  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Scratched Sunday

Crews was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres for unspecified reasons. The Nationals haven't officially announced an injury, but Crews is presumably banged up after being hit by a pitch in the hand/wrist area during Saturday's contest. He should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Hits first homer in win

Crews went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 2-0 win over Atlanta. Crews launched what proved to be the game-winning homer off Grant Holmes in the top of the fourth inning. While it's amounted to just a .200 average through 21 plate appearances, he's hit safely in four of five games since rejoining the Nationals on Tuesday. The former top prospect will need to do more to matter in most fantasy formats, but he has flashed his power-speed upside with a steal Friday and Saturday's long ball.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Swipes first bag

Crews went 1-for-5 with a stolen base in Friday's loss to Atlanta. The steal was the first in four games for Crews since he was called up to make his season debut with the Nationals. The 24-year-old hasn't made much of an impact otherwise, however, batting .188 (3-for-16) with zero extra-base hits, zero RBI and one run. Washington will give the second overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft plenty of chances to establish himself as an MLB regular, and Crews did bring some momentum with him to the majors after slashing .291/.339/.527 over 59 May plate appearances for Triple-A Rochester.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Officially called up Tuesday

The Nationals recalled Crews from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday. The 24-year-old's promotion was reported Monday, and he's now officially been added to the major-league roster. Crews struggled to a .632 OPS in 85 games last season and opened 2026 in the minors, but he's been hitting well at Rochester this year with five homers, seven steals and a .258/.345/.432 slash line in 177 plate appearances. He is starting in center field and batting sixth in Tuesday's contest versus the Mets.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Getting call to big leagues

Crews is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Rochester ahead of Tuesday's game against the Mets, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports. Crews is slashing .258/.345/.432 with five homers, 20 RBI, seven stolen bases and 30 runs scored over 41 games so far this season at Triple-A, and the Nationals have evidently liked what they've seen out of the 24-year-old. Zuckerman notes that the plan to promote Crews was already in action before Monday's game, though Jacob Young (ribs) was hit by a pitch in the second inning and exited the game, which could result in a clearer path to playing time for Crews if Young is forced to the injured list. Expect the team to make Crews' promotion official Tuesday.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Sent to Triple-A

The Nationals assigned Crews to Triple-A Rochester on Friday. This is a disappointing outcome for fantasy managers who had taken a late-round swing on the talented 24-year-old or have shares of him in a dynasty league. Crews slashed .103/.206/.103 with 11 strikeouts and four walks during spring training. The move leaves Daylen Lile, Joey Wiemer and Christian Franklin as the Nationals' remaining right field options.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Rejoins spring lineup

Crews (thumb) will start in center field and bat sixth in Wednesday's exhibition versus Team Venezuela. Crews injured his left thumb during live batting practice Saturday, but after three days off to let the bruised digit heal, he's made enough progress to rejoin the Nationals' spring lineup. Through his first four Grapefruit League games, the 24-year-old has gone 1-for-9 with a 1:3 BB:K, two runs and one RBI.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Scratched with sore thumb

The Nationals scratched Crews from the lineup for Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins due to left thumb soreness. Christian Franklin was added to the starting nine as a replacement for Crews in right field and as the Nationals' No. 3 batter. Assuming that he isn't dealing with a fracture or ligament damage to his thumb, Crews will likely check back into the lineup within the next few days. The 24-year-old outfielder has gone 1-for-9 with one walk, two runs and one RBI through his first four Grapefruit League contests.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Getting breather

Crews is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox. Crews made 11 consecutive starts in right field, but he'll yield to Daylen Lile on Saturday. Crews went 10-for-41 (.244) with a homer, three stolen bases and a 4:4 BB:K during the start streak.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Pilfers 17th bag

Crews went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Mets. The 23-year-old outfielder extended a modest hitting streak to six games as he attempts to close a tough second season in the majors on a high note. Crews sports a .258/.313/.403 slash line through 19 games in September, a step up from his .215/.287/.356 line on the year, and during the final month he's supplied two of his nine homers and three of his 17 steals.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Homers, plates four in win

Crews went 3-for-5 with a homer, four RBI and an additional run scored in Monday's 15-7 victory at Miami. The Washington outfielder tied a career high in RBI in this contest, equaling a mark previously set April 19 at Colorado. Crews also collected his eighth long ball of the season -- his first since returning from an oblique injury Aug. 14 -- with a 409-foot, three-run shot off Marlins reliever Josh Simpson in the fifth. Through 255 total plate appearances, the 23-year-old is now slashing .208/.282/.355 with 14 steals, 36 runs scored and 23 RBI.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Exiting starting nine Monday

Crews is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins. Since being reinstated from the 60-day injured list Aug. 14, Crews had started in each of the Nationals' ensuing 16 games and slashed .218/.317/.309 with no home runs and three stolen bases. Crews had mustered just four hits in 24 at-bats over his last seven starts, so he'll get a chance to clear his head in the series opener with Miami. With Crews on the bench, Daylen Lile will pick up a start in right field.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Swipes bag in return

Crews went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Phillies. Activated from the IL earlier in the day, Crews wasted little time proving he is fully recovered from an oblique strain, singling in the first inning and swiping second base. The 23-year-old got the start in right field and batted second in his first big-league action since May 20, and he'll likely get a long look in a prominent spot in the lineup against right-handed pitching down the stretch. Crews is slashing just .199/.271/.354 through 46 contests on the season, but he's flashed his fantasy potential with seven homers and 12 stolen bases.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Could return for homestand

Crews (oblique) will remain on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester through Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. The 23-year-old outfielder played full nine-inning games Saturday and Sunday with Rochester, but with the Nationals not in the playoff picture, they have little incentive to rush Crews back from the oblique strain that has kept him on the injured list since May 21. Through 11 games during his rehab assignment, Crews is batting .278 with two home runs and a 1:6 BB:K. Washington could be waiting until it wraps up its current road trip before bringing him back from the IL for its home series against the Phillies that begins Thursday.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: No timeline for rehab stint

Crews (oblique) continues to work out with the Nationals and take simulated at-bats in a batting cage, but the team is holding off on sending him on a rehab assignment for now, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports. The young outfielder has been out since May 20 due to an oblique strain, and with Washington well out of playoff contention, there's no rush to get Crews back in the lineup. Given the length of his layoff, he may need more than a few days on a rehab stint, but a return from the 60-day injured list in early August remains plausible.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Nearing rehab stint

Nationals interim manager Miguel Cairo said Friday that Crews (oblique) is close to starting a rehab assignment, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. The 23-year-old outfielder has been sidelined nearly two months due to an oblique strain, but he's recently been ramping up his baseball activities and is closing in on his return to game action. Crews will likely need at least a handful of games in the minors before being reinstated, and he appears to be tracking toward being activated from the IL in early August.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Traveling with team

Crews (oblique) is accompanying the Nationals on a West Coast road trip which runs through June 29, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. While being allowed to travel with the team is encouraging, the 23-year-old outfielder doesn't appear to be close to coming off the IL as he recovers from an oblique strain. Crews is still limited to running on a treadmill at about 85-90 percent intensity, and he isn't yet taking full swings with a bat or doing on-field work. "I know he's itching to hit some balls, but we've got to really be careful right now, be cautious," manager Dave Martinez said Monday. "He's on a really good path right now. Everything looks good. We don't want to rush him. We want to make sure that when he comes out of this, he's 100 percent." Crews has been sidelined since May 20, and a firm target date for his return won't come into focus until he's ready to begin a rehab assignment.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Lands on IL with oblique strain

The Nationals placed Crews on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left oblique strain. Crews suffered the injury on a check swing during Tuesday's game against Atlanta. The severity of the strain has not been revealed, so it's difficult to say at this juncture how much time Crews might miss. Robert Hassell was called up from Triple-A Rochester to take Crews' spot on the roster and could get a long look in the Nationals outfield, especially with Jacob Young (shoulder) also banged up. Alex Call should also see an uptick in playing time.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Homers in win

Crews went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 10-4 win over the Orioles. Crews smacked a three-run homer in the second inning and added a single in the fourth. While the 23-year-old has provided two home runs and five steals in May, he's gone just 8-for-53 with 17 strikeouts. He's slashing .191/.257/.331 with six long balls, 14 RBI, 23 runs scored and 11 steals across 171 plate appearances this season, and the Nationals appear content to let him work through his growing pains at the plate.

  • Nationals' Dylan Crews: Day off Thursday

Crews is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Atlanta. It's the first day off in more than a month for Crews, who has just a .412 OPS over his last 16 games. Alex Call is in right field and batting seventh in the series finale.
