  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Plates three runs

Seager went 1-for-5 with three RBI and a walk in Monday's win over the Athletics.

Seager struck out three times and didn't have his best game at the plate, but he made his presence felt with the only knock he got -- he scored Chris Taylor, Edwin Rios and Mookie Betts with a three-run double in the top of the second inning. This was Seager's first single-hit game of the campaign, but the star shortstop has gotten off to a strong start, going 9-for-17 with three doubles and six RBI over his first four games of the campaign.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Swats first homer

Edman went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Monday's 4-1 win over the Marlins.

The switch hitter took John Curtiss deep in the fifth inning for his first home run of the year. Edman isn't thought of as a power hitter, but he did slug 16 homers in 147 games through his first two seasons in the majors in addition to stealing 17 bases and delivering a .283/.337/.449 slash line.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Cubs' Javier Baez: Hits first 2021 home run

Baez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's win over the Brewers.

Baez hit his first home run of the season in the fourth inning against Milwaukee starter Brett Anderson, the second of three long balls in the frame for the Cubs. Like a lot of Chicago's key players, Baez struggled in the shortened 2020 season, posting a .598 OPS that was his worst since his 2014 rookie season. Baez is hoping he can get closer to his numbers from 2019, when he registered an .847 OPS and 29 home runs.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Late addition to lineup

Crawford is starting at shortstop Monday night against San Diego.

Crawford was initially expected to take a seat for the first time this season, but after Mike Yastrzemski was scratched with a sore hand, Crawford will enter the starting lineup at shortstop. Mauricio Dubon shifts to center field and Austin Slater starts in right field as a result of the Yastrzemski injury.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Sits for first time

Crawford is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.

Monday's starter Adrian Morejon is already the third lefty the Giants have faced this year. Crawford started against the first two but will sit Monday, with Mauricio Dubon playing shortstop.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Struggling early in leadoff role

Edman is hitting just .167 (2-for-12) with two walks and one run over his first three games while operating out of the leadoff spot.

Edman was outstanding this spring no matter where he slotted into the order, slashing .378/.404/.422 across 47 plate appearances. However, the 25-year-old has gotten off to a very slow start now that the games have started to count, but Edman has yet to strike out over 14 plate appearances and has been a bit unlucky early with a .167 BABIP.

  • Chris Owings SS | LAD

Rockies' Chris Owings: Reaches base twice Sunday

Owings went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Dodgers.

With the Rockies facing another southpaw Sunday, Owings was back in the lineup at second base. He was able to do some damage out of the leadoff position, reaching base multiple times and scoring once. If Owings can consistently find ways to get on base, he may get more opportunities to face right-handed pitchers.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Takes seat for series finale

Seager is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against Rockies, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Manager Dave Roberts said he wanted to get his regulars a day off early in the season. With the team traveling to Oakland for a series beginning Monday, stars Seager and Cody Bellinger will get a breather. Seager, who already has eight hits this season, will be replaced at shortstop by Gavin Lux with Zach McKinstry taking over at second base.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Making first big-league start

Perdomo will start at shortstop and bat eighth Sunday against the Padres.

After making his debut off the bench Saturday, Perdomo will enter the starting lineup for the first time as a major leaguer to face right-hander Chris Paddack. The expectation is that Josh Rojas will get the majority of the starts at shortstop while Nick Ahmed (knee) is sidelined, but Perdomo is a top prospect in the organization and his running ability makes him an interesting streamer in leagues that allow daily roster moves.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Enters game late

Perdomo made his MLB debut Saturday and struck out in his lone at-bat in a 7-0 loss to the Padres.

Perdomo entered the blowout loss in the eighth inning and got his first MLB at-bat. He's up with Arizona while Nick Ahmed (knee) is on the injured list, but Josh Rojas is expected to get the majority of starts at short, per Steve Gilbert of MLB.com.
