Atlanta transferred Lopez (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Lopez is scheduled for arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder, and a best-case scenario would see the right-hander return within a few months of the procedure. Until then, he'll concede his 40-man roster spot to Jason Delay, who was acquired by Atlanta on Thursday in a trade with the Pirates.

Atlanta acquired Delay from the Pirates on Thursday in exchange for cash and optioned him to Double-A Columbus.

Delay was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Tuesday, but a move to Atlanta will allow him to reclaim a spot on a 40-man roster. However, he'll be demoted to Double-A upon joining his new organization and doesn't figure to serve as anything more than minor-league depth for the duration of the season. Reynaldo Lopez (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.

The Pirates added Canario to their 26-man roster Thursday.

The Mets traded Canario to the Pirates for cash considerations Monday, but he had yet to be officially added to the roster. To make room on the roster, the Pirates optioned Ji Hwan Bae to Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday.

Manager Rob Thomson said Wednesday that Painter is scheduled to throw live batting practice Friday, Destiny Lugardo of Phillies Nation reports.

If all goes well there, the next steps in Painter's throwing progression should become much clearer, with Thomson saying that "Friday will determine a lot of things." Philadelphia has slow-played Painter's recovery from 2023 Tommy John surgery, and the right-hander's next steps figure to entail a rather lengthy rehab stint in the minor leagues. The 2021 first-round pick represents Philadelphia's top prospect, and he remains on track to get his first taste of major-league action sometime around midseason in 2025. The Phillies have a loaded rotation and are still likely to continue handling things cautiously with Painter, who hasn't yet pitched at the Triple-A level in his career.

Walker (1-0) earned the win Thursday against the Rockies, allowing three hits and a walk over six shutout innings. He struck out four.

It was an excellent start to the year for Walker, who needed just 74 pitches to finish six innings. The veteran right-hander struggled to a 7.10 ERA in 83.2 innings last season, though he won the final spot in Philadelphia's opening-day rotation after Ranger Suarez (back) landed on the injured list. Walker certainly earned another turn after Thursday's outing -- he's currently lined up for a road matchup in Atlanta next week.

Suarez (back) could face live hitters in his next scheduled throwing session before the end of the week, MLB.com reports.

Suarez continues to progress in his recovery from lower-back stiffness, and he'll likely need to go on at least a brief minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining Philadelphia's roster. That could be the next step in his throwing progression, barring any setbacks in this weekend's slated session, and the left-hander remains on track to return to the major leagues before the end of April. Taijuan Walker is occupying a spot in the Phillies' rotation in Suarez's stead, and he threw six scoreless innings with four strikeouts while earning the win in Thursday's start against the Rockies.

Dunn is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Reds.

The Brewers are facing a lefty in Nick Lodolo, which is the fifth time in seven games that they've gone up against a southpaw. Dunn has begun all of those tilts on the bench and will again yield third base to Vinny Capra on Thursday.

Mitchell is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds.

It's southpaw Nick Lodolo on the bump for the Reds, so the left-handed hitting Mitchell will grab a seat. The Brewers are going with an outfield of Isaac Collins, Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio in the series opener.

Rodriguez was spotted in the Brewers' clubhouse prior to Thursday's game against the Reds and could be recalled from Triple-A Nashville, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The team has made no official transaction with Rodriguez. However, it doesn't have a probable pitcher listed for Friday's game versus the Reds and Rodriguez would be a candidate to either start that game or be available in long relief. Rodriguez yielded one unearned run with a 7:1 K:BB over five innings in his first start of the season with Nashville and would be on six days' rest Friday.

Fraley is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers.

The lefty-hitting Fraley will grab a seat on the bench to begin Thursday's contest while the lefty-throwing Nestor Cortes toes the slab for Milwaukee. Blake Dunn will pick up a start in right field as a result and bat sixth.
