Lux isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against Milwaukee.

The Reds will keep Lux and his career .554 OPS against left-handers on the bench Thursday with southpaw Nestor Cortes set to start on the mound for the Brewers. Santiago Espinal will get the nod in left field instead and bat eighth.

High-A Greensboro placed Reed on the 60-day injured list with a back injury, Jonathan Mayo of MLB Pipeline reports.

Reed should resume throwing in a couple weeks but won't be eligible to play in official games until June. Last season, Reed had a 1.99 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 130:51 K:BB in 108.2 innings split between Single-A and High-A. Once healthy, the 22-year-old righty could quickly earn a promotion to Double-A.

Single-A Bradenton placed Blanco on the 60-day injured list with a leg injury, Jonathan Mayo of MLB Pipeline reports.

We didn't get any clarity beyond the fact it's a leg injury and Blanco won't return until June at the earliest. He's got as much raw power as any prospect in the minors but can be susceptible to breaking balls. The 6-foot-7 Blanco hit .305/.385/.505 with four home runs and a 28.4 percent strikeout rate in 30 games in the Florida Complex League last year.

Wichrowski is stretching out in extended spring training and will join an affiliate when he's ready and there's room in a rotation, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

He was throwing in spring games, so it's possible Wichrowski suffered some sort of ailment between then and when the Brewers announced their minor-league rosters, but for now he's not considered injured. Wichrowski threw 89 innings last season, so he shouldn't have notable workload restrictions this year in the minors. He could be assigned to Double-A or Triple-A after logging a 4.12 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 74.1 innings last year at Double-A.

Pena will begin the season with Single-A Carolina, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports.

It was fully anticipated that Jesus Made would skip over the Arizona Complex League and start the year at Single-A, and it's notable that the Brewers also opted to send Pena directly to the Mudcats. Pena, an 18-year-old shortstop with plus-plus speed, hit .393 with one home run and 39 steals in 44 games in the Dominican Summer League. If he can access a bit more pop, he could be a big riser this season on prospect rankings.

Quero suffered a hamstring injury late in spring training and should be assigned to Triple-A Nashville in late-April, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports.

He is also still building back up from last year's right shoulder surgery, as he was starting spring games at designated hitter. It may take Quero some time to knock the rust off at the dish, but his defense behind the plate is already big-league ready. The 22-year-old backstop slashed .262/.339/.440 with 16 home runs, five steals and a 17.8 percent strikeout rate in 90 games at Double-A in 2023 and only played one game last year at Triple-A.

The Padres transferred Brito (forearm) to the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Brito was shut down from throwing during spring training after experiencing diminished velocity, and he's been on the IL since the start of the season due to a forearm strain. His move to the 60-day IL guarantees he'll be out until at least late May, but there's also a possibility he undergoes surgery to address the issue and misses more time. His roster spot will be given to Oscar Gonzalez, who was selected to the 40-man roster Thursday but will remain in Triple-A for now.

Birdsong threw two scoreless innings during Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Astros, allowing two hits with two strikeouts and a walk.

Birdsong made his first appearance of 2025 and was the last member of the Opening Day roster to play this season. The right-handed reliever started the sixth frame and later got out of a two-out jam. He walked the first batter of the seventh inning before retiring the Astros' next three hitters, finishing with 26 pitches across two innings. Birdsong was neck-and-neck with Landen Roupp for the fifth-starter role in spring training before being moved to the bullpen. However, the Giants' early success has made it more difficult to utilize the 23-year-old Birdsong, who made 16 starts last season, registering a 4.75 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 88:43 K:BB over 72 innings.

Caminiti is in extended spring training rehabbing from forearm tendinitis, Harrison Smajovits of SI.com reports.

An MRI did not reveal structural damage for the talented young southpaw, but it's still a forearm issue worth monitoring over the coming weeks. Unlike most of the prep pitchers selected in last year's draft, Caminiti made an appearance in full-season ball after signing. He struck out four over three innings for Single-A Augusta, and that's likely where he'll be assigned once cleared.

Brazoban struck out one in a scoreless two-thirds of an inning to record his first save of the season in Wednesday's extra-innings win over the Marlins.

The right-hander got the final two outs of the 11th inning on only seven pitches (five strikes) to collect the first save of his career. Mets closer Edwin Diaz has worked earlier in the game, as had top setup men A.J. Minter and Ryne Stanek, so Brazoban's usage doesn't suggest he's now a key high-leverage arm for New York. The 35-year-old has pitched well to begin the season, however -- through three appearances and five innings, Brazoban has a 0.00 ERA and 5:1 K:BB.
