  • Juan Brito 2B | CLE

Guardians' Juan Brito: Making third straight start

Brito will start at second base and bat sixth in Friday's game versus Atlanta.

The switch-hitting Brito started each of the first two games against lefties upon his promotion, and he will remain in the lineup as Atlanta sends righty Bryce Elder to the bump. Brito is 4-for-8 with a pair of doubles in the early going and could continue to see regular playing time at second base while Brayan Rocchio shifts over to shortstop to cover for the injured Gabriel Arias (hamstring).

  • Anthony Volpe SS | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Rehab assignment scheduled

Volpe (shoulder) is slated to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Tuesday, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Volpe has been rehabbing at the Yankees' spring training complex but has rejoined the club this weekend with his rehab assignment around the corner. He has not played in any games since last year's postseason, so Volpe's rehab assignment should last a while. If all goes well, he could be ready for his season debut around May 1. Jose Caballero has been filling in at shortstop for the Yankees but will likely shift into a utility role once Volpe is back.

  • Wenceel Perez RF | DET

Tigers' Wenceel Perez: Back in big leagues

The Tigers recalled Perez from Triple-A Toledo on Friday.

Perez failed to make the Opening Day roster out of spring training, but he's now needed as a replacement for the injured Parker Meadows (arm/concussion). The 26-year-old Perez had a .738 OPS with 13 home runs and eight stolen bases in 100 regular-season games for the Tigers last year and had collected an .807 OPS with two homers and three steals in his first 10 contests at Toledo in 2026. He should see plenty of action in the Detroit outfield while Meadows is shelved.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Knocks in key run

Montgomery went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI on Thursday against the Royals.

Montgomery drove in the White Sox's first run of the game with a double in the fourth inning. It was his second double in his last three games and his third extra-base hit in his past six outings. Montgomery also didn't strike out in a game for just the second time this season, and he's currently striking out at a 32.7 percent clip across 52 plate appearances.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Pair of hits in loss Thursday

Baez went 2-for-4 with a double in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Twins.

Baez was the only Detroit player to record multiple hits, as Mick Abel shut out the Tigers through six innings before giving way to the bullpen. Baez was the lone hitter to have much success against Abel, singling in the second inning before doubling in the fourth. The veteran utility man is still looking for his first home run of the season but is slashing .323/.353/.419 with three doubles, three RBI, three runs scored, one stolen base and a 1:7 BB:K across 34 plate appearances.

  • Max Muncy SS | ATH

Athletics' Max Muncy: Pair of extra-base hits in win

Muncy went 2-for-4 with a double, triple and one run scored in Thursday's 1-0 win over the Yankees.

Muncy had both of the Athletics' extra-base hits Thursday, as he tripled and scored the game's lone run in the seventh inning before doubling in the ninth. The 23-year-old has started all 12 games to begin the season and is slashing .319/.333/.574 with seven extra-base hits, including two home runs, five RBI, 11 runs scored, one stolen base and a 1:16 BB:K across 48 plate appearances. He's still striking out too much and not walking, but Muncy is doing damage when he does put the ball in play.

  • Tigers' Kevin McGonigle: Not in Tigers' lineup Thursday

McGonigle is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Minnesota.

It's the first day off of the season for McGonigle, who has gone 4-for-15 with two RBI and a 0:2 BB:K in the first three games of the series. The Tigers will roll with Colt Keith at third base and Javier Baez at shortstop as they try to avoid being swept.

  • Addison Barger 3B | TOR

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: May only miss minimum

Barger (ankle) might only miss the minimum 10 days on the injured list, MLB.com reports.

The 26-year-old sprained his left ankle after landing on first base awkwardly Sunday while attempting to beat out a grounder, and he was placed on the IL on Tuesday, retroactive to April 6. Barger has been off to a slow start at the plate, batting .053 (1-for-19) through eight games, so the time off could allow him to reset.

  • Brooks Lee SS | MIN

Twins' Brooks Lee: Absent from Minnesota lineup

Lee is not in the lineup for Thursday's tilt against the Tigers.

It's a routine day off after Lee had started each of the previous five contests. Tristan Gray will fill in at shortstop and bat eighth for the Twins.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Records two RBI again

Story went 1-for-3 with two RBI in Wednesday's 5-0 win over Milwaukee.

Story plated runs on a sacrifice fly and a single, giving him three consecutive games with two RBI. All that run production came after the shortstop was dropped from second in the order to fifth. After a bumpy start, Story's now hit in four consecutive games.
