  • Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Makes second rehab start

Tovar (hip) played nine innings at shortstop and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in his rehab appearance Sunday with Triple-A Albuquerque.

Tovar began his rehab assignment at Triple-A on Saturday and ended up making starts at shortstop on consecutive days to close out the weekend. Per MLB.com, Tovar is scheduled to be re-evaluated again Wednesday, at which point the Rockies will likely determine whether he'll be available to return from the 10-day injured list for the team's series in Arizona over the weekend. Tovar was slashing .212/.257/.303 with no home runs and two stolen bases over 70 plate appearances before landing on the IL on April 19 due to a left hip contusion.

  • Erik Miller RP | BOS

Giants' Erik Miller: Blows save Sunday

Miller was charged with a blown save in Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Twins, allowing two earned runs on three hits and one walk without retiring a batter.

Miller entered the game in the sixth inning with a 4-3 lead and was tagged with his second blown save of the season after a lackluster performance. The left-hander surrendered three singles and threw just six of his 12 pitches for strikes before being pulled. Miller now owns a 2.19 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and an 11:9 K:BB across 12.1 innings in 15 appearances.

  • Landon Knack RP | LAD

Dodgers' Landon Knack: Drawing another start

Knack is listed as the Dodgers' starting pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Athletics in Los Angeles.

Clayton Kershaw (toe) is poised to return from the 60-day injured list this weekend, but the Dodgers are expected to keep a six-man rotation intact. With Ben Casparius moving back into a relief role over this past weekend, Knack will end up sticking around as the Dodgers' sixth starter after an impressive return to the big leagues against the Marlins last Wednesday, when he struck out five over five scoreless frames. Another strong showing against the Athletics would likely put Knack in position to maintain a starting role until one of Tyler Glasnow (shoulder) or Blake Snell (shoulder) return from the IL or until Shohei Ohtani is deemed ready to pitch in games.

  • Nate Lowe 1B | CLE

Nationals' Nathaniel Lowe: Swats seventh homer

Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals.

The Nationals managed only five hits total, with Lowe producing the team's only run of the day when he took Miles Mikolas deep in the fourth inning. It was the first baseman's first long ball in May, and while he's batting just .242 through 171 plate appearances in his first season with the Nats, Lowe is on pace for career-best power numbers with seven homers and 29 RBI in 41 contests.

  • C.J. Abrams SS | WAS

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Keeps raking Sunday

Abrams went 3-for-4 in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals.

None of the singles resulted in any runs, as the rest of the Nationals' lineup managed only two hits combined. Abrams has been on a tear since late April, collecting 10 hits in the last four games and slashing .379/.446/.515 over the last 16 contests with seven extra-base hits (five doubles and two triples), four steals, seven RBI and 10 runs. The surge has boosted his OPS on the season to a career-high .897 as the 24-year-old shortstop looks to take another big step forward in his development.

  • Ryne Stanek RP | STL

Mets' Ryne Stanek: Collects first win

Stanek (1-3) struck out two in a perfect eighth inning Sunday to pick up the win over the Cubs.

With the score tied 2-2, the right-hander breezed through Chicago's 9-1-2 hitters on 11 pitches (eight strikes) before the Mets' offense erupted for four runs in the bottom of the frame. After a rough end to the month of April that included three straight losses and blown saves, Stanek has yet to allow a run in May, posting a 5:0 K:BB over five scoreless innings as he re-establishes himself as a reliable high-leverage option for the Mets.

  • Mark Vientos 1B | NYM

Mets' Mark Vientos: Slugs fifth homer

Vientos went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Cubs.

Getting the start at third base against Matthew Boyd, Vientos took the southpaw deep for a solo shot in the sixth inning. Brett Baty has started the last three games at the hot corner against right-handed pitching, but Vientos should see more action at DH in those matchups if he keeps hitting. Since returning from a minor groin injury April 22, the 25-year-old is slashing .313/.366/.500 over his last 17 games with three of his five homers and 11 of his 17 RBI on the year.

  • Mickey Moniak LF | COL

Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Enjoys strong homestand

Moniak went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double Sunday against the Padres.

Moniak has at least one hit in six of his last seven games and went 7-for-22 with three RBI and two runs scored across Colorado's six-game homestand that concluded Sunday. He remains on the strong side of a platoon in right field and has started eight straight contests.

  • Rhett Lowder SP | CIN

Reds' Rhett Lowder: Completes second rehab start

Lowder (forearm) gave up five runs (four earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out five over three innings in his rehab start Sunday with High-A Dayton.

After covering three innings in his first rehab start in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Tuesday, Lowder shifted his assignment to the Midwest League for his second outing. Though he was capped at three innings once again, Lowder pushed up his pitch count to 63 (45 strikes). Lowder's final line wasn't especially impressive, though he was a victim of some bad luck on balls in play, as all five of the hits he allowed were singles. Lowder is likely to make at least one more start in the minors before the Reds decide whether he's ready to return from the 15-day injured list. Cincinnati could have a spot available in the rotation for Lowder once he's activated, as he might be viewed as an upgrade over Chase Petty for the No. 5 spot while the team waits for Hunter Greene (groin) to make his return from the IL.

  • Michael Kopech SP | LAD

Dodgers' Michael Kopech: Sharp in second rehab outing

Kopech (shoulder) struck out two batters and gave up one hit and no walks over a scoreless inning of relief in his second rehab appearance Sunday with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

After failing to record an out while issuing five walks and getting charged with five earned runs in his first rehab outing with Oklahoma City on Thursday, Kopech assuaged some of the concern about his health by delivering a strong performance Sunday. He touched 99.7 miles per hour with his fastball twice in his 14-pitch appearance, throwing 10 strikes while retiring three of the four batters he faced. Before kicking off his rehab assignment last week, Kopech hadn't pitched in a game setting since the World Series last fall while recovering from a right shoulder impingement, so he'll likely require at least a few more outings in the minors before the Dodgers bring him back from the 60-day injured list.
