  • Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Heads to IL with hamstring strain

The Mariners placed Arozarena on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to a left hamstring strain. The Mariners originally anticipated Arozarena would return to the starting lineup as soon as Wednesday. However, an MRI on his hamstring revealed more inflammation than the team was expecting, prompting Seattle to deactivate him. Victor Robles and Rob Refsnyder are the most likely candidates to receive more playing time in the corner outfield while Arozarena is out, and the Mariners called up Curtis Washington from High-A Everett to provide emergency depth in the outfield.

  • Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Won't start Tuesday

Arozarena (hamstring) isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Although Arozarena is set to miss a third straight start due to left hamstring soreness, general manager Justin Hollander said the 31-year-old could be available off the bench Tuesday and is likely to return to the starting nine Wednesday. In the meantime, Victor Robles, Julio Rodriguez and Dominic Canzone will form Seattle's outfield trio.

  • Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Remaining on bench Sunday

Arozarena (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals. Luke Raley will draw another start in left field while the Mariners keep Arozarena on the bench for a second straight game due to left hamstring soreness. Per MLB.com, Arozarena went through strength tests that indicated an MRI wouldn't be necessary, and he'll likely avoid a stint on the injured list. He'll benefit from a team off day Monday before the Mariners open a three-game home set versus the Orioles on Tuesday.

  • Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Homer, two steals in win

Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, three total runs scored and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the White Sox. After swiping his 13th and 14th bases of the season earlier in the contest, Arozarena gave the Mariners some breathing room with a two-run homer off Jordan Hicks with two outs in the seventh inning, extending the lead to 5-2. It's Arozarena's fifth homer this season and just his second in his last 18 games, though he has gone 21-for-65 (.323) in that span. Overall, the outfielder is slashing .302/.393/.467 with 21 RBI and 36 runs scored across 214 plate appearances.

  • Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Perfect at plate Tuesday

Arozarena went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run, two doubles, a hit-by-pitch, three total RBI, one stolen base and four runs scored in Tuesday's 10-2 win over the Astros. Arozarena filled up the box score from the No. 5 spot in the order. He hit the homer in the second inning before continuing an impressive performance throughout the game. Arozarena has hit safely in his last six contests, going 12-for-23 (.522) in that span, though all of his knocks over the previous five games were singles. For the season, the outfielder is batting .303 with an .854 OPS, four homers, 16 RBI, 31 runs scored, 11 doubles and 10 stolen bases across 43 games.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Yields three homers in loss

Gore (2-2) allowed five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Mariners. Gore's control issues from his previous outing didn't return in this one, as he threw 61 of 90 pitches for strikes. However, the Mariners were able to tee off against him, beginning with Rob Refsnyder's solo shot to open the bottom of the first. J.P. Crawford and Randy Arozarena also had two-run blasts in the game, making it Gore's worst outing of the season in terms of runs allowed. The southpaw has been passable to open his Rangers tenure, posting a 4.15 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 35:12 K:BB over 26 innings across his first five starts with his new team. The strikeout upside is there, but Gore's also carried a high walk rate often in his career, and this season's 4.2 BB/9 is an extension of that trend. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Athletics.

  • Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Homer, double in win

Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Rangers. Arozarena provided the Mariners' last runs of the game with a fifth-inning blast. This was his fifth multi-hit effort over the last 10 games, a span in which the outfielder has gone 13-for-38 (.342) with four extra-base hits, six RBI and two stolen bases. He continues to hit well in the heart of the order, batting .293 with an .829 OPS, two homers, nine RBI, 18 runs scored, five doubles and five stolen bases across 23 contests.

  • Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Homer, three RBI in win

Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI and a hit-by-pitch in Friday's 9-6 win over the Astros. Arozarena got plunked at an opportune time, as it drove in the Mariners' second run. He then put them ahead 5-3 in the fifth inning with his first homer of the season. Despite the lack of power so far, Arozarena has been one of the team's few reliable hitters, batting .271 with an .803 OPS, six RBI, 10 runs scored, three stolen bases and an 8:11 BB:K through 14 contests. He remains in the No. 5 spot in the order regularly, but the cold bats higher in the lineup could afford him a chance to move up if things don't change.

  • Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Nabs steal No. 30

Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Dodgers. The veteran outfielder slumped in the middle of September, but Arozarena appears to be pulling himself out of it ahead of the playoffs, going 6-for-21 (.286) over his last five games, although his homer drought now stands at 15 contests. On the season, he has a career-high 27 long balls, and Friday's steal was his 30th -- the second time in his career he's reached that plateau, after he swiped 32 in 2022.

  • Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Posts steal in win

Arozarena went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one stolen base in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Rockies. This was Arozarena's first multi-hit effort since Sept. 11 versus the Angels. In the 11 games in between, he went just 3-for-44 (.068) with a 3:19 BB:K. That has done some damage on his rate stats for the season -- he now sits at a .235/.331/.424 slash line with 27 home runs, 29 steals, 76 RBI and 93 runs scored through 157 contests. Despite the recent slump, he has remained the Mariners' leadoff hitter during the team's 17-1 stretch that began Sept. 6 in Atlanta.

The round tripper wraps an August over which Arozarena led off in all 27 contests he played, hitting .212 (24-for-113) with five homers, four steals, 21 runs scored and 13 RBI. At the plate, Arozarena has been in a bit of a slump, batting .213/.289/.385 over his past 30 games, but he's still managed to produce six home runs during the stretch.

For the year, the 30-year-old is slashing .249/.350/.472 with 22 home runs, 55 RBI, 63 runs and 20 steals across 477 plate appearances, and he appears to have taken over the leadoff role against right-handed pitching following the Mariners' recent trades.

Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Athletics. In addition to his well-rounded power and speed numbers, Arozarena is slashing .247/.350/.463 with 52 RBI, 60 runs scored, 23 doubles and one triple this season. The outfielder now has a .249/.354/.471 slash line with 52 RBI, 59 runs scored and 17 steals through 103 games overall.

The Mariners went yard four times in the contest, with Arozarena's homer coming off Jonathan Loaisiga in the sixth inning, but it wasn't enough to keep up with the home squad. Arozarena has been on an absolute tear since the last day of June -- the veteran outfielder has 15 home runs on the season, and seven of them have come in his last nine games, a stretch in which he's slashing .303/.314/.939 with 11 RBI.
