  • Twins' Austin Martin: Not in Thursday's lineup

Martin is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the White Sox. After starting each of the previous six contests, Martin will grab a seat in Thursday's matinee. Kody Clemens will patrol right field for the Twins.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Plays hero Friday

Martin went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 8-6 win over the Red Sox. Martin came up clutch with what proved to be the game-winning two-run blast in the top of the seventh inning. It was a much-needed swing for the 27-year-old, who entered the contest in an 0-for-14 slump over his past five contests. For the year, he's slashing a solid .297/.413/.398 with two homers, 13 RBI, 17 runs scored and seven steals across 155 plate appearances.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Exiting starting nine Wednesday

Martin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros. Though he maintains a healthy 131 wRC+ for the season, Martin will hit the bench Wednesday while he's in the midst of a bit of a lull at the plate. Over his last four starts, Martin has gone 0-for-14 and has reached base twice during that span on a walk and hit-by-pitch. Kody Clemens will cover right field for Martin in the series finale.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Riding pine Saturday

Martin isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Cleveland. Martin has tallied 10 hits over the course of his six-game hitting streak, but the Twins will keep him on the bench to begin Saturday's matchup. His absence will allow Matt Wallner to start in right field while batting eighth.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Hitting bench Wednesday

Martin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals. He'll hit the bench Wednesday, but after opening the season in a short-side platoon role in the outfield, Martin is beginning to encroach on the left-handed-hitting Matt Wallner's playing time against right-handed pitching. Martin picked up starts in three of the Twins' previous four matchups with righties and is sporting a team-best .886 OPS over 100 plate appearances on the season.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Responsible for team's lone run

Martin went 1-for-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly during the Twins' 2-1 loss to the Reds on Friday. Martin's sacrifice fly in the fifth inning plated the Twins' only run during Friday's loss. Martin has been effective at the plate as of late, having reached base safely in 11 of his last 12 games. Over his last eight games, Martin has gone 9-for-20 (.450) with one steal (on three attempts), one home run, two RBI, five walks and six runs scored.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Back on bench vs. righty

Martin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays. The right-handed hitter had been in a corner outfield spot for four of the last five games, but all of those starts came against left-handed pitching. The Twins still appear to be treating Martin mostly as a short-side platoon player, so he'll likely continue to sit against most righties while Minnesota uses Trevor Larnach, Byron Buxton and Matt Wallner as its primary outfield configuration.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Out against righty again

Martin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. After manning left field and occupying the leadoff spot in the season opener Thursday against southpaw Trevor Rogers, Martin has dropped out of the lineup for two straight games against right-handed starters. At least in the early stages of the campaign, Martin looks like he may have to settle for the short side of a platoon in left with Trevor Larnach.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Out of Minnesota lineup

Martin is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Philadelphia. After making 15 straight starts, Martin will sit out for the second time over the last three contests. James Outman will handle left field and bat eighth.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Emerging as top left fielder

Martin will start in left field and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Angels. Martin will cover left field for the fourth straight game and appears to have emerged as the Twins' preferred option at the position over James Outman. Since the start of September, Martin has slashed .385/.484/.462 with two doubles, a 5:4 BB:K and six runs.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Sitting after three straight starts

Martin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers. Alan Roden will enter the lineup in center field in place of Martin, who went 1-for-13 with a run scored and a stolen base while starting in each of the last three contests. Martin and Roden will likely share center field until Byron Buxton (rib) returns from the injured list, at which point the two may then vie for playing time at corner-outfield spot while Trevor Larnach or Matt Wallner see more opportunities at designated hitter.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Back in the majors

The Twins recalled Martin from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday. Martin dealt with hamstring issues earlier in the season and has yet to play in the big leagues in 2025. Following the Twins' fire sale at the trade deadline, Martin will rejoin Minnesota, providing depth at second base and in the outfield. Martin slashed .319/.431/.398 with one home run, 14 RBI, 13 runs scored, two stolen bases and a 21:17 BB:K across 137 plate appearances with St. Paul.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Starts running

Martin (hamstring) has started running and is potentially a week away from playing in games, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Martin suffered the injury while pursuing a flyball in the outfield April 10 while playing for Triple-A St. Paul. Martin had produced a .419/.526/.452 slash line over 38 plate appearances at Triple-A before the injury.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: On IL with hamstring injury

Martin (hamstring) was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. Martin suffered the injury running to catch a ball in the outfield in Thursday's game. He was hitting .419/.526/.452 in nine games before the injury.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Exits with leg injury

Martin left Thursday's game for Triple-A St. Paul with an apparent hamstring injury, Marissa Voss of TwinsDaily.com reports. Martin was running to chase down a flyball and pulled up in pain before later being assisted off the field with a trainer. He was off to a strong start at Triple-A by hitting .370 with an .870 OPS in seven games before Thursday.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Summoned to big leagues

The Twins recalled Martin from Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Martin is absorbing the roster spot of the injured Matt Wallner (oblique). Martin, Manuel Margot and Jose Miranda are options to see more playing time with Wallner shelved.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Activated from 10-day IL

Martin (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday. Martin will return to the big-league roster after a minimum stay on the IL with a strained right oblique. Prior to getting hurt, the outfielder had seen his playing time dwindle greatly and it's unclear if he has a path to more consistent usage moving forward.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Garnering third straight start

Martin will start in left field and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Rays. Martin will be awarded a third consecutive start after he reached base five times (four hits, one walk) while scoring twice, driving in a run and chipping in a stolen base between the Twins' previous two contests. The 25-year-old still looks to be a part-time player for Minnesota, though he should have a regular path to making starts against left-handed pitching.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Back with big club

The Twins recalled Martin from Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. He's switching spots with Alex Kirilloff, who has been optioned to St. Paul. Martin has slashed just .224/.289/.355 across 30 games at the big-league level this season. He could see some action versus lefties, but the 25-year-old's playing time is unlikely to be steady.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Optioned to St. Paul

The Twins optioned Martin to Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday. With Byron Buxton (knee) returning from the injured list, Martin will be pushed back to Triple-A. During his latest stint in the majors, the 25-year-old utility player went 3-for-14 with two stolen bases and three runs scored in eight games.
