Cordoba underwent season-ending surgery to repair UCL damage in his left thumb Sunday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

After spending the entirety of the 2017 season on the Padres' roster as a Rule 5 pick, Cordoba went all the way back down to High-A Lake Elsinore this year, hitting just .206/.233/.310 in 45 games. He'll look to continue climbing the levels next year but is far from returning to the big leagues.

Ahmed is not starting Sunday against San Diego.

Ahmed is hitting .284 with four homers and an .852 OPS since the All-Star break. Ketel Marte will slide over to shortstop Sunday, with Daniel Descalso starting at second base.

DeJong went 2-for-4 with a two-run single, an RBI double and a run in a win over the Brewers on Saturday.

The 25-year-old's bat continues to show signs of life as August unfolds, as he's now hit safely in 10 of his last 12 games. DeJong has been putting good wood on the ball all month as well, with nine of his 14 hits impressively going for extra bases. DeJong has easily blown by the modest seven RBI he compiled in July, already having doubled up that figure a little over halfway through the current month. The surge is welcome for the shortstop, whose .242/.321/.440 line for the season still falls short of the expectations he set with an excellent rookie 2017 campaign.

Rojas (ankle) is still on the bench Sunday against the Nationals, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

Rojas exited Monday's game against the Braves with an ankle bruise and has not been in the lineup since. It's unclear whether that's completely injury-related or if he's simply been dropped from the starting lineup in favor of J.T. Riddle, as he's appeared off the bench on three occasions.

Urena is out of the lineup Sunday against the Yankees, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The move to the bench ends a streak of four straight starts for Urena, who went 3-for-13 with a double and a run scored over that span. Despite the heightened workload of late, Urena projects to serve as the Blue Jays' top backup at both middle-infield spots going forward until the team gets one of Yangervis Solarte (oblique), Lourdes Gurriel (ankle) or Brandon Drury (hand) back from the disabled list.

Adames is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Mired in a 1-for-13 slump at the dish over the past four games, Adames will be given a day off to clear his mind. Joey Wendle shifts over to shortstop in place of Adames, opening up a spot at the keystone for Brandon Lowe.

Swanson is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Swanson is hitting .296 with a pair of homers in his last eight games. He'll sit Sunday, though, with Charlie Culberson starting at shortstop.

Lindor is out of the lineup Sunday against the Orioles.

Lindor will check out of the starting nine for the first time since May 30 in what likely amounts to a routine off-day, as there was no indication he sustained an injury in Saturday's 4-2 loss. Erik Gonzalez will pick up a rare start at shortstop in Lindor's stead and bat ninth.

Fletcher went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 11-7 win over the Rangers.

Fletcher stepped into the box with the bases loaded in the fourth inning and proceeded to drive in all three baserunners with a double off of Martin Perez. The rookie has taken over at second base for the Halos, starting 16 of the club's 17 contests in August. Fletcher isn't providing much in terms of power (.357 slugging percentage), but he should continue to get everyday opportunities to prove his worth down the stretch.

Turner went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's 7-5 extra-inning loss to the Marlins.

The homer was his 15th of the year, as Turner pads his career high in that category. His .268/.336/.413 slash line is a little disappointing given his career .289 batting average, but he still has about six weeks to bring it up, and the rest of his numbers remain excellent.
