The Rockies recalled Palmquist from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.

He was just optioned to Triple-A on Thursday, but Palmquist will rejoin the Rockies in short order and reclaim a spot in the rotation after Kyle Freeland (back) was placed on the 15-day IL. Palmquist will start Monday on the road against the Nationals, and he'll tentatively line up for a second start later in the week versus the Diamondbacks at Coors Field. Though he's regarded as one of the better pitching prospects in a thin system, he went 0-4 with a 7.77 ERA and 1.82 WHIP over his first five starts with Colorado and won't make for an appealing streaming option in the majority of fantasy leagues.

The Rockies placed Freeland on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to lower-back stiffness.

Freeland didn't seem to be dealing with any physical issues while turning in his third consecutive quality start Wednesday, so the back injury may have cropped up during his between-starts bullpen session. The lefty's stint on the IL will be backdated to Thursday, and he could be ready for reinstatement when first eligible June 27. The Rockies called up Carson Palmquist from Triple-A Albuquerque to fill Freeland's spot in the rotation.

Donovan (toe) will start at second base and bat leadoff Sunday against the Brewers, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Donovan hasn't seen the field since Tuesday due to sprained left big toe, but he's good to go for Sunday's series finale in Milwaukee. He'll wear a carbon-fiber orthotic in his shoe to help manage his return from the injury. Donovan was off to a slow start in June prior to the injury and has a .200/.317/.257 slash line through nine games this month.

Tucker is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

In what appears to be a routine rest day, Tucker will head to the bench for just the third time all season and for the first time since he missed a pair of starts June 3 and 4 while tending to a jammed right ring finger. Since making his return, Tucker is batting just .237 with one home run and one stolen base in 10 games, though he's walked at a 15.6 percent clip. With Tucker taking a seat, Seiya Suzuki will start in right field, and Justin Turner will enter the lineup at designated hitter.

The Rockies transferred Feltner (back) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.

Feltner made his last start for the Rockies on April 28 before being shut down due to back spasms. The right-hander was initially expected to be in line for a brief stay on the IL, but his return date was pushed back when he experienced back tightness leading up to a rehab start in late May. Feltner has since resumed throwing bullpen sessions at the team's spring training complex in Arizona, but he has yet to resume facing hitters and will likely need to make multiple rehab starts before returning to the big-league rotation, perhaps shortly before the All-Star break.

The Rockies reinstated Gomber (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday in Atlanta.

Gomber will be making his 2025 debut after suffering a left shoulder injury in spring training and then experiencing a setback during a March 28 rehab start with Triple-A Albuquerque. He was cleared to resume his rehab assignment June 4, and after covering four innings in starts with Double-A Hartford and Albuquerque, Gomber is ready to slot back into the Colorado rotation. The southpaw tossed 69 pitches during his most recent appearance Tuesday and could be capped at around 80 or 90 pitches Sunday.

The Rockies optioned Agnos to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.

Agnos leads the Rockies with four saves this season, but his ratios (5.48 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 3.3 K-BB% in 21.1 innings) have left much to be desired. After Agnos allowed runs in each of his last four appearances, the Rockies will have the 24-year-old righty report to the organization's performance lab in Arizona to hone his mechanics before he heads to Albuquerque, per Thomas Harding of MLB.com. Seth Halvorsen, Tyler Kinley, Victor Vodnik and Jake Bird look to be the Rockies' top high-leverage relievers, but mining for saves on a 13-57 squad could prove to be a fruitless endeavor for fantasy managers.

Encarnacion went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's 11-5 loss to the Dodgers.

Encarnacion lined a double to right field in the third inning and added a single off position player Enrique Hernandez in the ninth before coming around to score. The 27-year-old delivered his first multi-hit performance of the season after missing an extended period to start the year while recovering from surgery to repair a fractured left hand. Encarnacion has now logged three hits across seven games this season, slashing .143/.143/.190 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base in 21 plate appearances.

McLain went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 11-1 win over the Tigers.

McLain's three-run blast in the eighth inning provided further cushion for Cincinnati in the blowout win. Even though he's gone a respectable 7-for-26 at the plate over his last eight games, McLain is still batting just .186 on the season on the heels of a rough April and May. He continues to bat ninth in the order on a regular basis, though he'll elevate to the No. 2 spot for Sunday's series finale while the Tigers send left-handed opener Tyler Holton to the hill.

Smith went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a walk in Saturday's 11-5 loss to the Dodgers.

Smith doubled to right field during the fifth inning and added a walk in the ninth before coming around to score. The 30-year-old has now logged at least one hit in four straight games, slashing .571/.625/.929 with four runs scored, three RBI, two doubles and a home run across 16 plate appearances during that span. The first baseman has provided an offensive boost since signing with the Giants on June 4, slashing .364/.395/.545 with seven RBI, four runs scored, three doubles, a homer and a stolen base across 38 plate appearances.
