  • Ryan Feltner SP | COL

Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Begins rehab assignment

Feltner (shoulder) allowed five runs (three earned) over 2.2 innings in his first rehab start with Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.

Feltner has missed most of August with a right shoulder strain but looks to be nearing a return. He got his pitch count up to just 49 in Wednesday's outing, so it's possible the Rockies will want him to make one more appearance before re-inserting the right-hander into their rotation.

  • Joey Gallo LF | CHW

Nationals' Joey Gallo: Drives in run in Wednesday's start

Gallo went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Rockies.

Getting his first start since coming off the IL on Monday, Gallo handled first base and batted eighth, and he drove in the Nationals' first run of the night in the second inning with a one-out double. Juan Yepez has a .194/.250/.258 slash line in August, which could open the door for Gallo to see semi-consistent playing time, but the 30-year-old is a free agent in the offseason and almost certainly won't be in the team's future plans.

  • Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Sharp in seventh win

Parker (7-7) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over seven innings during a 6-1 victory over the Rockies. He struck out six.

The 24-year-old southpaw took a shutout into the seventh inning before Colorado finally got on the board, and Parker left the mound after 83 pitches (61 strikes) having delivered his ninth quality start of the year, including three in four August outings. His fourth trip to the mound this month resulted in a nine-run disaster against the Phillies, however. Parker will take a 4.26 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 104:32 K:BB through 122.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Yankees.

  • Tanner Gordon SP | COL

    Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Remains winless

Gordon (0-5) took the loss Wednesday, coughing up five runs on eight hits and a walk over four innings as the Rockies were downed 6-1 to the Nationals. He struck out two.

The rookie right-hander fell apart in the third inning, giving up three singles before Luis Garcia launched a three-run blast to right-center field. Gordon has been tagged for at least four runs in five of his first seven MLB starts, and he seems likely to lose his rotation spot once Ryan Feltner (shoulder) is ready to return. If Gordon does get another turn, he'll carry a 7.55 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB through 31 innings into a home start early next week against the Marlins.

  • Spencer Steer 1B | CIN

Reds' Spencer Steer: Closing in on 20-20 club

Steer went 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 11-7 win over Toronto.

Steer swatted a two-run home run in the fourth inning, which propelled the Reds' comeback from an early 6-0 deficit. It was his 19th homer of the season to go along with 21 steals, leaving Steer just shy of his first 20-20 season.

  • Noelvi Marte RF | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Records multiple hits again

Marte went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 11-7 win over the Blue Jays.

Marte launched his fourth home run of the season as part of a three-run sixth inning that gave the Reds some breathing room. It was the second straight game in which he's recorded multiple hits, and the performance raised his batting average to .197, the highest it's been since his third game of the season June 29. It's not saying much, but Marte's .632 OPS in August has been his best month since he was reinstated from an 80-game suspension in June.

  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Joins exclusive club

De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with a walk, a home run, three RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 11-7 win over Toronto.

De La Cruz's fifth-inning steal was his 60th of the season, making him just the fifth player since 1900 to record at least 20 home runs and steal 60 bases in a season -- a club that Ronald Acuna (knee) joined last season and which also includes Hall of Famers Rickey Henderson and Joe Morgan, as well as former Reds star Eric Davis. De La Cruz later belted a solo home run in the eighth inning, his 22nd of the year. The 22-year-old was sitting at 59 steals for the previous 11 games, a stretch during which he went 6-for-42 with a .196 OBP.

  • Luis Guillorme 3B | HOU

Diamondbacks' Luis Guillorme: Debuts for new team

Guillorme started at second base and went 1-for-5 with a stolen base in Wednesday's 10-8 win over Miami.

Guillorme made his debut for the Diamondbacks, who signed him earlier in the week in the wake of starting second baseman Ketel Marte (ankle) landing on the injured list. He's expected to serve as the backup at the keystone while Marte is sidelined, but the lefty-swinging Guillorme provides a useful complement to primary fill-in Kevin Newman.

  • Jake McCarthy LF | COL

Diamondbacks' Jake McCarthy: Ties career HR mark

McCarthy went 1-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 10-8 win over the Marlins.

McCarthy erased an early Miami lead with a two-run homer in the third inning. It was the second time in three games that the outfielder has gone deep and tied his career-mark of eight in a season. With Alek Thomas (oblique) recently optioned to the minors, McCarthy should have a clear path to an everyday role.

  • David Hensley 1B | DET

Marlins' David Hensley: Collects three hits Wednesday

Hensley went 3-for-5 with two runs and a stolen base in a loss to Arizona on Wednesday.

Hensley came into the contest having gone just 2-for-14 since being called up to the majors July 30. He more than doubled his season hit total with the three knocks Wednesday, and he added his second big-league theft. Hensley was in the starting lineup for the first time in five games and has served primarily as a pinch hitter while with the Marlins.
