Ronaldo Hernandez C | NYY
Yankees' Ronaldo Hernandez: Lands minor-league deal
Hernandez signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees on Sunday that includes an invite to big-league spring training.
The 27-year-old spent last season at Triple-A Reno in the Diamondbacks' system, where he played in 63 games and had a .311/.357/.507 slash line with 11 home runs. Hernandez has yet to make his MLB debut and is likely to open the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as organizational depth.

Curtis Mead 3B | BOS
Rays' Curtis Mead: Battling for bench spot
Mead will enter spring training battling with Eloy Jimenez for one of Tampa Bay's final bench spots, Marc Topkin of the Tamp Bay Times reports.
Mead was once a highly regarded prospect in the Rays' system, but he has managed just a 78 wRC+ across 224 big-league plate appearances. Though he's capable of playing both second and third base, the team boasts considerable depth at each position and could instead opt to keep the potential power bat of Jimenez on the roster.

Matt Manning SP | PHI
Tigers' Matt Manning: Role unclear heading into season
With the Tigers bolstering their rotation in the offseason, Manning could work as both a starter and a reliever in 2025 if he's able to make the team, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Detroit added Alex Cobb and Jack Flaherty during the offseason, and the team already has ace Tarik Skubal and Reese Olson locked into starting roles. Manning is thus among a large group of pitchers competing for the No. 5 spot that includes Keider Montero, top prospect Jackson Jobe, Casey Mize, Kenta Maeda and Brant Hurter. Manning spent most of 2024 with Triple-A Toledo, so he figures to be behind most of those players in the competition at this point. However, the 27-year-old could find his way onto the roster as a reliever. If Manning makes the bullpen out of spring training, he likely won't see high-leverage work, so his fantasy value figures to be limited either way.

Keider Montero SP | DET
Tigers' Keider Montero: May serve in swing role
With the Tigers bolstering their rotation in the offseason, Montero could work as both a starter and a reliever in 2025, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Detroit added Alex Cobb and Jack Flaherty during the offseason, and the team already has ace Tarik Skubal and Reese Olson locked into starting roles. That leaves the likes of Montero, top prospect Jackson Jobe, Casey Mize, Matt Manning, Kenta Maeda and Brant Hurter all vying for the No. 5 spot. Manager A.J. Hinch could mix and match in that role, which leaves Montero's outlook a bit in flux. The righty primarily served as a starter during his 2024 rookie campaign, making 16 starts among his 19 appearances overall. He posted a 4.76 ERA across 98.1 total innings. Montero's 2025 fantasy value would take a hit if he pitches in long relief, though more clarity should emerge during spring training.

Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA
Angels' Anthony Rendon: Not likely to start
Rendon isn't expected to be the Angels' Opening Day third baseman, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Rendon played in just 57 games last season, marking the fifth time in as many years that he appeared in fewer than 60 contests for the Angels. The 34-year-old also wasn't particularly effective when he was active, slashing just .218/.307/.267 with 14 RBI and six stolen bases over 238 plate appearances. The Halos agreed to a one-year pact with Yoan Moncada on Thursday, and the expectation is that Moncada will take over at the hot corner while Rendon presumably moves to the bench.

Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA
Angels' Yoan Moncada: Expected to start for Halos
Moncada is expected to open the season as the Angels' starting third baseman, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Moncada agreed to a one-year contract with Los Angeles on Thursday, and it now seems the Angels brought him in with the intent of replacing Anthony Rendon, who has yet to play more than 58 games in a season since joining the Angels in 2020. Moncada has also struggled to stay on the field recently, appearing in just 104 games over the past two years to Rendon's 100, but the former's production in that span (.733 OPS) far outpaces the latter's (.618 OPS).

Cade Marlowe LF | SEA
Mariners' Cade Marlowe: Outrighted to Triple-A
Marlowe was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday after clearing waivers.
Marlowe was DFA'd by the Mariners this past Monday in order to make room on the 40-man roster for Jorge Polanco (knee). Marlowe wasn't claimed off waivers, so he'll remain in Seattle's organization and will head to Triple-A for the start of the 2025 campaign. He spent most of the 2024 season with Tacoma, where he slashed .235/.341/.395 with 43 stolen bases, 13 home runs and 45 RBI over 411 plate appearances.

Allan Winans SP | NYY
Yankees' Allan Winans: Outrighted by NYY
Winans cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.
Winans was let go by the Yankees on Wednesday, but he will remain with the organization after clearing waivers. He was claimed off waivers by the Yankees in late January after spending the last two seasons in Atlanta. Winans spent most of the 2024 regular season with Triple-A Gwinnett and posted a 7-5 record across 24 outings (16 starts) with a 3.30 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 100:37 K:BB over 114.2 innings.
