  • Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Taking seat against lefty

Chisholm is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

The Yankees will keep the left-handed-hitting Chisholm on the bench for a second straight matchup versus a southpaw, as he'll give way to Max Schuemann at second base while the Athletics send lefty Jacob Lopez to the hill. Chisholm is slashing just .234/.286/.344 (77 wRC+) over 70 plate appearances against lefties this season.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Receiving break Sunday

Langeliers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Langeliers started the previous 12 games but will receive a day off after posting a .130/.259/.304 slash line during that span. Jonah Heim is starting behind the plate and batting fifth for the series finale versus New York.

  • Jesus Sanchez RF | TOR

Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Tending to bruised wrist

The Blue Jays announced that Sanchez was removed in the bottom of the sixth inning of Sunday's 9-5 loss to the Orioles due to a right wrist contusion.

Sanchez went 1-for-2 with a base hit before leaving the game midway through the bottom of the sixth, when he appeared to be hit by a ball thrown into the field of play by a fan. Fortunately for Sanchez, precautionary X-rays came back negative, and he'll get an extra day to rest up and recover before the Blue Jays return to action Tuesday in Atlanta. Yohendrick Pinango replaced Sanchez in right field during Sunday's contest and would likely be the top choice to start Tuesday if Sanchez isn't ready to play.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Rangers' Danny Jansen: Getting rest Sunday

Jansen is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Jansen will get a routine breather after starting behind the plate in the first two games of the series. Kyle Higashioka will handle catching duties for the Rangers on Sunday.

  • Evan Carter CF | TEX

Rangers' Evan Carter: Available off bench Sunday

Carter (foot) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Michael Helman will pick up a second straight start in center field in place of Carter, who was removed from Friday's 9-1 win after being hit on the left foot by an 86.9-mph slider in the seventh inning. According to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com, tests on Carter's foot came back negative, but the 23-year-old is still dealing with some soreness. He'll be available off the bench Sunday, but the Rangers may prefer to stay away from him to ensure that he's ready to go for Monday's series opener in St. Louis.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: No decision yet on IL stint

Garcia is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers as the Royals await test results on the right hamstring injury he suffered in Saturday's 7-6 loss, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Garcia sustained the injury in the seventh inning Saturday while running the bases and was immediately lifted. At this stage, the 26-year-old appears more likely than not to wind up on the IL, but the Royals are holding out hope that he's dealing with a low-grade strain that may cause him to miss just a few games.

  • Nick Loftin 3B | KC

Royals' Nick Loftin: Poised to take over at 3B

Loftin will start at third base and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Angels.

Maikel Garcia suffered a hamstring injury Saturday and appears to be trending toward a stint on the injured list. If that's the case, Loftin would stand to be the primary beneficiary. The 27-year-old utility player has walked nearly as often as he's struck out this season with an 8:9 BB:K, but he's a career .219 hitter in the big leagues and has just five home runs and four stolen bases over 168 games.

  • Astros' Taylor Trammell: Holding down strong side of platoon

Trammell will start in left field and bat cleanup Sunday against the Brewers.

While the left-handed hitter may be shielded from matchups against southpaws, Trammell's been a fixture versus righties since returning from the injured list Tuesday. He'll draw a sixth straight start after going 6-for-18 with two doubles, three runs and two RBI over the prior five games. Trammell could eventually face competition for a regular role in the outfield from Joey Loperfido (quadriceps), who could be activated from the injured list at some point during the upcoming week.

  • Royals' Eric Cerantola: Returns to Omaha

The Royals optioned Cerantola to Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.

Cerantola was called up Friday and will return to Omaha after allowing one run over one inning during his lone appearance. The 26-year-old has posted a 1.37 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB across 19.2 frames at Triple-A this year while serving as the Storm Chasers' primary closer.

  • Edgar Quero C | CHW

White Sox's Edgar Quero: On bench against righty

Quero is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Quero has been heating up of late at the dish, going 6-for-16 with a home run, three walks, seven runs and five RBI over his last six games. However, he'll head to the bench Sunday for the fourth time in the White Sox's last five matchups against right-handed starters, so he may not have reclaimed primary catching duties from Drew Romo just yet.
