Carroll batted leadoff and went 0-for-4 in Friday's 8-1 win over the Cubs.

Carroll was moved to leadoff against a righty after batting second against lefty Justin Steele on Thursday. Carroll and Ketel Marte -- who batted leadoff Thursday -- are expected to serve at the top of the order for Arizona. Through two games, Carroll is 1-for-7 with a double, a walk and one strikeout.

Marte batted second and went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Friday's 8-1 win over the Cubs.

Marte, who logged a second straight two-hit game to start the season, was dropped from leadoff Thursday to second in the order, as he and Corbin Carroll switched places against right-hander Jameson Taillon. Marte is expected to lead off against lefties, as was the case Thursday, and he is 4-for-10 with two doubles and three runs scored to begin the new season.

Betts went 3-for-5 with two home runs, three runs scored and four RBI in Friday's 8-5 extra-inning win over the Tigers.

The illness that cost Betts the season-opening series in Tokyo and caused him to lose 18 pounds appears to no longer be an issue for the 32-year-old. Betts nearly won the game for the Dodgers in the eighth inning when he broke a 2-2 tie with a solo shot off Will Vest, but when that didn't stick he walked it off in the 10th with a three-run blast off Beau Brieske. Betts is 4-for-8 with a walk since returning to the lineup Thursday, and he has yet to strike out.

Scott was charged with a blown save in Friday's 8-5 extra-inning win over the Tigers, giving up a run on three hits in an inning of work.

Called in to protect a 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth inning, Scott gave up an RBI single to Manuel Margot with two outs to tie the score, and then nearly served up a game-winning double to Riley Greene, only for Margot to stumble coming around third and get thrown out at the plate on a play that required video review. Scott has been handed two of the Dodgers' first four save chances of the season, with Blake Treinen getting Thursday's opportunity after Alex Vesia closed out Game 2 of the Tokyo Series.

Yamamoto came away with a no-decision in Friday's 8-5 extra-inning win over the Tigers, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out 10.

After picking up a win back home in Japan during the Dodgers' season-opening set against the Cubs, Yamamoto was mostly sharp in his first stateside outing, tossing 58 of 91 pitches for strikes while fanning double-digit batters for the first time in his MLB career. The right-hander did serve up solo shots to Gleyber Torres (side) and Dillon Dingler to mar his performance, however. Yamamoto will take a 2.70 ERA and 14:3 K:BB through his first 10 innings of the season into his next start, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Philadelphia.

Suarez went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Friday's 8-1 win over the Cubs.

Both long balls came off Jameson Taillon, as Suarez belted a two-run homer to left-center field in the second inning and then did it again to almost the exact same spot in the fourth, with the total distance of the blasts coming in at 854 feet. Suarez has gone yard three times in Arizona's first two games, giving him an early jump on putting together his sixth career 30-homer campaign.

Kelly (1-0) recorded the win in Friday's 8-1 rout of the Cubs, allowing one run on three hits and four walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out one.

It was far from a dominant outing for the 36-year-old righty to kick off the season, but Kelly minimized the damage from his free passes and got more than enough offensive support. He left the mound after 85 pitches (51 strikes). Kelly will likely need to be sharper in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road next week against the Yankees.

Taillon (0-1) took the loss Friday, giving up six runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings as the Cubs fell 8-1 to the Diamondbacks. He struck out one without walking a batter.

Six of the nine hits off the right-hander went for extra bases, including a pair of homers by Eugenio Suarez. Taillon left the mound after 80 pitches (53 strikes), and his 2025 campaign is off to a much bumpier start than his 2024 season -- he allowed three earned runs total over his first four outings last year. Taillon will look to bounce back in his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week against the Athletics.

Tatis went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-3 win over Atlanta.

He led off the game by driving the first pitch he saw from Reynaldo Lopez over the fence in left-center field. Tatis is looking to bounce back from a somewhat disappointing 2024 campaign that saw him hit 21 homers and steal just 11 bags over 102 regular-season contests. If he can stay healthy, the 26-year-old has the talent to take a run at a 30-30 season.

Suarez struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his second save of the season in a 4-3 win over Atlanta.

The 34-year-old right-hander has wiped the slate clean after a bumpy spring training, picking up saves in each of the Padres' first two games without allowing a run or a hit. Suarez finished fourth in the majors last season with 36 saves in a breakout campaign, and he appears to be on track to be among the league leaders again in 2025.
