  • Pirates' Jake Mangum: Swats first homer in win

Mangum went 3-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 10-9 win over the Twins. Mangum launched his first homer of the season in the second inning before giving the Pirates an 8-7 lead on an RBI single in the fifth. It was the 30-year-old's first three-hit effort since April 16, and he's now hit safely in five of his past six starts with five RBI during that stretch. For the year, he's slashing .267/.339/.317 with one home run, eight RBI, 16 runs scored and seven steals across 114 plate appearances.

  • Pirates' Jake Mangum: Sitting in third straight game

Mangum is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs. Upon returning from the injured list May 17, Mangum started in five of the Pirates' ensuing seven games, but he'll be relegated to the bench Wednesday for the third consecutive contest. Unless the Pirates are willing to pull the plug on the struggling Marcell Ozuna as their primary designated hitter, Mangum likely won't have a path to steady at-bats in the outfield while Bryan Reynolds and Oneil Cruz are available and while rookie Esmerlyn Valdez is getting prioritized ahead of him.

  • Pirates' Jake Mangum: Seeing steady starts since return

Mangum will start in center field and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays. Since returning from the injured list last Sunday, Mangum has drawn starts in five of the last seven games. The Pirates recently called up Jhostynxon Garcia and Esmerlyn Valdez from Triple-A Indianapolis to fortify their outfield while Ryan O'Hearn (quadriceps) is on the shelf, but Mangum could still have a path to at least a semi-regular role if Oneil Cruz continues to make more of his starts at designated hitter in place of the struggling Marcell Ozuna rather than in center field.

  • Pirates' Jake Mangum: Back from injured list

The Pirates reinstated Mangum (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Sunday. The 30-year-old landed on the shelf in early May due to a strained left hamstring, but he's rejoining the Pirates on Sunday after a brief stint on the shelf. Mangum has a .260/.333/.288 slash line with no homers, five steals, three RBI and 13 runs in his first 30 games of the season, and he could take over as Pittsburgh's primary right fielder with Ryan O'Hearn (quadriceps) going to the IL.

  • Pirates' Jake Mangum: Nursing hamstring issue

Mangum was scratched from Thursday's lineup against the Diamondbacks due to left hamstring discomfort, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Mangum was scratched just before first pitch, so he might have tweaked something pregame. The Pirates could have more on his status after the game.

  • Pirates' Jake Mangum: Late scratch from lineup

Mangum was a late scratch from the lineup for Thursday's game in Arizona, Jose Negron of DK Pittsburgh Sports reports. There's no word yet on the reason for Mangum being pulled from the lineup, but the Pirates should have an update shortly. Billy Cook took over in center field in Mangum's stead.

  • Pirates' Jake Mangum: Lade addition to Monday's lineup

Mangum is starting in center field and batting eighth against the Cardinals on Monday. Mangum was initially slated to open Monday's series opener on the bench, but he will get the start in center field instead after the Pirates scratched Oneil Cruz (undisclosed) from the lineup. Mangum is slashing .254/.313/.288 with three steals and two RBI over 65 plate appearances this season.

  • Pirates' Jake Mangum: Back on bench Monday

Mangum is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres. The switch-hitting Mangum has cracked the starting nine in five of the Pirates' first 10 games, with three of those starts coming against left-handed pitching. Mangum should remain a regular presence in the lineup versus southpaws moving forward, but his opportunities to play against righties will likely be more sporadic while all of Bryan Reynolds, Oneil Cruz, Ryan O'Hearn and Marcell Ozuna are available to cover the outfield and designated-hitter spots.

  • Rays' Jake Mangum: Closing season well

Mangum went 3-for-5 on Thursday against the Orioles. Mangum is closing the season well, recording multiple hits in three of his last seven games. He also tallied his third homer Wednesday, his first since July 2. Given Mangum's strong defense in the outfield and his passable performance at the plate, he should be in line to compete for playing time in 2026.

  • Rays' Jake Mangum: Three hits Saturday

Mangum went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI on Saturday against the Red Sox. Mangum delivered an RBI double in the fourth inning en route to his sixth multi-hit game across 16 starts in September. He's hit .373 for the month, while also chipping in six stolen bases. Mangum doesn't provide much production in terms of power, but he's been an excellent source of batting average and stolen bases across 403 plate appearances for the campaign.

  • Rays' Jake Mangum: Swipes 25th base

Mangum went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Monday's 2-1 extra-innings loss to the Blue Jays. The Tampa Bay outfielder nabbed second off Toronto reliever Jeff Hoffman in the ninth to become the third Rays player to reach the 25-steal mark this season (following Jose Caballero and Chandler Simpson). Since the All-Star break, Mangum has been a regular in the lineup, playing roughly 85 percent of the time (45 out of the team's 53 games) and hitting .273 (41-for-150) with 12 stolen bases, 13 runs scored and eight RBI. Overall, he is now slashing .295/.332/.363 with 36 runs scored and 36 RBI in 387 plate appearances.

  • Rays' Jake Mangum: Tallies 23rd stolen base

Mangum went 1-for-3 with a stolen base Saturday against the Guardians. Mangum was also caught attempting to steal home in the seventh inning. He has been aggressive on the basepaths for the last few weeks, as seven of his 23 stolen bases for the season have come in his last 16 starts. Mangum has also hit very well in that span, batting .393 with four RBI, five doubles and seven runs scored.

  • Rays' Jake Mangum: Swipes bag in three-hit game

Mangum went 3-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 10-2 win over the Mariners. Mangum has hit well lately, going 12-for-23 (.522) over his last six games. Despite the hot bat, he's still confined to a strong-side platoon role for the Rays, primarily sharing center field with Everson Pereira. Mangum is up to 21 steals on 25 attempts this season, and he's added a .291/.324/.364 slash line with two home runs, 34 RBI, 34 runs scored, 16 doubles and one triple through 344 plate appearances.

  • Rays' Jake Mangum: Sitting versus southpaw

Mangum is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Nationals. Mangum has now been out of the lineup each of the last three times the Rays have faced a left-handers (in this case, Mitchell Parker) and four of the last seven games overall. Everson Pereira will patrol center field for Tampa Bay.

  • Rays' Jake Mangum: Giving way to Pereira vs. lefty

Mangum is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Mangum is a switch hitter, but he's been far more effective against right-handed pitching (.769 OPS in 228 plate appearances) than lefties (.451 OPS in 100 plate appearances) this season. He'll cede the start in center field to Everson Pereira while the Cardinals send Matthew Liberatore to the hill.

  • Rays' Jake Mangum: Fills box score in win

Mangum went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 10-6 win over the Cardinals. The four-hit game was Mangum's third of the season, and it was just his second contest of the year with multiple extra-base hits. The speedy switch hitter is a strong source of steals -- he has 20 stolen bases over 311 at-bats -- but he's provided very little in the way of power in 2025. Mangum is hitting .283 with two home runs, 14 doubles, 34 RBI and 32 runs scored across 90 outings.

  • Rays' Jake Mangum: Posts steal in win

Mangum went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 7-6 win over the Giants. Mangum has been mediocre so far in August, going 8-for-36 (.222) with three steals and three RBI over his last 12 games. The outfielder continues to see steady playing time versus right-handed pitchers, though the switch hitter isn't being strictly platooned while working all over the outfield. He's now at a .278/.316/.347 slash line with two home runs, 31 RBI, 29 runs scored and 18 steals through 84 contests on the season.

  • Rays' Jake Mangum: Heading to bench

Mangum isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Athletics, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports. Mangum will get his second game off in three days as the club gives Chandler Simpson a chance to start in left field, while Everson Pereira draws his first big-league start of the 2025 campaign. Mangum is 5-for-19 with one double, two RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in his last six appearances.

  • Rays' Jake Mangum: Taking seat against lefty

Mangum is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Mangum will hit the bench against Angels southpaw Tyler Anderson after the outfielder had started in each of the Rays' previous three contests. The 29-year-old rookie is a switch hitter, but he's been far more effective against righties (117 wRC+, .338 wOBA) than lefties (27 wRC+, .208 wOBA) this season.

  • Rays' Jake Mangum: Ends RBI drought

Mangum went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored Tuesday against the Angels. Mangum remains a near-everyday player for the Rays but has struggled mightily since the All-Star break. He's gone just 8-for-51 with one double and three runs scored, with Tuesday marking his first RBI in his last 16 starts. Positively, Mangum has four stolen bases in that span, but his fantasy appeal is limited.
