  • Sal Frelick RF | MIL

Brewers' Sal Frelick: Getting breather against LHP

Frelick isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Tuesday's game versus Pittsburgh.

The lefty-hitting Frelick will retreat to the bench Tuesday as Josh Fleming prepares to toe the slab for the Pirates. Blake Perkins will fill the resulting vacancy in center field while batting fifth.

  • Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Resting against southpaw

Mitchell isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.

With left-hander Josh Fleming set to start the game on the mound for Pittsburgh, the lefty-hitting Mitchell will step out of the starting nine during Tuesday's series opener. Christian Yelich, Blake Perkins and Jackson Chourio will start across the outfield while Mitchell rests.

  • Braves' Ramon Laureano: Still out Tuesday

Laureano (oblique) is absent from the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Laureano continues to nurse a sore oblique, and despite not playing since June 26, he has not been placed on Atlanta's injured list. Adam Duvall will start in right field Tuesday and bat sixth against Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen.

  • Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Sitting Tuesday

Monasterio isn't in the Brewers' lineup Tuesday versus Pittsburgh.

Monasterio has struggled since taking over for Joey Ortiz (neck) as Milwaukee's primary third baseman, going just 2-for-15 at the plate in his last four games. He'll give way to Vinny Capra on Tuesday, who will bat ninth while manning the hot corner.

  • Joey Gallo LF | CHW

Nationals' Joey Gallo: Swinging, fielding grounders

Gallo (hamstring) participated in batting practice Tuesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Manager Dave Martinez noted that Gallo has also resumed fielding groundballs within the past week, though the 30-year-old still has yet to run the bases since beginning a running program June 24. Gallo will almost certainly need to embark on a rehab assignment before he can return to the Nationals, but he seems to still have some hurdles to clear before he can begin playing in minor-league games.

  • Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Making rehab start Saturday

Kershaw (shoulder) will make his next rehab start Saturday with Triple-A Oklahoma City, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Kershaw played in a rehab game June 19 at Single-A, but soreness in his shoulder forced him to pause his rehab assignment. He has since built back up to throwing two innings in a simulated game, and the goal will be to get him up to three frames in his return to minor-league action. He will likely require another two or three rehab starts beyond Saturday before returning to Los Angeles.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Scratched from lineup

India was a late scratch Tuesday versus the Rockies due to a left knee contusion.

India was set to start at second and bat leadoff Tuesday. The second baseman Is coming off of an impressive June in which he slashed .380/.454/.587, but due to the injury, Santiago Espinal will take his place at the keystone and bat eighth Tuesday. Spencer Steer will now bat leadoff.

  • Blake Snell SP | LAD

Giants' Blake Snell: Taken off IL, starting Tuesday

The Giants reinstated Snell (groin) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

Snell wrapped up his second IL stint of the season with a dominant rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, when he gave up just one walk while striking out nine over five shutout innings. Tuesday will mark Snell's first start since June 2 against the Yankees, and across his six major-league starts this season he has a 9.51 ERA and 1.94 WHIP across 23.2 innings. To make room on the 26-man roster for Snell, the Giants optioned left-hander Kolton Ingram to Sacramento.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Reinstated off IL, starting Tuesday

The Giants reinstated Estrada (wrist) from the 10-day injured list, and he will start at second base and bat seventh in Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Estrada had been playing through multiple injuries before being placed on the 10-day IL on June 28 with a left wrist sprain. He didn't end up needing a rehab assignment, and his return bolsters the San Francisco infield. Estrada is slashing .231/.264/.376 with nine home runs and 39 RBI over 311 plate appearances this season.
