | MIN

Dodgers' Anthony Banda: Serving as opener Monday

Banda will serve as the Dodgers' opening pitcher in Monday's game versus the Phillies, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Lefties are hitting just .154/.233/.231 against the left-handed Banda this season, so it makes sense to have him face lefty sluggers Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper in the first inning. Banda will likely work just the one inning before handing things off to Emmet Sheehan in bulk relief.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

    Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Sitting Monday

Edman is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Phillies on Monday, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Edman will take a seat after going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI during the Dodgers' 10-2 win over the Giants on Sunday. Miguel Rojas will start at second base and bat sixth while Alex Call, Andy Pages and Teoscar Hernandez man the outfield from left to right.

  • Cam Devanney 3B | PIT

Pirates' Cam Devanney: Not in Pittsburgh lineup

Devanney is not in the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Cubs.

It's the second straight day out of the lineup for Devanney. The Pirates are going with Jared Triolo at third base and Nick Gonzales at shortstop in Monday's series opener.

  • Henry Davis C | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Sitting out Monday

Davis is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest against the Cubs.

Davis will yield to Joey Bart at catcher for the second day in a row. The two have split playing time behind the dish the month, with Davis receiving seven starts to Bart's six.

  • Oneil Cruz CF | PIT

Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Sitting against right-hander

Cruz is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.

The Cubs are sending right-hander Jameson Taillon to the bump, but the left-handed-hitting Cruz will nonetheless retreat to the bench in the series opener. It's the third time over the last five contests that he's been absent from the lineup, but the first two times he sat out came against lefties. Cruz is slashing just .186/.276/.314 across 74 games since the beginning of June. Jack Suwinski will handle center field for the Pirates on Monday.

  • Juan Morillo RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Juan Morillo: Rejoins big-league bullpen

The Diamondbacks recalled Morillo from Triple-A Reno on Monday.

Morillo has offered a mixed bag during his several stints in the majors, posting a 4.55 ERA and 32:20 K:BB over 31.2 innings. Even with his control and command issues, the hard-throwing Morillo has sometimes found himself in high-leverage situations as part of an unsettled Arizona bullpen.

  • Diamondbacks' Anthony DeSclafani: Booted off 40-man roster

The Diamondbacks designated DeSclafani for assignment Monday.

DeSclafani made two appearances after returning from a thumb injury, giving up five home runs and six runs in total over 5.2 innings. His spot on the active roster and in the bullpen is being absorbed by Juan Morillo.

  • Diamondbacks' Blaze Alexander: Back in lineup Monday

Alexander (elbow) is starting at third base and batting fifth against the Giants on Monday, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.

Alexander was struck on his left elbow by a pitch during the Diamondbacks' 6-4 win over the Rangers on Sunday. He was diagnosed with an elbow contusion, and the injury isn't severe enough to be held out of the starting lineup for Monday's series opener. Alexander has gone 7-for-27 (.259) with four RBI over his last seven games.
