Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE
Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Returns to Triple-A
The Guardians optioned Rocchio to Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
With Jose Ramirez returning from the bereavement list Friday, Rocchio will return to Triple-A to continue his development. The switch-hitting prospect went 2-for-10 at the plate in his first three major-league games and collected his first career RBI on Thursday. If he continues his .338/.396/.486 pace in Columbus, it's very possible Rocchio finds himself back in Cleveland before long, although he might need an injury in the team's infield to get consistent playing time.

Tommy Edman 2B | LAD
Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Absent from lineup Friday
Edman (abdomen) is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Dodgers.
Edman was pulled from Thursday's game due to abdominal soreness related to a collision with teammate Lars Nootbaar and is presumably day-to-day. Nolan Gorman is playing second base and batting third Friday for the Cardinals, while Paul DeJong is at shortstop and Oscar Mercado handles right field.

Jose Barrero SS | BAL
Reds' Jose Barrero: Getting start in center field
Barrero is starting in center field and batting ninth for the Reds on Friday against the Yankees.
It's the first start in center field this month for Barrero, who has ceded his shortstop job to Matt McLain. Barrero sports just a .652 OPS on the season, although he did reach base four times in his last start.

Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA
Braves' Ehire Adrianza: Moved to 60-day IL
Adrianza was transferred to the 60-day injured list by Atlanta on Friday with a left shoulder strain.
Adrianza had been set to return from his right elbow injury soon but evidently must have hurt his shoulder while on a rehab assignment. He now won't be eligible for activation until early July.

Paul DeJong SS | DET
Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Homers again
DeJong went 1-for-5 with a homer in Thursday's win over the Dodgers.
For the second straight night, DeJong connected for a homer. The shortstop has homered six times in just 20 games. He probably won't top 30 home runs for the first time since 2019, but he is on pace for a monster season. His .923 OPS ranks second in St. Louis.

Bo Bichette 3B | NYM
Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Crushes homer in three-hit night
Bichette went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss against the Yankees.
Bichette popped a first-inning homer and picked up two singles off Nestor Cortes. The shortstop is cruising with a .328 batting average and nine homers this year. However, he has swiped just one bag in 2023 after taking 38 combined in the previous two seasons.

Anthony Volpe SS | NYY
Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Slugs another homer
Volpe went 1-for-2 with a home run in Thursday's win over the Blue Jays.
Volpe gave the Yankees an insurance run by smacking the foul pole in the ninth inning. Volpe cleared the fence just twice in April but has picked up the power numbers with five homers in May. The batting average still sits at a meager .215, but the shortstop has the third most homers and third most steals among rookies.

Tommy Edman 2B | LAD
Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Exits after outfield collision
Edman was removed from Thursday's game against the Dodgers due to lower abdomen soreness, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Edman collided with Lars Nootbaar early in Thursday's game as the pair converged in the outfield to catch a flyball. He remained in the game briefly but was pulled before his next at-bat in favor of Juan Yepez. It's unclear how serious the issue may be, though the initial diagnosis doesn't suggest it's particularly serious.

Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA
Braves' Ehire Adrianza: On track for weekend return
Adrianza (elbow) appears on track to be activated from the injured list this weekend, Grant McAuley of 929 The Game reports.
Braden Shewmake was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday, during a scheduled off day for Atlanta, and it looks like Adrianza's activation could be the corresponding move Friday. Out since May 5 due to right elbow inflammation, the veteran utility infielder has gone 5-for-14 (.357) with four RBI through four rehab games at High-A Rome.

Braden Shewmake SS | HOU
Braves' Braden Shewmake: Optioned back to Triple-A
Atlanta optioned Shewmake to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.
Shewmake appeared in only two games during his nearly two-week stay on the major-league roster and went 0-for-4 with no walks and one strikeout. The 25-year-old infielder will return to the Triple-A level to get regular playing time. He's tallied five homers and nine stolen bases in 24 games this season with Gwinnett.
