Manzardo has a .936 OPS with three homers in his past eight games, but he'll take a seat Sunday even though Boston is sending a righty-hander (Brayan Bello) to the mound. Jose Ramirez is resting his legs as the designated hitter while Will Wilson receives a start at the hot corner.

Altuve is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Altuve started the first 26 games of the season, but he'll take a seat Sunday while in the midst of a 4-for-28 slump. Zach Dezenzo will enter the lineup in left field and bat seventh in the series finale at Kansas City.

Westburg is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Detroit due to hamstring soreness, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The injury cropped up during Saturday's doubleheader as Westburg went 4-for-9 with an RBI and a caught stealing. Mullins isn't in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers since he's feeling under the weather, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The center fielder has apparently been battling the ailment for the past few days, and he'll receive a well-deserved break after playing all 18 innings of Saturday's doubleheader. Dylan Carlson will take over for Mullins in center field Sunday.

Rutschman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers due to right hand soreness, though he's expected to be available off the bench, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Rutschman suffered the injury while blocking a ball behind the plate during the second game of Sunday's doubleheader, but it's not believed to be a serious issue. Gary Sanchez is starting at catcher for the series finale in Detroit.

Buxton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Buxton will receive Sunday off after a run of 14 consecutive starts, and he was productive during that stretch with two doubles, two triples and five homers despite a 32.8 percent strikeout rate. Harrison Bader will shift to center field while DaShawn Keirsey picks up a start in left.

Roden is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

It's the second straight game on the bench for Roden, who has gone hitless with seven strikeouts in his past 17 at-bats. Jonatan Clase, who was called up as the 27th man for the doubleheader, is starting in left field for the matinee.

Schanuel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins after being diagnosed with a right knee bruise, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

The 23-year-old departed Saturday's contest after fouling a pitch off his knee, but he appears to have avoided a serious injury and is considered day-to-day. J.D. Davis is starting at first base Sunday in place of Schanuel, who will have a team off day Monday to aid in his recovery before Tuesday's series opener in Seattle.

Manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that Weaver will "get a lot" of the Yankees' save chances moving forward due to Devin Williams being removed from the closer role, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports.

Williams' disastrous start to the campaign culminated in him allowing three runs Friday for his first blown save of the season, bringing his ERA to 11.25 and prompting the Yankees to make a change. Weaver was dominant in the closer role late last year and will now reclaim the job, at least until Williams is back on track. Weaver has carried that dominance into 2025 with a 0.62 ERA and 13:5 K:BB across 13 scoreless innings.

Manager Aaron Boone announced Sunday that Williams has been removed from the closer role "for right now," Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.

The writing was on the wall after Williams blew his first save of the season Friday against Toronto, which was the second straight appearance in which he allowed three earned runs. The right-hander has yet to truly look like himself in 10 outings with the Yankees and has an 11.25 ERA and 8:7 K:BB across eight innings. New York presumably plans to return Williams to the closer job at some point this year, but he'll need to right the ship in a lesser role before getting that opportunity. Luke Weaver, who took over as the Yankees' closer down the stretch last season, has yet to allow a run through 11 outings this year and could get the bulk of the save chances in the meantime.
