  • Padres' Miguel Andujar: Sitting after four straight starts

Andujar is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs. Andujar started each of the last four games -- twice against lefties, twice against righties -- and went 6-for-14 with two doubles, one walk and one run. He should remain a regular presence in the lineup versus southpaws, but Andujar may have to settle for a part-time role against righties while the Padres seem to be prioritizing Ty France over him for the final spot in the everyday lineup.

  • Padres' Miguel Andujar: Out of lineup again Monday

Andujar is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta. Andujar has not started either of the Padres' two games since he was activated from the 10-day injured list Sunday. The Padres have faced right-handers in both contests, so Andujar could be looking at a short-side platoon role for the time being. Will Wagner started at designated hitter Sunday, and Gavin Sheets is slotting in at DH on Monday.

  • Padres' Miguel Andujar: Makes return from IL

The Padres reinstated Andujar (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Sunday. San Diego designated Nick Solak for assignment to clear room for Andujar, who will be available off the bench for Sunday's series finale versus the Rangers. Andujar should eventually settle back into a near-everyday role after he had produced a .254/.288/.418 slash line with five home runs, two stolen bases, 17 RBI and 18 runs in 54 games prior to suffering a left hamstring strain June 13.

Now officially battling a strain, he'll move to the injured list and remain out until at least June 21. Nick Solak was selected to the active roster in a corresponding move.

After the game, manager Craig Stammen said Andujar "tweaked his hammy a little bit" and characterized the slugger's removal as precautionary.
