Sasaki (shoulder) is playing catch at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday, per Dodgers Nation.

Sasaki resumed a throwing program last week and is slowly working his way back from a right shoulder impingement. Though he's back to playing catch, the rookie right-hander is expected to be out several more weeks. Sasaki will likely need to embark upon a minor-league rehab assignment before he's ready to be activated from the injured list, and he's unlikely to be back in the Dodgers rotation until at least late June.

Edman is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Mets on Wednesday.

Edman is out of the lineup for a second straight game, with Enrique Hernandez starting at the keystone and batting ninth. Edman has gone 9-for-37 with one steal, eight runs scored, one home run and three RBI over his last 10 games.

Smith is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Mets on Wednesday.

Smith will not start for the second time in three games while Dalton Rushing serves behind home plate and bats eighth. Smith has gone 0-for-9 with one RBI over his last three games after going 8-for-17 with one home run and three RBI across the four prior contests.

Oviedo (lat) threw a bullpen session Tuesday and is expected to throw live batting practice later this week, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Oviedo is close to taking the next step in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in December of 2023. He'll likely need a lengthy rehab assignment after facing live hitters, so he likely won't return to major-league action until July. Oviedo posted a 9-14 record across 32 regular-season starts for the Pirates in 2023 and held a 4.31 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 158:83 K:BB across 177.2 innings.

Kelly is starting at catcher and batting third in Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Kelly had been batting cleanup recently but will now move up to the No. 3 spot for the first time all season. The veteran has had a fantastic start to the year with a .927 OPS and nine home runs through 37 games. While Miguel Amaya is still in the mix behind the plate, Kelly has emerged as the team's top option due to his strong offensive production.

Mayza underwent imaging on his left shoulder last week and will do a plyometric program for the next two weeks, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Mayza landed on the 15-day injured list April 19 due to a left shoulder lat muscle strain. He could start throwing again should he make progress with the program he's set to embark on, but it may not be until late June or early July that he is cleared to go on a rehab assignment. The 33-year-old southpaw posted a 2.89 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 8:1 K:BB across 9.1 innings prior to his injury.

Mikolas and the Cardinals won't face the Royals on Wednesday, as the game was postponed due to rain, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Wednesday's game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Thursday, and Mikolas will likely take the mound at some point during the twin bill. The veteran right-hander has already made a start against the Royals this season, during which he twirled six shutout innings while giving up just two hits and two walks while striking out four batters on May 17.

Pirates senior director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk told reporters Wednesday that he "would have no issues with recommending" Moreta (elbow) to be activated from the 60-day injured list, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Moreta has made 11 rehab outings with Triple-A Indianapolis and has yielded just one run and three hits over his last 6.2 innings. The 29-year-old right-hander is in the final stages of his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in March of 2024. He last saw major-league action in 2023 with Pittsburgh, and he had five holds with a 3.72 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 76:24 K:BB across 58 frames.

Manager Rob Thomson said Wednesday that Nola (ankle) will be shut down from throwing for a couple days due to right side stiffness, Jordan Horrobin of MLB.com reports.

Nola was slated to throw another bullpen session Thursday as the next step in his recovery from a sprained right ankle, but the Phillies will instead push his next mound session back a few days. Thomson described the right-hander's side injury as "very mild," so it shouldn't impact his return timeline too much.

Senior director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Bart has returned to full baseball activities but remains in the concussion protocol, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Bart is progressing in his recovery from a concussion, but he'll need to clear the league's protocol before returning. He was placed on the 7-day injured list May 28 after being struck in the head by a backswing. Henry Davis and Endy Rodriguez will continue to work behind home plate for the Pirates while Bart is sidelined.
