  • Brewers' Luis Pena: Arrives at Double-A

The Brewers promoted Pena from High-A Wisconsin to Double-A Biloxi on Monday. Pena missed just over a month of action earlier this season after he collapsed during an April 22 game when he became overheated in the Wisconsin dugout, but fortunately, his development wasn't dramatically sidetracked by the scary incident. The 19-year-old shortstop finished his time in the Midwest League with a .298/.384/.420 slash line to go with two home runs and 27 stolen bases across 219 plate appearances.

  • Brewers' Luis Pena: Making return from 7-day IL

High-A Wisconsin reinstated Pena (illness) from its 7-day injured list Wednesday. Pena will rejoin the Wisconsin lineup for the first time in more than a month, serving as the club's designated hitter and No. 2 batter in Wednesday's game against Peoria, per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. The 19-year-old infielder had been out of action after collapsing in the Wisconsin dugout after getting overheated in an April 22 game, but he was given the green light to rejoin the affiliate after going 4-for-9 with two extra-base hits, two walks and two stolen bases during a three-game rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

  • Brewers' Luis Pena: Needs IV after getting overheated

Pena had to be taken to the hospital after collapsing in the dugout when he became overheated during Wednesday's game with High-A Wisconsin, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. The game was called in the eighth inning following the scary incident, but Pena was administered IV fluids at the hospital and is feeling better. Consider him day-to-day. The 19-year-old top prospect is off to a blazing-hot start for the Timber Rattlers, slashing .372/.462/.512 with one home run, six stolen bases and an 8:10 BB:K.

  • Brewers' Luis Pena: Dialed in for Timber Rattlers

Pena is hitting .500 with five steals and a 4:6 K:BB in six games for High-A Wisconsin. Pena had essentially followed Jesus Made with each promotion prior to Made's late-2025 cup of coffee at Double-A and ensuing assignment there for the start of 2026. If Pena continues to excel against High-A pitching, particularly with his swing decisions and contact ability, he'll join Made at Double-A soon enough.

  • Brewers' Luis Pena: Skipping complex ball

Pena will begin the season with Single-A Carolina, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports. It was fully anticipated that Jesus Made would skip over the Arizona Complex League and start the year at Single-A, and it's notable that the Brewers also opted to send Pena directly to the Mudcats. Pena, an 18-year-old shortstop with plus-plus speed, hit .393 with one home run and 39 steals in 44 games in the Dominican Summer League. If he can access a bit more pop, he could be a big riser this season on prospect rankings.
