  • Rockies' Yanquiel Fernandez: Promotion made official

The Rockies recalled Fernandez from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

Fernandez has been on the 40-man roster since November of 2023, but he will be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game. The 22-year-old has slashed .284/.347/.502 with 13 home runs in 271 plate appearances with Albuquerque this season. The left-handed-hitting Fernandez is not in the lineup against Astros southpaw Colton Gordon on Tuesday, but he should see opportunities in the outfield versus right-handed pitching.

  • Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Ready for return to big leagues

Woodruff (elbow) has completed his rehab assignment and is expected to be activated from the injured list to start this weekend against the Marlins, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

After a tumultuous rehab from shoulder surgery, Woodruff is finally ready to make his return to the big-league mound for Milwaukee. The 32-year-old threw 80 pitches over 3.2 frames during his final rehab outing with Triple-A Nashville on Sunday, so he shouldn't have any major workload limitations in his first start. However, the Brewers are likely to remain cautious with the right-hander in his first MLB start since September of 2023.

  • Buck Farmer RP | CIN

Reds' Buck Farmer: Links up with Reds

The Reds signed Farmer to a minor-league contract Tuesday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Farmer will report to the Arizona Complex League for now before eventually moving up to Triple-A Louisville, assuming all goes well. The veteran reliever has spent all of the 2025 season in the minors, posting an 8.64 ERA and 18:11 K:BB over 16.2 frames. Farmer was one of the Reds' most dependable relievers from 2022-2024, posting a 3.68 ERA and 194:83 K:BB across 193 innings.

  • Kodai Senga SP | NYM

Mets' Kodai Senga: Throws live batting practice

Senga (hamstring) threw an up-and-down live batting practice session Sunday, Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record reports.

This marked Senga's first time facing hitters since he suffered a Grade 1 right hamstring strain nearly three weeks ago. His next step is to throw a bullpen session and go through pitchers' fielding practice Wednesday. If he gets through that without any hiccups, he could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment. The Mets don't expect Senga back until early on in the second half.

  • Jack Winkler SS | HOU

Marlins' Jack Winkler: Optioned to Triple-A

The Marlins optioned Winkler to Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.

Winkler was with the big club for a month but made just four starts, going 1-for-11 at the dish. He's clearing out to make room on the roster for Derek Hill's (wrist) return.

  • Max Meyer SP | MIA

Marlins' Max Meyer: Shifted to 60-day injured list

The Marlins transferred Meyer (hip) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

The move frees a 40-man roster spot for waiver claim Nick Nastrini. Meyer is out for the rest of the season after undergoing hip surgery last week.

  • Nick Nastrini SP | LAD

Marlins' Nick Nastrini: Claimed off waivers by Marlins

The Marlins claimed Nastrini off waivers from the White Sox on Tuesday and optioned him to Triple-A Jacksonville.

Nastrini has struggled mightily at Triple-A Charlotte this season, posting a 7.51 ERA and 48:39 K:BB over 44.1 innings. He also managed just a 7.07 ERA and 26:36 K:BB in 35.2 frames at the big-league level in 2024. However, Nastrini is still just 25 and was a fairly well-thought-of prospect at one time, so the Marlins felt he was worth a waiver claim.

  • Derek Hill RF | PHI

Marlins' Derek Hill: Back from 10-day IL

The Marlins activated Hill (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Hill missed more than a month with a left wrist sprain but has been cleared to return following a brief rehab assignment. He'll see some action in center field but could play second fiddle to Dane Myers at the position.

  • Nationals' Trevor Williams: Tuesday's game postponed

Williams won't start as scheduled Tuesday versus the Tigers since the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

It's already been a week since Williams made his previous start June 24, and he'll get another day of rest before likely taking the mound during Wednesday's doubleheader. The 33-year-old is looking for his first win since May 28, and he has a 5.55 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 18:5 K:BB over 24.1 innings during the winless stretch.

  • Nick Pivetta RP | SD

Padres' Nick Pivetta: Padres-Phillies game rained out

Pivetta's next outing will be pushed back after Tuesday's game in Philadelphia was postponed due to inclement weather.

The game will be made up as part of a split doubleheader Wednesday. Pivetta will presumably draw the start in one of those games, but it's not yet clear whether it will be the matinee or nightcap.
