    Wendle is not in the starting lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the Rangers, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

    Wendle will take a seat after he went 4-for-8 with two doubles and a run scored while starting the final two games of the series against the Mets. Brian Anderson will slide over to third base while Jerar Encarnacion enters the lineup in right field and bats eighth in the early contest Monday.

    Rangers' Josh Smith: Gets look as full-time outfielder

    Smith will start in left field and bat eighth in the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the Marlins.

    After receiving a promotion from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday, Smith has stepped in as the Rangers' new everyday left fielder while Kole Calhoun has moved into a bench role. Even with a lefty (Trevor Rogers) taking the hill for Miami in Game 1, the lefty-hitting Smith will draw his fourth consecutive start after going 2-for-10 with a run scored in the Rangers' three-game series with Toronto over the weekend.

    Dodgers' Trea Turner: Extends hit streak to nine

    Turner went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run and RBI in an 11-2 win against the Padres on Sunday.

    Turner singled home a run and scored as part of a six-run seventh inning and tacked on a solo shot in the ninth for his third multi-hit game in his last five. The 29-year-old has hit safely in each of nine September contests, slashing .300/.333/.575 with six extra-base hits and two stolen bases.

    Crawford isn't in the lineup Sunday against the Cubs, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

    Crawford went 1-for-4 with a strikeout Saturday and will be out of the lineup for the fifth time in the last seven games. Thairo Estrada is starting at shortstop and batting sixth.

    Brewers' Willy Adames: Homers again Sunday

    Adames went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's 7-6 victory over the Reds.

    The 27-year-old went yard for the second game in a row to help the Brewers defeat the Reds. The two-run shot in the second was Adames' 28th homer on the season, good for second among shortstops and just one shy of Corey Seager. Adames is heating up, as he is 8-for-26 over his last seven games, with five of those hits going for extra bases.

    Red Sox's Trevor Story: Exits with left heel pain

    Story was removed from Sunday's game against the Orioles in the bottom of the seventh inning due to left heel pain, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

    Story grounded into a double play to end the top of the seventh inning, and he was replaced defensively to begin the bottom half of the frame. Prior to his departure, he went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. He'll be able to rest during Boston's scheduled day off Monday, and it's not yet clear whether he'll be available for Tuesday's series opener against the Yankees.

    White Sox's Tim Anderson: Meeting with specialist on tap

    Anderson is scheduled to meet with a hand specialist Tuesday, at which point the White Sox could have a better sense of if or when he'll return this season, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

    Anderson underwent surgery on his left hand Aug. 11 and is now four weeks into what was expected to be a six-week recovery period. His upcoming meeting with a specialist should determine whether that six-week timeline remains in place, and if Anderson receives a positive evaluation, he could be cleared to resume light baseball activities. Elvis Andrus has taken over as the White Sox's everyday shortstop while Anderson has been on the mend from the surgery.

    Blue Jays' Otto Lopez: Optioned to Triple-A

    Lopez was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

    Lopez was recalled Friday to give the Blue Jays another hitter with Teoscar Hernandez away from the team, but he will head back to Buffalo with Hernandez returning to action Sunday.

    Angels' David Fletcher: Not part of Sunday's lineup

    Fletcher (hand) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

    Fletcher left Saturday's game after being hit by a pitch on the right hand, and he will get at least one day to recover. Luis Rengifo and Andrew Velazquez will form the Angels' starting middle infield Sunday.

    Red Sox's Trevor Story: Has three RBI in win

    Story went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 17-4 win over the Orioles.

    Story accounted for the 17th and final run in Saturday's trouncing of the Orioles when Enrique Hernandez singled him home. Story also knocked in a few runs of his own, plating Xander Bogaerts in the fourth inning and Abraham Almonte in the eighth. His final RBI came on a bases-loaded walk in the ninth that scored Almonte again. The veteran second baseman has improved his batting average from .232 to .240 this month thanks to three multi-hit games and a .313/.371/.531 slash line.
