  • Angel Genao SS | CLE

    Guardians' Angel Genao: Activated Friday

Genao (shoulder) was activated from the 7-day injured list at Double-A Akron on Friday.

Genao, who turned 21 in May, generated buzz in the spring by growing an inch over the offseason and showing up to spring training much stronger, but a sprained right shoulder sidelined him for the first two months of the campaign. He slashed .308/.438/.654 with three home runs over eight rehab games in the Arizona Complex League.

  • Brady House SS | WAS

Nationals' Brady House: Pushing for promotion

House could make his major-league debut sooner rather than later, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.

After launching another homer Thursday for Triple-A Rochester, House is slashing .325/.367/.651 over his last 20 games with seven homers and 18 RBI, and more importantly, he has a 21.1 percent strikeout rate, a big step up from the 27.8 percent mark he posted through his first 37 games this season. The Nationals have gotten just two homers all season from their third baseman -- only the Cubs have fewer with zero -- and if House can carry his Triple-A momentum with him to the 26-man roster once he does get promoted, he could provide a big upgrade over the likes of Jose Tena, Amed Rosario and Paul DeJong (orbital). James Wood was promoted July 1 of last season, and the organization could consider a similar timeline for House's debut.

  • Luis Pena SS | MIL

Brewers' Luis Pena: Red hot post-concussion

Pena is hitting .407 with two home runs, three steals and a 16.7 percent strikeout rate in seven games since being activated off the concussion IL for Single-A Carolina on May 28.

Pena was excellent before the concussion, but he's been even better since a 10-day absence. He shares the left side of the infield with Jesus Made, so Pena has split time between shortstop and third base. He could also end up at second base or could try his hand at center field. On the season, the 18-year-old is slashing .344/.407/.563 with five home runs, 24 steals and a 10.3 percent strikeout rate in 32 games.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Not expected to need IL stint

Lindor (toe) isn't viewed as a candidate for a trip to the injured list, Will Sammon of the Athletic reports.

The All-Star shortstop was plunked by a Tony Gonsolin slider Wednesday that broke the pinkie toe on his right foot, and pain tolerance will determine how quickly Lindor can get back on the field. "I think it's going to be a nagging thing," he said before Thursday's game. "It's a bone; it's a broken bone. I think it takes six weeks for a bone to be fully healed." Luisangel Acuna got the start at shortstop Thursday and should hold down the starting job until Lindor is ready to return. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza indicated Lindor wasn't available to pinch hit Thursday, but it's not clear if that was simply a precaution, or if he will need multiple days off before getting back into the lineup.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Three-hit day in win

Pena went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base during Thursday's 8-2 win over the Pirates.

Pena turned in his first performance of the season with multiple two-baggers and showed off his speed in a different way by swiping his 11th base of the year. The 27-year-old shortstop has been a tough out lately, batting .432 (19-for-44) with four doubles, three home runs and six RBI over a 12-game hit streak.

  • Mookie Betts RF | LAD

Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Perfect day at plate

Betts went 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, two runs scored and a RBI during Thursday's 6-5 win over the Mets.

Betts shook of an 0-for-4 performance Wednesday by reaching all four times he batted Thursday, including a run-scoring double in the third inning that started a four-run comeback by the Dodgers. That knock snapped a 10-game skid by the 32-year-old without an extra-base hit. The showing brought his OPS up to .751, but he's still well short of the .863 OPS he posted during the 2024 regular season.

  • Josh H. Smith SS | TEX

Rangers' Josh Smith: Logs steal in loss

Smith went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Rays.

Smith was caught stealing on his first attempt of the game, but he found success on his second try. The utility player has upped his speed productivity lately, swiping three bags while going 8-for-28 (.286) over his last seven games. He's at a .266/.333/.397 slash line with five home runs, 16 RBI, 22 runs scored and eight steals on 11 attempts through 54 contests this season. Smith continues to find a place in the lineup without having a set position -- he's seen time at first base, third base, shortstop and designated hitter in the last week alone.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Smacks eighth homer in win

Henderson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Mariners.

Henderson smacked his eighth homer of the season, and he's really begun to settle in following a delayed start to the year due to an intercostal strain. Over his last 30 games, the star shortstop is batting a .279 (34-for-122) with five long balls, five doubles, 11 RBI, and 18 runs scored. Henderson entered Thursday with a top-notch 55.3 percent hard-hit rate, so perhaps he even has some room for improvement in the power department.

  • Jacob Wilson SS | ATH

    Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Keeps raking

Wilson went 3-for-5 with a home run and three total runs scored in Thursday's 14-3 rout over Minnesota.

Wilson has been one of the best hitters in baseball since mid-May -- the rookie shortstop has gone 28-for-63 (.445) with three homers in his last 16 games. The 23-year-old Wilson is batting .363, tied with Freddie Freeman for the second-best mark in the majors, with a .925 OPS, eight homers, 34 RBI and 34 runs scored through 255 plate appearances this season.

  • Bo Bichette SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Homers in win

Bichette went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 9-1 win over the Phillies.

Bichette gave the Blue Jays a 4-0 lead with a 413-foot blast in the second inning. The shortstop has found his power stroke during a nine-game hit streak that includes four home runs, two doubles, a triple and 10 RBI. On the year, he's slashing .279/.324/.443 with eight long balls, 35 RBI, 27 runs scored and four stolen bases across 281 plate appearances.
