Romero is on the 7-day injured list with Single-A Salem due to back stiffness, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports.

According to Callis, Romero is expected to be activated sometime this month. Romero dealt with the back issue during spring training. The 19-year-old shortstop will look to build off his impressive 19-game pro debut from last year, where he slashed .304/.368/.506 across rookie ball and Single-A.

DeJong (back) went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts Tuesday in a rehab game with Triple-A Memphis.

It was his first game at Memphis following a three-game run with Single-A Palm Beach. DeJong is 1-for-13 with six strikeouts through four total games on the farm as he aims to get right following a spring back injury. There's no exact timetable for his return to the Cardinals, and he'll probably fill a backup or utility role once he is deemed fit for MLB competition.

Turner is back in the leadoff spot Tuesday versus the Marlins.

Bryson Stott took a turn at leadoff Monday, with Turner hitting second, but the Phillies will return to their typical top-of-the-order setup Tuesday against the Marlins and left-hander Jesus Luzardo. Stott is batting eighth.

Barrero is starting at shortstop and batting ninth Tuesday versus Atlanta.

This is now back-to-back starts at short for Barrero, and back-to-back benchings for Kevin Newman. Neither player has been particularly productive in the early going this season.

The White Sox placed Anderson on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, and he's expected to be sidelined for 2-to-4 weeks with a sprained left knee, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Anderson sustained the injury in Monday's win over the Twins after he was involved in a collision on the field. Elvis Andrus should slide over to handle shortstop while Anderson is out, with Romy Gonzalez, Hanser Alberto and Lenyn Sosa all in the mix for reps at second base.

Volpe will not be in the Yankees' lineup for Tuesday's game in Cleveland, manager Aaron Boone told the Talkin' Yanks podcast Tuesday.

It will be the rookie's first day off of the season after he started the first 10 games. Oswaldo Cabrera will be at shortstop Tuesday. Volpe has struggled out of the gate, going 4-for-31 at the dish. He has just one hit in his last five games.

Witt went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Rangers.

Things looked promising for Kansas City when Witt began the contest with a single, subsequently stole second base and came around to score on an error. That would prove to be the high point of hope for the Royals, however, as Texas scored the game's next 11 runs. Witt at least gave his fantasy managers something to celebrate with his second theft of the campaign, which he's complemented with two homers and four RBI. However, the second-year shortstop has struggled overall with a .158/.238/.316 slash line through 11 contests.

Seager went 3-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two total runs and two total RBI in an 11-2 victory versus Kansas City on Monday.

Seager entered Monday having hit a double in three straight games, though he hadn't gone deep yet this season. The shortstop couldn't continue the double streak, but he ended the homerless drought with a first-inning solo shot off Zack Greinke. Seager is slashing a solid .324/.435/.486 on the campaign, yet he's produced just four RBI thus far.

Rojas is not in the Dodgers' lineup for Monday's game versus the Giants.

Rojas returned to the lineup Sunday after missing some time with a groin injury, but manager Dave Robert indicated at the time the infielder would probably be back on the bench Monday as he's eased back into things. Chris Taylor is handling shortstop again.

Mondesi (knee) took batting practice and fielded grounders Monday in Tropicana Field, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Mondesi continues to make progress as he works his way back from the ACL tear he suffered in 2022. The speedy infielder is on the 60-day injured list, so he's not eligible to return to Boston until the end of May at the earliest. Once healthy, he could see plenty of time in the infield, and his speed gives him a chance for immediate fantasy relevancy.
