Crawford will sit Saturday against the Marlins, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The Giants faced five straight righties after Crawford returned from a hamstring strain, and the veteran started against four of them. He'll hit the bench here against lefty Braxton Garrett, with Casey Schmitt starting at shortstop.

Crawford went 2-for-4 with a double in a loss to Atlanta on Friday.

The veteran shortstop stuck in the leadoff spot while reaching safely for the 15th straight start. Crawford's .244 average and .341 slugging percentage leave plenty to be desired, but his .370 on-base percentage, partly fueled by a 16.0 percent walk rate, gives him solid top-of-the-order credentials as manager Scott Servais looks to get Julio Rodriguez's offense ignited a bit further down the lineup.

Mateo went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 6-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Mateo missed a game with leg soreness earlier in the week, but it can't be bothering him too much if he can still be a threat on the basepaths. He's had limited opportunities to run lately with a paltry .148 on-base percentage across 15 contests in May. His hot start to the season has propped up his slash line at a respectable .252/.296/.447 through 38 games, but it's concerning to see the speedster slip back to his old ways at the plate. He's added 14 steals, six home runs, 22 RBI and 26 runs scored this season.

Diaz will sit Saturday versus the Astros.

Diaz will head to the bench after he went 2-for-4 with a strikeout in Friday's 5-1 loss. Nick Allen will take over at shortstop and bat ninth against Houston.

Turner will be on the bench Saturday against the Cubs.

The start to Turner's first season in Philadelphia hasn't gone as he or the team would have hoped, but Saturday's off day (the first of the season for Turner) looks like nothing more than a routine one. After slashing .302/.355/.487 across his first eight seasons, he's hitting just .257/.302/.390 this year, and his five steals are a disappointing total given the explosion of stolen bases across the league following the offseason rule changes. He's also developed an uncharacteristic strikeout problem, with 18 strikeouts in his last 12 games raising his season strikeout rate to 26.6 percent. The Phillies will hope the day off allows him to reset and get back to his old self.

Seager started at shortstop and went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Friday's 7-2 win over Colorado.

Seager played the field for the first time since being activated off the injured list. He had served as the designated hitter Wednesday. Seager's double was such that he didn't have to run very hard and eventually scored from third base on a Josh Jung double, so he didn't have to test the hamstring that forced him to miss more than a month.

Perdomo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 13-3 loss to the Pirates.

At the time of the third-inning homer, Perdomo tied the game 1-1 before Pittsburgh plated 10 runs over the next two frames. It was the fourth homer in 144 plate appearances for Perdomo, who hit five over 500 PAs in 2022. He's one of a few reasons for the Diamondbacks' strong start and is hitting .326/.418/.547. The Diamondbacks attribute his improvement to offseason work learning stay more grounded in his swing, according to Theo Mackie of the Arizona Republic. Perdomo and Gabriel Moreno (.313/.341/.391) have shored up the bottom of the order for Arizona.

Duran went 3-for-3 with a double and a stolen base during Friday's win over the Rockies.

Duran was perfect at the dish Friday and collected his first three-hit game since May 2. He boosted his slash line to .307/.343/.512 with three steals and 14 extra-base hits through 134 plate appearances this season. The 23-year-old has picked up six of those extra-base knocks over his last seven games.

Berti is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Giants.

Berti has seven stolen bases on the year, but he's seen a major decrease in playing time since Joey Wendle returned from the injured list earlier this month and resumed his starting duties at shortstop.

Edman (abdomen) said he expects to return to the lineup Saturday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

He's absent from the Cardinals' starting lineup Friday night against the Dodgers after a collision with Lars Nootbaar in Thursday's series opener. Edman checked out negative for any serious injury, though, and got through a workout without issue Friday afternoon in St. Louis.
