  • Mookie Betts RF | LAD

Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Cranks 15th homer in loss

Betts went 1-for-4 with a solo home in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Pirates.

The 32-year-old shortstop smacked his 15th homer of the year, and he now has at least one hit in five of his last six outings. Betts has found himself in a season-long slump -- his .701 OPS is well on pace to be the worst mark of his career by far -- but his overall fantasy upside should remain decent from the top part of the Dodgers' lineup. Through 568 plate appearances, Betts is slashing a pedestrian .250/.322/.379 with 18 doubles, 61 RBI, 83 runs scored and eight stolen bases.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Hits go-ahead solo shot

Witt went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Angels.

Witt has hit four homers over his last 15 contests and now has 21 round-trippers on the season. During that 15-game sample, he's gone 20-for-61 (.328) at the plate, a couple steps above his .295 batting average for the year. The star shortstop has added an .860 OPS, 34 stolen bases, 77 RBI, 90 runs scored, 41 doubles and five triples over 138 games. It's a slightly down campaign compared to what Witt showed in 2024, but he's still undeniably one of the best category-coverage players in the majors.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Season over after surgery

Rays manager Kevin Cash announced Thursday that Walls will miss the rest of the season after undergoing sports hernia surgery, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Walls had been out since Aug. 9 with a left groin strain and saw a specialist Wednesday after still feeling discomfort, which ultimately led to him getting the surgery. With his season now done, the 29-year-old finished his fifth year in the majors with a career high .220 batting average across 317 plate appearances.

  • Brooks Lee SS | MIN

Twins' Brooks Lee: Getting breather Thursday

Lee is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox.

Lee is receiving a well-earned day of rest after starting each of the previous 20 contests for the Twins. Ryan Fitzgerald will fill in at shortstop in Lee's stead.

  • Luke Williams SS | ATL

Braves' Luke Williams: DFA'd by Atlanta

Atlanta designated Williams for assignment Thursday.

Williams went just 4-for-30 at the plate with Atlanta this season while recording five RBI and scoring five runs. Williams' defensive versatility could allow him to get claimed by another team, though he remains a non-factor on offense.

  • Tai Peete SS | SEA

Mariners' Tai Peete: Flirting with 20/20 season

Peete is slashing .216/.284/.403 with 18 home runs and 25 steals in 121 games for High-A Everett.

Peete, who is playing his first full season in center field, is flirting with a 20/20 season at High-A in his age-19 season (he turned 20 in August). While he has been well below league average (77 wRC+), he has still shown reason to be patient in deeper dynasty leagues. His .283 BABIP is partially to blame for his mediocre slash line, and he encouragingly logged career-high flyball (39.1 percent) and pull (50.2 percent) rates for the AquaSox. Peete will presumably head back to High-A in 2026 with a chance to spend most of the year at Double-A if he can trim this year's 30.9 percent strikeout rate.

  • Pirates' Termarr Johnson: Power lacking at Double-A

Johnson is slashing .270/.353/.386 with nine home runs and 20 steals in 109 games for Double-A Altoona.

His slash line doesn't excite, but he's been 15 percent better than the average Eastern League hitter. For what it's worth, Johnson's been racking up hits of late, batting .370 with a .446 OBP over his last 18 games, although none of his 27 hits during this stretch have left the yard. Johnson will likely be given more opportunities than his overall skill set might otherwise warrant due to the fact he was the No. 4 overall pick in 2022, but his dynasty stock is trending down. He hasn't slugged over .400 since he was at High-A in 2023 and he doesn't project to add defensive value at second base.

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Homers in return

Arias started at shortstop and went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 8-1 win over the Red Sox.

Arias, who missed four consecutive games with a hand injury, clubbed a home run in his first plate appearance, which kicked off Cleveland's six-run second inning. The homer was the 10th of the season for Arias, who needs one more to establish a new career high in that category. He is expected to remain the primary shortstop for now, but a .202/.250/.374 slash line in the second half may leave his hold on the job shaky.

  • Ha-seong Kim SS | ATL

Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Belts game-winning homer

Kim went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's win over the Cubs.

The 29-year-old clubbed the first pitch he saw from Drew Pomeranz in the seventh inning over the left-field fence, erasing a 1-0 deficit in an eventual 5-1 win. Incredibly, it was the first home run by an Atlanta shortstop this season, as the team has gotten a league-low .535 OPS at the position in 2025. The long ball was the third of the year in 26 games for Kim, who should handle starting duties the rest of September after making his Atlanta debut Tuesday.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Clubs 15th long ball

Pena went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk in an 8-7 win against the Yankees on Wednesday.

Pena pulled the Astros to within two runs with his solo shot in the sixth inning, and he later gave his team another run with an RBI-single in the eighth. Pena has produced six multi-hit performances over his past 12 games, batting .306 with two homers, eight RBI, six runs and three thefts over that span. He's up to an .848 OPS on the campaign, which is on pace to blow away his previous career-best mark of .715.
