Evan Phillips RP | LAD
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Facing batters
Phillips (elbow) is facing hitters Tuesday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Phillips had surgery on his elbow in early June 2025. Before the 2026 season began, the reliever was eyeing a return in July or August. Now facing live hitters, he appears on track for a return within that timetable.

Mark Vientos 1B | NYM
Mets' Mark Vientos: Receiving evening off
Vientos is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.
Vientos will hit the bench following a stretch of 22 consecutive starts, during which he produced a .227/.253/.420 slash line with four home runs, 15 RBI and nine runs. The Mets reinstated Jared Young (knee) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday and will insert him into the starting nine at first base in Vientos' stead.

Nate Lowe DH | CIN
Reds' Nathaniel Lowe: Taking seat against lefty
Lowe is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.
The Mets are sending a lefty (David Peterson) to the bump for the second game of the series, so the left-handed-hitting Lowe will retreat to the bench. Spencer Steer will cover first base in place of Lowe, who went 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and a run in the Reds' 8-2 win Monday in the series opener.

TJ Friedl CF | CIN
Reds' TJ Friedl: Losing out on playing time
Friedl is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.
Friedl will head to the bench for the fifth time in six games and looks to have faded into a reserve role while he's struggled to a .176/.255/.257 slash line and a career-worst 23.7 percent strikeout rate over 169 plate appearances. The Reds appear prepared to move forward with a tandem of Blake Dunn and Dane Myers in center field for the time being.

Owen Caissie RF | MIA
Marlins' Owen Caissie: Idle Tuesday
Caissie is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.
Caissie will take a seat for the first time since last Wednesday, bringing an end to a stretch of five consecutive starts during which he went 5-for-14 with one home run, two doubles, one walk and seven RBI. Heriberto Hernandez will take Caissie's spot in the outfield and will bat seventh.

Connor Norby 1B | MIA
Marlins' Connor Norby: Rejoining starting nine
Norby (elbow) will start at first base and bat fifth in Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.
Norby will rejoin the starting nine after he was held out of action in Monday's 8-2 win over Toronto due to the left elbow injury he sustained in Sunday's 4-0 victory over the Mets. The 25-year-old will enter Tuesday's contest having produced a .213/.324/.328 slash line with one home run, four stolen bases, nine runs and four RBI through 20 games in May.

Jhostynxon Garcia CF | PIT
Pirates' Jhostynxon Garcia: Shifting to bench Tuesday
Garcia is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs.
Garcia started in left field in Monday's 2-1 win in the series opener, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout. Since being called up from Triple-A Indianapolis last week, Garcia is slashing .250/.286/.250 over six games and may have to settle for a part-time role until he raises his production and earns steadier playing time.

Jared Koenig RP | MIL
Brewers' Jared Koenig: Almost ready for rehab assignment
Koenig (elbow) said his live bullpen session went well Tuesday and he expects to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Koenig hit the 15-day injured list April 6 with a left elbow sprain and was diagnosed as having UCL damage. The southpaw was able to resume throwing April 28 and returned to mound work May 12. Given where he is in his rehab process, the reliever's return looks likely to come in early-to-mid June.

Michael Conforto RF | CHC
Cubs' Michael Conforto: Sitting amid slump
Conforto is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.
After going 0-for-12 with five strikeouts while starting in the past four games, the slumping Conforto will head to the bench. Moises Ballesteros will receive the nod at designated hitter Tuesday in place of Conforto.

Nick Castellanos RF | SD
Padres' Nick Castellanos: Idle Tuesday
Castellanos is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Phillies.
Castellanos had started in six of the last seven games for the Padres since May 18. He recorded just two hits across 22 plate appearances in that span, with one of those hits being a home run. The Padres' outfield Tuesday is comprised of Gavin Sheets, Jackson Merrill and Ramon Laureano.
