    Cardinals' Roddery Munoz: Recalled from Triple-A

    The Cardinals recalled Munoz from Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

    Munoz made three appearances with St. Louis earlier this season, allowing three runs with a 4:1 K:BB over 2.2 innings. The right-hander will give manager Oliver Marmol a fresh bullpen arm.

    Cardinals' Chris Roycroft: Back with big club

    The Cardinals recalled Roycroft from Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

    Roycroft was sent down last month after allowing seven runs (five earned) on six hits and six walks over 5.2 innings. He seemed to get back on track at Memphis, permitting two runs with a 6:2 K:BB across six frames.

    Cardinals' Riley O'Brien: Optioned to Triple-A

    The Cardinals optioned O'Brien to Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

    He's being replaced by a fresh relief arm after throwing 34 pitches over 1.2 frames Thursday versus the Reds. O'Brien will get another opportunity later this season.

    Cardinals' Matt Svanson: Heads back to Triple-A

    The Cardinals optioned Svanson to Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

    Svanson wasn't going to be available for a day or two after throwing two innings and 44 pitches in a relief appearance Thursday in Cincinnati, so he's being replaced with a fresh bullpen arm. Roddery Munoz and Chris Roycroft have been added to the St. Louis relief corps.

  • Padres' Tirso Ornelas: Sent back to Triple-A

    The Padres optioned Ornelas to Triple-A El Paso on Friday.

    The 25-year-old was called up by San Diego on April 19 and will return to El Paso after going 1-for-14 with two walks and two strikeouts in his first seven big-league games. Ornelas, who is one of the Padres' top prospects, could get another look in the majors later this year, but for now he'll head back to Triple-A, where he has a .281/.418/.359 slash line through 79 plate appearances this year.

  • Padres' Brandon Lockridge: Back from injured list

    The Padres activated Lockridge (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Friday..

    He's been out since mid-April with a left hamstring strain and will skip a rehab assignment and go right back on the active roster. Lockridge was the primary fill-in in center field for Jackson Merrill (hamstring) when he got hurt, but with Tyler Wade playing well lately, Lockridge could be limited to starts against lefties.

    Pirates' Liover Peguero: Recalled from Triple-A

    The Pirates recalled Peguero from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

    Peguero, 24, has slashed .258/.309/.382 with one home run and three stolen bases this season with Indianapolis. He'll likely operate in a utility infielder role for Pittsburgh.

  • Pirates' Hunter Stratton: Sent down to minors

    The Pirates optioned Stratton to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

    Stratton had been called up earlier this week and made two appearances, allowing a total of four runs over 1.2 innings. Utility player Liover Peguero is taking his spot on the roster.

    Reds' Jake Fraley: On bench again vs. lefty

    Fraley is out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Nationals.

    It's the third straight game on the bench for Fraley since the Reds have faced a trio of left-handed starting pitchers. Blake Dunn will take over in right field against Washington lefty Mitchell Parker.

    Reds' Gavin Lux: Sitting versus lefty

    Lux is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Nationals.

    Lux started the previous six games, including the last two against lefties, but he'll take a seat Friday while in the midst of an 0-for-10 slump. Santiago Espinal will enter the lineup in left field versus Washington southpaw Mitchell Parker.
