Fortes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Fortes will get a breather as the Marlins close out their series versus the Mets with a late-afternoon game. Liam Hicks will check in for Fortes behind the plate and bat seventh.

Tarnok (ankle) struck out two batters and gave up one unearned run on one hit and no walks over three innings Sunday for Triple-A Jacksonville in its 2-1 extra-inning win over Nashville.

Tarnok attended big-league camp with the Marlins as a non-roster invitee, but he saw his longshot bid for the Opening Day roster come to an end after spraining his left ankle early in camp. The right-hander had sufficient time to heal up from the injury and kept ramped up ahead of the minor-league season, allowing him to claim a spot in the Jacksonville rotation.

Marsh is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

He was in the lineup the first two times the Phillies went up against a lefty this season, but the left-handed-hitting Marsh will take a seat Wednesday versus southpaw Kyle Freeland. Johan Rojas will cover center field and bat ninth for Philadelphia.

Stott is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Rockies.

The left-handed-hitting Stott was in the lineup both of the first two times the Phillies faced a lefty this season, but he'll take a seat Wednesday versus southpaw Kyle Freeland. Edmundo Sosa will start at second base and bat eighth.

Turner (back) will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game versus the Rockies.

Turner will make his first start since Opening Day, as he's been battling lower-back spasms. He appeared as a pinch hitter in Monday's 6-1 win and is back in the lineup for the second game of the series Wednesday.

Heyward is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Heyward had started in each of the Padres' first four matchups versus right-handed pitching, but he'll take a seat Wednesday even while the Guardians sent righty Ben Lively to the hill. The veteran outfielder has gone 2-for-14 at the dish so far this season, and his ongoing struggles could begin to cost him some playing time.

The Mets signed Goodrum to a minor-league contract Wednesday.

Goodrum was with the Padres in spring training but was released after failing to crack their Opening Day roster. The 33-year-old will provide the Mets with some veteran utility depth at Triple-A Syracuse.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that Montas (lat) has begun a throwing program, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Montas was cleared to play catch from 60 feet as he begins a throwing progression. He was shut down after being diagnosed with a high-grade right lat strain in mid-February, and it's going to be a lengthy build-up process for the hurler.

Diaz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Diaz will get some rest for the day game after he went 0-for-7 while starting behind the dish in the first two contests of the series. Martin Maldonado will handle the catching duties for San Diego on Wednesday.

Adames will start at shortstop and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Astros, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

After inking a $182 million deal in free agency this winter, Adames has quickly found a home in the No. 2 spot in the lineup, batting out of that spot in the order in each of the Giants' first six games. Though the Giants head into Wednesday's contest with a 4-1 record, Adames hasn't played a big role in the team's early success thus far; he's slashing just .158/.190/.211 with three RBI and one run.
