  • Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Cracks solo homer Tuesday

Sanchez went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a double during Tuesday's 3-2 win over Philadelphia. The Blue Jays were kept off the board through the first five innings, but Sanchez changed that with a solo blast off Zack Wheeler in the sixth to tie the game at 1-1. Sanchez tied a season high with three knocks, and Tuesday marked his 12th multi-hit game of the season. Three of those multi-hit games have come over his last five outings, a span in which he has gone 8-for-17 with three extra-base hits and three runs scored.

  • Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Good to go Wednesday

Sanchez (wrist) is batting cleanup as the designated hitter Wednesday against Atlanta. After sitting out Tuesday's series opener due a bruised wrist caused by a stray ball thrown from the stands Sunday, Sanchez will rejoin the lineup Wednesday in a non-defensive capacity. The veteran outfielder has been a key lineup piece for Toronto so far in 2026 with six home runs, 28 RBI, 19 runs and a .286/.322/.458 slash line in 58 games.

  • Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Absent from Tuesday's lineup

Sanchez (wrist) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta. Sanchez is dealing with a wrist contusion that he suffered when he was hit by a ball thrown from the stands during Sunday's loss to the Orioles. The 28-year-old underwent X-rays that came back negative, but he'll still be held out of the starting nine for at least one game.

  • Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Struck by stray ball

Sanchez was removed from Sunday's game against the Orioles after being struck in the wrist by a ball that appeared to be thrown by a fan in the stands, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Sanchez appeared to be talking with someone in the right field seats during a sixth-inning mound visit and was subsequently struck by a ball in the area of his wrist, forcing him to leave the game. The specifics of the injury aren't yet clear. Sanchez was replaced in right field by Yohendrick Pinango.

  • Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Belts grand slam off Alcantara

Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a double and a grand slam during the Blue Jays' 8-1 win over the Marlins on Tuesday. Sanchez smacked his 10th double of the season in the third inning, but he made his biggest play of the night in the sixth, when he smacked a grand slam off Sandy Alcantara to cap off the Blue Jays' six-run frame. Sanchez was moved up to the third spot in the lineup Tuesday, and his recent play at the plate could have him stay there, even when Vladimir Guerrero (elbow) returns to action. Over his last 16 games, Sanchez has a 1.131 OPS with eight extra-base hits (including two homers) and 12 RBI in 49 plate appearances.

  • Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Not in Thursday's lineup

Sanchez (chest) is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees. Sanchez was lifted from Wednesday's contest after getting the wind knocked out of him. The left-handed hitter likely wasn't going to start Thursday, anyway, with the Yankees sending southpaw Carlos Rodon to the bump, but it's unclear whether he'll be available off the bench. Myles Straw will cover right field for Toronto in Sanchez's stead.

  • Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Idle against lefty

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees. After making four consecutive starts, the left-handed-hitting Sanchez will hit the bench while southpaw Ryan Weathers takes the hill for New York. Myles Straw will step in for Sanchez in right field and will bat seventh.

  • Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Taking seat against southpaw

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays. With southpaw Shane McClanahan on the bump for the Rays in the series finale, the Blue Jays will counter with a more right-handed-heavy lineup. Sanchez and fellow left-handed batters Andres Gimenez and Daulton Varsho will head to the bench, opening up spots for righties Lenyn Sosa, Myles Straw and Davis Schneider.

  • Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Three hits in Sunday's win

Sanchez went 3-for-5 in Sunday's win over the Twins. All three hits were singles and none of them led directly to any run production, but it was still Sanchez's first multi-hit performance since April 14. The 28-year-old outfielder has delivered his usual numbers through his first 33 games as a Blue Jay, slashing .250/.289/.404 with four homers, a steal, 11 runs and 15 RBI, but there are signs he could find another level over the summer -- his 93.2 mph average exit velocity and 11.3 degree launch angle are both career bests, as is his 17.5 percent strikeout rate.

  • Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Sitting again Monday

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers. The left-handed hitter finds himself on the bench for a third straight game, this time against a southpaw (Justin Wrobleski) after his prior two absences came versus right-handed pitchers. The Blue Jays have leaned on a three-man committee in left field, with Sanchez and Davis Schneider leading the group with four starts apiece and Nathan Lukes making two starts.

  • Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Belts first homer as Jay

Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the A's. The 28-year-old outfielder crushed a Luis Morales fastball to straightaway center field in the third inning, giving Sanchez his first long ball in a Toronto uniform. Sanchez has rotated starts with Nathan Lukes and Davis Schneider through the first three games of the season, but the former Marlin could end up as the preferred option against right-handed pitching, especially if the Blue Jays coaching staff can unlock more power from his bat. Sanchez has hit between 13 and 18 homers in each of the last five seasons, but his elite bat speed has teased more upside in that department.

  • Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Not in lineup Friday

Sanchez isn't part of the Blue Jays' starting nine for Friday's game against the Athletics. Sanchez, after being acquired via trade in Feburary, had been in contention for the starting left field role, but the Blue Jays will opt for a different left-handed-hitting outfielder to fill the spot Friday in Nathan Lukes. Sanchez slashed just .199/.269/.342 in 48 games after being sent to the Astros midway through the 2025 campaign, and he may have some work to do in order to etch out consistent playing time with the Blue Jays.

  • Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Belts first spring homer

Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and four RBI in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays. The 28-year-old outfielder got hold of a Nick Martinez cutter in the first inning for a two-run homer, one of three Toronto long balls off the right-hander. It was Sanchez's first home run of the spring, and he's been heating up with Opening Day approaching, going 5-for-13 over his last three Grapefruit League games. Sanchez has never been able to fully capitalize on some impressive metrics during his MLB career, including 93rd percentile bat speed in 2025 and a 95th percentile hard-hit rate in 2024, but the Blue Jays have a track record of helping big swingers unlock another level of production.

  • Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Shipped to Toronto

The Blue Jays acquired Sanchez from the Astros on Friday in exchange for Joey Loperfido. Sanchez slashed just .199/.269/.342 in 48 games for Houston down the stretch and the club wasn't anxious to give him another opportunity, so it swapped him for another outfielder. In Toronto, Sanchez figures to have a leg up on Nathan Lukes and Davis Schneider for playing time in left field.

  • Astros' Jesus Sanchez: Reaches deal with Houston

Sanchez agreed to a one-year, $6.8 million contract with the Astros on Thursday, avoiding arbitration, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. The 28-year-old outfielder is entering his penultimate year of arbitration eligibility after being traded from Miami to Houston at last summer's deadline. Sanchez posted a .740 OPS for the Marlins in 2025 but scuffled to a .611 OPS after being dealt to the Astros.

  • Astros' Jesus Sanchez: Pops homer in win

Sanchez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Angels. Sanchez entered Saturday 18 games removed from his last long ball, a stretch in which he went a paltry 3-for-46 (.065) at the plate. The outfielder has filled a part-time role during his stint with the Astros, hitting just .191 since he was acquired from the Marlins. Overall, he's at a .235/.303/.395 slash line with 14 homers, 48 RBI, 61 runs scored, 12 stolen bases, 21 doubles and four triples across 133 games.

  • Astros' Jesus Sanchez: Idle Friday

Sanchez isn't in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Angels, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Sanchez will take a day to reset Friday after going just 1-for-18 across his last seven contests. Mauricio Dubon will fill in as the Astros' left fielder and bat ninth.

  • Astros' Jesus Sanchez: Sitting after five straight starts

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta. With left-hander Joey Wentz on the hill for Atlanta, the left-handed-hitting Sanchez will take a seat after he went 0-for-15 with four walks, three stolen bases, one RBI and three runs while starting in each of the Astros' last five games. He'll give way to Cam Smith in right field.

  • Astros' Jesus Sanchez: Belts homer in loss

Sanchez went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Yankees. Sanchez went yard in the seventh inning as a pinch hitter, and he stayed in the game in right field, replacing Cam Smith. Sanchez has gone 14-for-31 (.452) over his last 10 games, adding three homers, three doubles and six RBI in that span, as he continues to fill a strong-side platoon role in the corner outfield. The 27-year-old is slashing .255/.319/.424 with 13 homers, 43 RBI, 53 runs scored, 20 doubles, four triples and nine stolen bases over 114 games between the Astros and the Marlins this season.

  • Astros' Jesus Sanchez: Taking seat Monday

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels. The left-handed-hitting Sanchez had started in each of the Astros' last three games, including once against a lefty (Tyler Anderson), but he'll bow out of the starting nine while southpaw Yusei Kikuchi takes the hill for the Angels. Cam Smith will cover right field in place of Sanchez.
