    Ahmed has been under .200 for much of the season, but the shortstop crossed that threshold after a stretch that includes three multi-hit games among his last six. He's 8-for-22 (.364) with four extra-base hits during that span.

    Crawford is 3-for-11 with two doubles and two walks through the first three games of the series, but he'll take a seat in the finale with lefty Clayton Kershaw pitching for Los Angeles. Mauricio Dubon will start at shortstop for San Francisco on Sunday.

    Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Sits for first time

    Edman is out of the lineup Sunday at Arizona, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

    Edman started the first 52 games of the season and will receive the day off Sunday. Matt Carpenter will start at the keystone in the series finale for the Cardinals.

    Marcano was recalled to the Padres from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

    This will mark Marcano's third stint with the major-league club this season. He's recorded six hits and four walks in 33 big-league plate appearances thus far. Right-handed pitcher Aaron Northcraft was sent to El Paso in a corresponding roster move.

    Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Crosses plate twice Saturday

    Edman went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs in a win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

    Edman played the table-setting role out of the top of the order extremely well, extending his on-base streak to 11 games in the process. The 26-year-old has been stellar across the board during that stretch, producing a .326/.385/.543 slash line with four doubles, two home runs and nine RBI across 52 plate appearances.

    Reds' Jose Garcia: Changes name from Garcia to Barrero

    Garcia changed his last name to Barrero on Saturday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

    The name change honors his mother, who passed away recently from a COVID-related illness. Barrero is currently away from his teammates at Double-A Chattanooga due to her death but started the season quite well, hitting .323 with four homers in 16 games.

    Rockies' Trevor Story: Slated for additional testing

    Story (elbow) will undergo additional testing Monday or Tuesday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

    Story was placed on the 10-day injured list with right elbow inflammation Saturday. Manager Bud Black said that Story's elbow injury is similar to the one he had in 2018, but the issue isn't as serious this time. He'll likely test his elbow next week, and a return timetable could be established based on how he feels afterward. Brendan Rodgers should serve as the primary shortstop in Story's absence.
