  • Bryan Reynolds LF | PIT

Pirates' Bryan Reynolds: Opens scoring with homer

Reynolds went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 12-2 win over the Brewers.

Reynolds already has four homers and 10 RBI over eight games in July, continuing his surge that lasted nearly all of June. The outfielder is batting .331 since the start of June, with 10 long balls over 34 contests in that span. He's up to 17 homers, 56 RBI, 42 runs scored, five stolen bases and a .280/.344/.486 slash line through 91 games as the centerpiece of the Pirates' offense this season.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Swats homer, steals base Tuesday

Suwinski went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional RBI, one stolen base and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 12-2 win over the Brewers.

Suwinski contributed an RBI single during the Pirates' six-run sixth inning and added a solo shot in the eighth. The outfielder is 8-for-24 (.333) with three homers and six RBI over eight games in July, though he remains limited to a strong-side platoon role, sharing center field with Michael Taylor. Despite the recent heater, Suwinski is slashing just .186/.264/.339 through 247 plate appearances this year, adding nine homers, 26 RBI, 27 runs scored and six steals.

  • Joey Bart C | CHW

Pirates' Joey Bart: Lifts grand slam in rout

Bart went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Tuesday's 12-2 win over the Brewers.

Bart blew the game open in the sixth inning with his grand slam, and the Pirates never looked back. It was just his third hit over seven games since he returned from a month-long absence with a left thumb sprain. Bart is slashing .241/.330/.468 with five homers, 17 RBI, nine runs scored and three doubles across 91 plate appearances this season, and he's gaining playing time over Yasmani Grandal -- Tuesday was Bart's fourth straight start.

  • Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Solid outing in sixth win

Taillon (5-4) got the win Tuesday, allowing two runs on four hits over six innings against the Orioles. He struck out seven.

Taillon was sharp on Tuesday and has now picked up back-to-back wins for the first time since his first two starts of the season. What's even more impressive is the fact that pair of victories has come against tough opponents in the Phillies and Orioles, with quality starts on both occasions. The veteran now has a quality start in five of his last six outings overall, and his ERA is down to 2.99 over 87.1 innings. He's scheduled for one more start prior to the All-Star break, Sunday against the Cardinals.

  • Quinn Priester SP | MIL

Pirates' Quinn Priester: Earns win in return

Priester (1-5) allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out eight over six innings to earn the win over the Brewers on Tuesday.

Priester worked behind opener Josh Fleming and delivered an excellent outing in his first big-league appearance since June 2. Priester threw 95 pitches (60 strikes), so there should be no concerns about his workload moving forward. The right-hander had struggled before landing on the injured list with a right lat injury. He's now at a 4.30 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 28:12 K:BB through 37.2 innings across seven outings (six starts) this year. If he stays on a regular schedule, he's projected to start against the White Sox on Sunday, though it's possible the Pirates play it safe with him since he's just returned from an injury.

  • Jesus Sanchez DH | ARI

Marlins' Jesus Sanchez: Reaches 10-homer mark

Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Astros.

Sanchez has gone 8-for-24 (.333) with three homers and five RBI over his first seven games in July. The outfielder had all of three long balls in June, so it's unclear if he'll be able to sustain his recent uptick in power. For the season, he's at a .240/.291/.407 slash line, 10 homers, 34 RBI, 26 runs scored and six stolen bases over 279 plate appearances. Sanchez is in a strong-side platoon role, primarily starting in right field or at designated hitter while competing with Dane Myers and Josh Bell for at-bats.

  • Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Homer, steal in loss

Chisholm went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a stolen base and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Astros.

Chisholm has shown much more speed than power recently -- he has four steals over his last five games, and his homer Tuesday was his first since June 13. The 26-year-old is up to 11 long balls, 18 thefts, 41 RBI, 39 runs scored and a .258/.328/.417 slash line through 88 contests. Chisholm's rate stats are roughly in line with his career norms, but staying healthy has kept him on track to put up personal bests in most -- if not all -- of the counting-stat categories.

  • Trevor Rogers SP | BAL

Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Decent in no-decision

Rogers allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Tuesday.

Rogers put in a decent effort, but he exited the game with the Marlins down 2-1. They were able to erase that deficit but couldn't find the lead in the late innings. Rogers has gone six starts without allowing more than three runs, though he's walked multiple batters in four of those outings. The southpaw is at a 4.82 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 75:41 K:BB through 89.2 innings over 18 starts. Rogers remains in search of his second win of the year, and he's projected to make his next start on the road at hitter-friendly Cincinnati.

  • Brandon Marsh LF | PHI

Phillies' Brandon Marsh: Homer, stolen base in win

Marsh went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a stolen base and three total runs scored in Tuesday's 10-1 victory over the Dodgers.

After drawing a two-out walk in the second, Marsh swiped second base for his 11th steal of the year before scoring the game's first run on a Rafael Marchan single. Marsh would later provide the final blow in the seventh inning, launching a solo home run off Michael Petersen. The 26-year-old Marsh had been slumping a bit coming into Tuesday's contest, going 4-for-22 (.182) in his previous six games. He's now slashing .267/.350/.425 with eight homers, 33 RBI and 29 runs scored across 254 plate appearances this season.

  • Bobby Miller RP | LAD

Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Tagged for nine runs in loss

Miller (1-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Phillies, allowing nine runs on 10 hits and three walks across four innings. He struck out two.

Miller allowed three runs in the second inning before Philadelphia opened things up in the fourth, where it scored six more times on five hits, highlighted by a Trea Turner grand slam. The 25-year-old Miller has had a rough time since returning from the injured list in mid-June, allowing 19 runs over his last 17.1 innings. His ERA is up to an ugly 8.07 with a 1.83 WHIP and 27:18 K:BB across seven starts this season. Despite his struggles, Miller figures to stick in the rotation for now due to Tyler Glasnow (back) joining Yoshinobu Yamamoto (shoulder) and Walker Buehler (hip) on the IL. He's currently lined up for a road matchup this weekend in Detroit.
